21.01.2022 This one can actually start a fire! While it is true that a higher-wattage bulb will provide more lumens, installing one in a lamp is not necessarily the best way to go. All fixtures and lamps come from the manufacturer with the maximum wattage they can accommodate. If you were to use a higher-wattage bulb, the fixture may not be able to dissipate the heat generated by the higher wattage, which could result in a fire. ... If you want more light, use an unfrosted (clear glass) bulb, or try using an LED bulb that generates less heat while providing more lumens. Give us a call to discuss any lamp related issues you may have. Were always up for a chat. 0438 898 572 @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia See more

13.01.2022 This is one of the more dangerous myths about electricity out there because it is based partially in fact. It is true that rubber does protect you against electricity. This is because rubber is one of the best insulators of electricity. However, this is only true if the rubber in question is 100% pure rubber. Many household rubber products, like rubber gloves, are not made of pure rubber. Instead, the manufacturer will often dilute the rubber with other products to make t...he gloves last longer, to make them more stretchy, and to make them more comfortable to wear. The problem is that many of the products that the manufacturers use to dilute rubber gloves are conductors of electricity. So, just because you are wearing rubber gloves does not mean that you can start rooting around in your wiring or attempt to fix electrical issues that you would normally leave to an electrician. The rubber gloves simply do not provide enough protection. What about shoes? The soles are made of rubber, so surely they must provide some protection against electricity. The answer to that question is sort of. See, it is true that the rubber soles in shoes do provide a slight bit of protection against electricity, this is due to the fact that the rubber used in shoe soles tends to be a bit purer than the rubber used in typical, store bought rubber gloves. However, most soles that you find in shoes are far too thin to provide real protection. So, while wearing rubber-soled shoes will provide a bit of protection from electrocution, it is not enough protection to really be safe. 11.01.2022 Myth: All power lines are insulated. Truth: As a rule, power lines arent insulated. So, how come birds dont get electrocuted when they perch on a power line? This is because they dont represent a path to the ground. If a bird were to touch two wires at once, or a wire and the ground, it would be electrocuted. ... 10.01.2022 Finished every episode of every show on Netflix? Tired of hearing kids fighting and need to get out of the house? Maybe youre at work and thinking of something exciting you can do when you get home?? Test your safety switch!! Its the most fun you can have outside at the moment

09.01.2022 This one is actually pretty scary. There are SO MANY people who think that wood will protect them from electricity. They are under the impression that wood acts as good insulation. However, this is completely wrong and it is very dangerous to think this!... Wood is not an insulator at all. In fact, it is actually a decent conductor. While wood may not be the best conductor of electricity out there, electricity, especially high-voltage electricity, will still be able to move through wood and electrocute you. If for some reason, the wood is damp, then it becomes an even better conductor. Remember - we are always up for a chat! Have questions about electricity? Or anything really - were pretty chatty.
