20.01.2022 ****CONTRIBUTIONS CLOSE THIS FRIDAY 31st JULY**** Currently, there is a review and consultation period to look at keeping the dirt jumps at The Grove, Seaforth. For those who don't know, the Grove has a long history of being a quality dirt jump institution on the lower Northern Beaches. It has been knocked down once and not rebuilt to the same standard, and the newer unsanctioned parts built by members of the riding community are at risk of being demolished again.... As a club we don't promote or condone unsanctioned trail building, however, we want to support the community by getting the word out so people can contribute to the consultation process and try and find an outcome that preserves and improves what currently exists on the site. So far, theres been an OK response from riders but it could be much stronger. Your message of support for the facility carries more weight if you LIVE IN THE AREA or HAVE KIDS that would use the facility (or both). If you want the sanctioned facility to be upgraded and unsanctioned jumps saved, please take 5-10 minutes out of the 48 hours to let Northern Beaches council hear your support for the jumps. *****We have until Midnight Friday 31st July****** . Send a single email CC'd to all the following addresses (They are edited so you can cut and paste them in one hit). A title and a couple of lines asking strongly but politely to save the unsanctioned jumps and improve the existing Council run section is all you need to write. 04.01.2022 Like lots of things in 2020 it's been a crazy year for Shredfest planning as well. There has been lots of progress on the event, and we've got some awesome new... inclusions on the way as well in addition the BMX, Enduro, Whip-Off and Pump Track events of last year.....watch this space!!! Let's face it, Covid has been a royal pain in the a#$e this year and hasn't helped at all. Rather than try to force an event into an already busy end of the year, we've made the call to postpone Shredfest 2020 to February 2021 to give everyone some time back in their lives and give more time to develop even better tracks and facilities onsite. We'd like to thank Councilors Kylie Ferguson and Ian White from Northern Beaches Council for their ongoing support of this awesome event and the amazing volunteers from the Manly Warringah BMX Club and the Garigal Gorillas MTB Club who've been doing loads of work behind the scenes to push forward off-road bike riding in the region. Also a big shout out to the councillors and council staff that's been working with us to soon officially formalise the mountain bike trails at the reserve as well. For now though, take just a minute and get writing to the northern beaches council and let them know why this facility will benefit you, your friends and the community Trail Care Solutions. ... For over a decade, there has been an ongoing saga involving riders in the Manly Vale/Seaforth area and local government. It's time for that to end. Manly Council and Warringah Council encountered unsanctioned community-constructed jump parks on their land. On each occasion, the Council destroyed the jumps, and promised to provide a replacement legal facility to meet the needs of the user group. On both occasions, the Council failed to deliver. Now, Northern Beaches Council is faced with the same issue, with unsanctioned jumps appearing at both of the formerly closed sites, and various other locations in the nearby suburbs. This is an opportunity for the amalgamated Council to show real leadership, and succeed where its predecessors failed. It's time to solve the problem once and for all. The team at Trail Care has come up with a solution. Let us know what you think.
