25.01.2022 We have our Gold Coast Junior Masters and One Day Challenge coming up on the weekend of 27 and 28 March! These events are always popular so make sure you book your child in early to avoid missing out - there will be a participation cap in place due to Covid rules. https://gardinerchess.com.au/events/weekend-events/ The Junior Masters is designed for players over 800QJ (or rapidly improving juniors with approval) whilst the One Day Challenge is for under 800QJ rated players an...d those trying to get a rating! 23.01.2022 Due to a double booking there has been a slight change in venue for the Junior Masters and One Day Challenge on SUNDAY this weekend!! The new SUNDAY venue will be The Hinterland Hotel, Station Street, Nerang. The Junior Masters on Saturday will not be affected.... 19.01.2022 The Australian Schools Teams Championships was held on the weekend, with each state hosting a hub from which they connected via an online platform with other states. Queensland teams performed very well, with the following results. Secondary Open: Anglican Church Grammar School - 2nd place... Secondary Girls: Somerset College - 3rd place Primary Open: Anglican Church Grammar School - 1st place Primary Girls: Sunnybank Hills - 2nd place Individually, the following players won their board prizes: Melody Yang, Somerset, board 3 (4/5) Zerui Xing, ACGS Primary, board 1 (4/5) Arden Young, ACGS Primary, board 3 (3.5/5) Congratulations to all teams, and also to the organisers and technicians behind the scenes - Hughston Parle and David Esmonde from QLD and Peter Tsai from Victoria.

09.01.2022 Yesterday we held our first Sunshine Coast One Day Challenge with 69 players taking part! Talking to various stakeholders in chess around the Suncoast, our goal will be over 100 players next term! Massive thanks must go to Mrs. Vellar and Coolum State High School for providing the venue and support on the day plus Peter from Noosa Chess Club and Tony from Suncoast Chess Club for their continued support.
