17.01.2022 I play the long game, thats for sure. You might remember years ago I did the animtion teaser for Reallusions 2018 Animation @Work competition, and the star of that teaser was my Venus character. Well Venus was boiced by the incredibly talented Joseph Harmon from Sound Alike Voice Talent who you will find on my Website. Well at the time, Joseph shared with me an audio clip he did of Tony Montana from the movie Scarface. And to this day I cannot listen to that clip without tea...rs of laughter. And all those years ago I told Joseph that one day I would be in a position to it justice with an animated clip. I was going to do it with my Little Mates Scarface, but to be honest, I knew I would be able to do better one day. And that day is today. I have waited YEARS to do this animation and I finally have all the pieces in place to begin. In fact, one of the DIY Scenes we currently have in store was crated JUST for this animation. It wont be finished for a long time yet, as I havent even started animation frame one. But it will happen now. And one more thing......... its aint gonna be for everyone. I wont be able to even post it here on this page. It is NOT for sensitive ears, believe me. I will be posting it on my Shenanigans page, which often has, shall we say, more mature content. 08.01.2022 Gobsmacking. Thats the first word that comes ot mind when I checked out Warwick Hays UFO Prop Pack. Gobsmacking. There is no one, and I mean no one who does this stuff better than Warwick Hays. The level of detail in both the design and layout of these UFOs defies belief. You will buy this pack and still be shocked at all the goodies youre getting inside. This is the most dynamic and customisable scifi space craft you'll ever see. And its cute as hell. 06.01.2022 The window and door to my office arrived yesterday and is temporarily in place, needing to be fixed permanetly on the weekend. This afternoon my electrician installs my lighting and tomorrow the floor gets put down ( I changed the wording from "gets laid" because some of you are childish). I just want to say thanks to everyone for your patience during this relocation. Its been a big effort on many peoples parts and it has taken me away from my work a bit while the process is... underway. 06.01.2022 I am by no means an expert on Adobe After Effects. In fact, this video clip is only the second clip I have ever produced using it with the new free Cartoon Animator Pug In. And I have to be honest, Im loving it! You get to see real time effects on your 2D animation across all layers or selected layers. And the end result is very cool for a first attempt. Here is my process for using the plug in. Hit and hope. Point and click. Click it and see. I have no clue what Im doing, s...o I make a simple scene, export it After Effects via the Plug In and then add effects one by one and fiddle with the sliders and dials to see what it does, making a mental note so I can do it again in the future. Adobe After Effects is way to big to learn everything in order. And I am way too dumb to learn it all by reading guides. 04.01.2022 So the Adobe After Effects Free Plug In for Cartoon Animator Pipeline is here now. And for those of you who already know how to use After Effects, Im sure this is just going to be a lovely smooth transition allowing you to instantly enhance your animations with cool video effects that Cartoon Animator cannot achieve on its own. For me, not so much. I subscribed to After Affects the second the plug in was announced. I watched some tutorials. I waited for the Plug In to be rele...ased. I watched Reallusions tutorials................ and I have to say, it wasnt nearly as hard as I anticipated. And Im not good at learning new things. Teaching me anything new is the equivalent of when you go to visit your parents to see how theyre getting along with their brand new first computer and they say At last! It’s taken you long enough. I pressed the Help button over 2 hours ago! I have add a disclaimer at this point before I go on. I was very fortunate to have the real time guidance of Shane McKnight this morning who talked me through the process of using the plug in (which I now understand maybe 10% of) and answered all ym stupid questions. Multiple times. Thank you Shane. But after a few hours of mashing buttons and getting frustarted, it all started to make sense. And if youve used Photoshop before, you have a distinct advantage over those who havent, because the icons and meu structure will be instantly familair to you. So here is my first output video from Cartoon Animator having being passed through the After Effects Plug In. What impressed me is 'it works'. Beyond that, its a matter of learning to fine tune all the effects. I strongly recommend you watch this tutorial before getting started if youre new to After Effects https://youtu.be/FZ1fT1yolPw So in this short video, I was able to export my animated equences to After Effects and then apply some effects. I added the motion blur. I changed the overall hue of the scene. I added a vignette shadow to the scene. I added a shadow behind the character. I added an animated smoke haze across the whole scene. And I added a glow to the machinery panels which frankly you cannot see because by this time I had added WAY too many effects because I was having SO much fun. But the end result looks like the sort of footage youd see someone watching on a small video monitor in a scfi movie, as their friend runs screaming from a space alien in another part of their doomed craft. And Im happy with it. Anyway, I LOVE the new Plug In. I will learn it and I will get better.
