24.01.2022 Another from the slightly nervous Somalian girl series. Shot for the 2009 Team Digital master class, she was wrapped strategically in black velvet before being photographed before an audience of photographers. Shot with the the new (at the time) Phase 1 medium format camera. Were you photographed by Garry between 2002 and 2019? Would you like ALL your images from your shoot (for a nominal cost)? Contact us on [email protected]

24.01.2022 Final Days are approaching. Do you have a interesting memory from your shoot? Leave them in the comments below. To order your archived images, email us at [email protected].

24.01.2022 Your ex may be your ex, but never your childrens ex. Sure, so many of us are/have been step parents, but how many would say they have been successful? No one I... bet, including me. Never-the-less, Karalee did ask me to jot down some thoughts for one of the testimonials in the book, and shoot the cover as well. A bit of an honour really. She was encouraged by friends to write this book for years and finally did late last year. It hit number one on Amazon in the Step Parenting Blended Families category and then within 48 hours, ground zero, all signings, talks, tours cancelled due to Covid 19. No overseas shipping was allowed. Really bad timing, however, finally the book was re-launched last night. Karalee could NOT be accused of holding back with the truth. This is a straight forward, honest, good value read for anyone that you know who is swimming/floundering/drowning in the muddy waters of step parenting. Heres where to buy it. https://www.karaleekatsambanis.com/

24.01.2022 A question we are asked upon booking for a professional portrait is, Do I need a make-up artist? Our answer is, Not necessarily. If you are reasonably competent at doing your own, then do so for the shoot. If you are not confident doing your own and want to look your best, then yes, add the $150 to the budget for a stylist who is experienced in photographic makeup. Especially if you are high profile and the images are likely to be used for news releases and spread across... different media. We use two of the best: Yvette Gray and Sharene Harrison. A professional portrait done well will portray you as a person who is confident and friendly, polished and approachable. A person anyone would want on their team. Cost - $295 for shoot, proof and one gently retouched image. Additional images available. Photography is by Garry Sarre, AIPP Master Photographer. 23.01.2022 Meet beautiful Nora Kanair, 92. A Lance Bombardier and artillery instrument calibrator in World War II. They dont aim straight on their own you know. She ...told me. I photographed Nora last week for the Australia wide Reflections Project. Volunteers are rounding up and photographing as many remaining WWII vets as we can before they are lost to us. Nora wont be lost any time soon. I didnt have to slow down behind her, as she attacked the stairway leading to the studio like she was charging a breached fort wall. Determination in her rock solid hips and swinging arms. When she got to the top she said. I thought Id better get in quick because Im going on holiday next week. Well its lucky we got you in now. Stand over there. I said catching my breath. If you know any WWII veterans that havent registered yet, help them to register at https://aippveterans.com/veterans/ The Reflections Project: Honoring our World War II Veterans project is one of the most ambitious photographic projects ever undertaken in Australia. Members of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography aim to commemorate our unsung heroes of World War II in print, and will gift the collection to the Australian War Memorial archives. The collection will provide a compelling pictorial record of returned servicemen and women living in Australia, reinforcing the ANZAC tradition, We will remember them. Thanks Odelia Sarre & Jo Rollinson for assisting and especially to Rebekah Wilson for managing the WA photographers at Sarre Photography.

21.01.2022 You might as well include a variety of shots in your professional portrait session. They can range from a little more formal - usually a jacket - through to a simple shirt shot, preferably ironed. This will help you relate to any different audiences that you may have. I like this shot because it is down to earth and unpretentious, exactly how Mike Nahan appeared to me. A little known fact about Mike is that he grew up on a small farm and is one of thirteen children. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au

19.01.2022 An enthusiastic and curious bunch of photography students visiting the studio.

18.01.2022 Shooting a corporate portrait with glasses takes a little extra care. And a competent corporate photographer will retouch out the green cast and reflections inherent in lenses. Seeing the eyes clearly is paramount to communicating who you are. Meet Anthony Spagnolo, Senior Adviser to the federal Finance Minister.... Anthonys profession dictates that he be quick thinking and time efficient, but also relaxed and friendly. He also brings his own personal charm to the role. His portrait reflects all of those attributes. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au

