24.01.2022 The extravagant bright to deep red flowers with white marbling displayed by Camellia japonica ‘Emperor of Russia Variegata’. It has been growing in the ground for over 20 years in my garden and before that in a pot. A tough Camellia that takes the hot afternoon sun here in Western Australia and a hard prune every year to keep it to a manageable size. The last photo shows the normal ‘Emperor of Russia’ flower, which one do you prefer? The perfect rosette habit of ‘Lavender Lady’ showcases smoky purple coloration with subtle burgundy dots in direct sunlight, which give it a very similar to look to a larger Echeveria. 01.01.2022 Nearly a decade had passed since we planted this spectacular Bismarckia nobilis or Bismarck palm on a landscaping project in Jandakot. We are back again to do some timely and judicial pruning on the garden and I’m glad to see that it is looking even better than when we first planted it back in 2012. This majestic native of Madagascar has always been one of my favourite palms, with its silvery blue fan leaves.
