19.01.2022 Dear Valued Customers, We would like to insure you all that despite recent measures outlined by the Australian Government our services will continue as per normal until further notice. This means we will be able to see patients for both routine and emergency consultations during our normal trading hours. However, in order to continue to provide care to your animals and prevent the possible spread of the COVID-19 virus through the community we are required to uphold the follow...ing measures: ONE person (owner or representative) present during consultations. If you have been unwell or in contact with those who are unwell, please notify myself or Camille. We will still be able to see your animal but require a healthy person not in contact with unwell people to handle the patient or alternatively we can organise a staff member to assist. Please practice social distancing of 1.5 metres as much as possible during the consultation (of course we understand this is not possible all the time). We require the use of hand sanitiser at the start of consultations (will be provided by the vet on arrival). Please uphold government recommended hygiene practices (coughing/ sneezing into elbow or tissues, hand washing etc.) We request payments be made via direct debit or over the phone (avoiding the exchange of cash). Please be aware that new customers may be required to make payments at the time of consultation. In addition to these measures we advise clients with patients needing ongoing medications to insure they have enough for the next month in the event of delays in the supply chains. We also recommend ensuring your horse is currently up to date with their Hendra vaccinations as supplies for PPE to veterinarians has become extremely limited and no new stock will be available in the near future. As a result, once these supplies are exhausted, we will not be able to see unwell un-vaccinated horses. You can find your horse’s vaccination status on the Zoetis Horse4Health website or alternatively contact the Townsville Horse and Hound office (07 4779 8004) with the microchip number and we can find this for you. We will be requesting proof of Hendra vaccination at the time of appointment scheduling. If your horse is unvaccinated for the Hendra Virus, protection status can be achieved by the administration of two vaccines at a minimum 3 weeks apart.