17.01.2022 The only photo ever taken of Helen Jane.

17.01.2022 A slightly nervous Somalian girl from 2010. She was photographed 'live' before an audience of photographers using the new (at the time) Phase 1 medium format camera. Were you photographed by Garry between 2002 and 2019? Would you like ALL your images from your shoot (for a nominal cost)? Contact us on [email protected]

16.01.2022 The Reflections WWII vets project is nearing completion. 6000 registered so far. Today we had a special and rare event. Muriel (95) and Bruce(93), our first vet...eran couple. Married 68yrs I felt mean asking them to climb the stairs to the studio, but I did offer to carry Muriel. She declined as she didnt want to make Bruce jealous. He already refers to her as a cradle snatcher being two years older than himself Muriel was a radio operator using Morse code and transmitting in secret code of four letter blocks in New Guinea. Bruce was a bomber pilot over the North Atlantic, between the UK and Iceland, where he managed to sink a German U-boat. As we walked them out to the car, I reminded them how much they are appreciated for what they have done. Those words unerringly bring a smile to the vets faces that we have photographed. If you know any WWII veterans that havent registered yet, help them to register at https://aippveterans.com/veterans/ The Reflections Project: Honoring our World War II Veterans project is one of the most ambitious photographic projects ever undertaken in Australia. 15.01.2022 WA AIPP awards were last week. This entry did quite well. The photograph is of the Hon John McKechnie QC. Commisioner of the CCC (WA Crime and Corruption Commission). I had 5 minutes with him and wanted him to appear intimidating, someone to be reckoned with. He deals with crooks after-all. The foreboding, even ghoulish face hidden in the background also adds to the feeling that you dont want ever to be looking at him from this vantage point

13.01.2022 Meet Donald Frearson - 91. Previously a sub-lieutenant on a destroyer doing convoy duties in the South-West Pacific during World War II Professional photographe...rs across the country, accredited by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), are donating their time and talent to create a compelling pictorial record of returned servicemen and women for the national archives. Would you like a cup of tea and a slice of my daughters fruit cake, Donald said as he led us into his lounge. He was charming and funny, as many of that generation can be. After the shoot, he asked us if we liked poetry. Poetry is best listened to with your eyes closed, he said. We closed our eyes while Don recited Clancy of the overflow beautifully and by heart. What a treasure. To close your eyes and listen to this precious generation. 13.01.2022 Does anyone know Nicolette? A ballet teacher. We did an extraordinary shoot of her in her ballet dress in 2004, along with her two boys and husband. We loved her hand made skirt so much, we had one made by a remarkable dress maker for our studio. (Some of you may recognize it). There were so many layers of fabric, they filled her house apparently. The last we heard of Nicolette, she moved back to South Africa for her husbands business. I know she would like to get hold of al...l her images. Important Notice. Did you have a shoot with us between 2002 and 2019? As we are moving the business away from personal portraiture, its the perfect time to pass you your archived images for safe keeping. These include ALL images in your shoot, including those not ordered. For a minimal fee (to just cover our costs), you can choose from: $195 for downloaded images. $220 for images on a thumb drive, mailed to you. Order from [email protected], or pm via Facebook messenger. To ensure the confidentiality of your images, we will need to verify your identity before sending. Finally, if you know of anyone that had a photo shoot done by us, please pass this along to them as well. Garry and Odelia Sarre. www.sarre.com.au

12.01.2022 This is a portrait of a mothers anguish for a son during war. Paul Royle was photographed as part of the Australia wide Reflections Project, Capturing WWII ve...terans while we can. Paul was the 2nd last survivor of the famous Great Escape where nearly 90 escaped. Most were re-captured and over 50 were executed in the Black Forest by the Gestapo, which Paul witnessed. Aged 101, he passed away shortly after this shot was taken. Jo and I went to his funeral and met the family. A grand-son showed me letters from Pauls mother written through the Red Cross to him. He held it up for me to photograph. The map in the background shows the various Stalags in Germany, including Stalag Luft 3 where Paul was interned.

