25.01.2022 So last few days started on deco gravel pathways after finishing these steps. Had some electrical works to do in order for lights along wall to go in prior to deco gravel covering cables. We are going to be starting on the next steps and landings next week. Here’s some photos of the garden as well, a lot of natives flower at this time of year. The anogozanthos/kangaroo paw look especially amazing!

24.01.2022 The latest wall is coming along nicely! The second photo is where we are going to build a recessed bench seat in the wall. The bench will be clad in re claimed hardwood. I loving using stone and timber nothing beats natural materials. Stay tuned for progress shots.

22.01.2022 Doesn’t look all that pretty yet but gotta start somewhere. We have dismantled the previous wall and pulled it and quite far from it’s original position as we want it to have more of a meandering country path feel. The here will be another lower wall in front of this one to create the deco granite pathway that will run through here.

22.01.2022 Halfway through a lighting installation. Aqualux are my favourite light manufacturer, can’t beat them for quality and design. Ran out for of daylight so we will be back to install the rest tomorrow! #aqualux

22.01.2022 When you find an old 18pound artillery shell from a 45mm cannon on your job site.

20.01.2022 This is how we build steps into a deco granite pathway. Looks a bit messy now but once the deco goes down it will look great. When you have large areas and need an alternative to paving deco granite is a good solution.

20.01.2022 It’s all in the detail! When I first had the idea of these floating sandstone landings curving around the big rock in the centre I wanted the landing at the top to be at a similar height to the top of the boulder so that it looks like it’s protruding up through the paving. It’s good to finally see how it would turn out. It will loom even better once the planting around the rock is done and the grouting.

19.01.2022 This is why I love working with stone, nothing beats the colours, textures and layers and to top it of when you look at a completed detailed wall you know hundreds if not thousands of hours as well as someone’s blood sweat and tears went into creating it.

13.01.2022 This was one of my first big jobs from about 5 years ago now when I started Gardens of Egan. I will always be proud of this one! A lot of detail went into this such as the inlaid hardwood bench seat built into the sandstone retaining walls, the LED strip light concealed within the overhang of the bench seat on the right hand side of the deck to the internal floating ceiling built within the storage area on the RHS of the deck to prevent water getting in. I also did this entire job on my own aside from the laying the sandstone I had a labourer work along side me. It’s great to go back and see how it’s aged, we are here to do a spruce up and install some more stepping stones under the clothes line.

12.01.2022 I decided to put a bit of a photo compilation of some of the finished parts of this garden and some of the parts we are working on. For those that don’t know this had been over 2 years in the making and without a doubt one of my biggest most proudest project to date. It looked amazing at this time of year too.

08.01.2022 A few progress shots, it’s nice to finally get some plants in this area. Months of work has gone into this part of the garden, it’s still not finished but I wanted to at least get some of the finished areas planted out for the clients to enjoy. Irrigation going in today.

08.01.2022 We love using Aqualux lumena range! One thing I always tell clients with anything you use in your garden is if you want it to last you need quality especially when it comes to lighting. Quality lights are precision machined and assembled using high quality well designed LEDs and rubber seals. As far as value for money and quality aqualux are one of the best.

08.01.2022 Vada pump with rain2main switch installed to pump rain water. This tank feeds all the garden taps and a 13 zone irrigation system. The irrigation system is controlled by a rain bird smart controller with on site weather monitoring as well as wi fi connection to allow weather forecast data and remote access. This type of controller allows for constant program run/start time adjustments based not only on current weather but weather forecasts. It’s important to be water wise these days and with the restrictions on watering we are often under at various times of year it is essential to have systems like this if you want to water all year round.
