25.01.2022 PPE cannot guarantee your health or safety, but it will help reduce your risk of exposure. It must be selected, worn and removed correctly to be effective. You also need to follow safe work practices to prevent asbestos contaminating everything around you. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au
25.01.2022 If a house was built or renovated before 1990 it has a good chance of containing asbestos. Whether you're doing up your own home or working on someone else's, be aware before you start of where asbestos might be found. Investigate before you renovate. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au
23.01.2022 Don’t drill / sand / saw / hammer / nail / screw / sand / chip / blast anything without an asbestos check. You can’t tell by simply looking at it. It needs to be tested. Always get an asbestos check before doing any maintenance or renovation work.... Find out more at www.asbestos.vic.gov.au #asbestoslurks #asbestosawareness

17.01.2022 Many people aren't aware that it is common to find asbestos in older bathrooms (pre-1990). If you're thinking of creating a great new space, make sure you get an asbestos assessor to check for asbestos before you start to protect both you and your family. Remember that you have legal responsibility not to harm those around you. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au
16.01.2022 Understand the risks
15.01.2022 If asbestos needs to be removed before you start work, use a licensed asbestos removalist. In some circumstances the law requires it. Be aware there is no known safe minimum level of exposure to asbestos fibres. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au
14.01.2022 Interesting read
12.01.2022 If you are unsure if something contains asbestos, do not disturb it, drill it, cut it or break it. Have it assessed by an asbestos assessor. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au
12.01.2022 Inhaling asbestos fibres can cause life-threatening illnesses including mesothelioma and lung cancer. If you're renovating an older home that may contain asbestos, call an asbestos professional for an assessment before you start. It's just not worth the risk. For more information visit www.asbestos.vic.gov.au

10.01.2022 #asbestos #asbestosawareness #Silica #silicaawareness - Today 22nd March, 2021- ACV/GARDS did a virtual presentation to TAFE apprentice Painter & Decorators at The Gordon, Geelong campus. It was really great to catch up with their teacher Paul Webb and really good to be able to get to more apprentices and make them asbestos & silica aware - We hope they got a lot out of the session and they can take this info forward into the future in their chosen profession. They now know what are trusted sites to empower them to make the right decisions in their jobs. We wish them the very best for the future