12.01.2022 Ayla and I pass by Trig, short for Triegellis, when I drop her to school. He used to live just down the road from us, 78 Heytesbury Road, Subiaco He is everythi...ng a statue should be, even Aylas younger sister, Zahlia loves seeing Trig. Its great to have a statue that has a real personal story and not just some artists cosmic fairy-tale. Kids learn a bit of empathy from real things and real stories. So I tell her the story of Trig and his friend, John. The real story is lot sadder than the kids version she hears. Jo and I heard about Trig (as his friends called him) at an ANZAC memorial talk by Richard Diggins. I couldnt recall the facts too well so I contacted a researcher, Peter Hopper today, and this is what he told me. Marshall Triegellis Fox and his friend John Shaw Anderson were fellow prefects at Perth Modern school. Trig had qualified for university and John, as an accountant. According to the Perth Modern School Newspaper, The Sphinx, Trigs departure was premature owing to a sudden illness of one of the other men. They had to make up the numbers for reinforcements I suppose. I dont want you to think that I am one of those fellows, Trig wrote to the Head Master, who get all they can from the school and then let it pass away completely out of their mind". We dont know who was the first to fall during the 11th Battalions attack on Tasmania Post on 1 August 1915. One stopped to help the other and in doing so, also succumbed to fire. According to the school newspaper, "It was later still that we heard that the two friends had died together, the one succouring the other as he fell". Later correspondence was received by the school from a member of the 11th Battalion which read: "I feel particularly sorry for two boys who had just left the Modern School who I am sure, had great careers before them...They died side by side, the second one while looking at the first ones wounds. All who know say the same as I do, that they feel sorrier over their loss than anybody elses". Both Anderson and Fox were aged 19. The story of the slouch hat next to Trig is harder to know. Greg James, the artist behind the statue, placed it there for a reason. It could be this. Trig was buried in the Shell Green Cemetery, Gallipoli Peninsula. In those days, communications took many months, or even years. His father, years later, politely, as people were in those days, requested that his personal effects try to be returned, including the slouch hat. The ship containing Trigs affects was sunk. Perhaps Greg James sees that Trig is finally reunited with his hat.

12.01.2022 Still covered in cobwebs from the dry May, our Earth goddess (Our studio fountain lady) is finally bringing forth beautiful winter rains. 300mm for June would be mana from heaven

12.01.2022 Some thoughts about your professional portrait for LinkedIn and web presence. Its probably a good idea to crop the top of your head. Why? In a portrait, your eyes have the most influence for conveying your character, and if we can come in closer for a profile shot, well be able to see them more clearly, and therefore see YOU better.... It wont hurt if we sacrifice the top of the head to do this and one of the reasons this shot of Christian works well is because of that. Christian Porter was born and bred in WA and is Australias Attorney-General as well as the member for Pearce. He has also taken on responsibility for the Industrial Relations portfolio and has become Leader of the House. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au

10.01.2022 Im going back through the archives from the last 20 years and found this Brazillian beauty from 2002. 10.01.2022 You choose your style of corporate portrait to appeal to your audience. If its done well, it can significantly change your life, or at least not be the weak point in your on-line presence. Meet Sonet Coetzee. She is running for Wanneroo Mayor. Her audience are the local rate-payers. Sonet has a fresh outlook, tempered by her experience in council. She also wants to make things happen faster for people. Sonets portrait had to appear unpretentious, professional and authen...tic. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au See more

07.01.2022 One of the most beautiful shots of 2004. A ballet teacher, Nicolette Teixera from South Africa. She came in with 2 boisterous boys and a husband. Such a lovely shoot. We printed her on water colour paper. It received a silver distinction in the National awards, but she was gold to us. Important Notice. Did you have a shoot with us between 2002 and 2019?... 04.01.2022 What sort of eye contact and expression should you have for your professional portrait? For law or medicine, a pleasant and subtle smile is going to show prospective clients/employers that you take your job seriously. As a TV news presenter, reporter or journalist, you might also want to be a little more on the serious side, giving the impression of integrity and depth. ... Karalee is all of the latter. She is forthright in nature and has a genuine interest in others opinions. She is no meek lamb when sharing her own either. She greets you with sincerity and enthusiasm. I think this image captures her perfectly. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au

03.01.2022 A few things interesting things Ive noticed successful people I have photographed have in common. Theyre not late. Their diary is full so they need to be on schedule. When Im shooting, they are very present. By that I mean they are focused on getting the best portrait that they can, and they really work for it. Phones are off.... Friendly and gracious. The old adage of be nice to people on the way up because you may need them on the way down rings true. Meet Michael Mischin, WA Deputy leader of the opposition. Its the last frame from the shoot and its a goody. This portrait shows integrity, friendliness and an easy sense of humour. www.corporatephotographyperth.com.au
