24.01.2022 GASP is very happy to announce receipt of funding from the Australia Council Resilience / Adapt program to develop a major digital art project with Dr Bill Hart. And congrats to fellow Tasmanian recipients in this round.

21.01.2022 GASP defunded. Last night the Glenorchy City Council voted on a report that was not on its Agenda. It was ‘tabled’ at a closed session without GASP having seen it and without any notice to the community. Council then released a statement to the media at 9pm last night - but not to GASP.

18.01.2022 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: GLENORCHY COUNCIL PARKS, RESERVES AND OPEN SPACES: CLOSED All parks, reserves and open spaces maintained by the Council will be closed as of today, Monday 30 March. This includes all playspaces which were closed last Wednesday, 25 March. These closures are in-line with Federal and State government directives to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We apologise for any inconvenience as a result of these closures. Council will continue to re-assess its re...sponse to the pandemic as an ongoing action. For further enquiries please call the Council's Customer Service 03 6216 6800 or email [email protected] Please note this includes the GASP pathways and boardwalks, Montrose Bay and Wilkinsons Point toilets, and the Montrose Bay Foreshore playground. 18.01.2022 A super cold morning to be in the water removing Natalie Jeremijenko’s Amphibious Architecture. Thanks to Adam and co from Subsea Access for taking the plunge. #gaspartpark #amphibiousarchitecture #nataliejeremijenko #winterinhobart #subseaaccess #glenorchyartandsculpturepark @ GASP Glenorchy Art & Sculpture Park

17.01.2022 Public Service Announcement! There will be a temporary closure of the GASP boardwalk access to and from the Grove pavilion and recreation area adjacent to Humphreys Rivulet. This will be from Monday the 24th of February reopening Thursday afternoon 27th of February. This closure is to facilitate the replacement of concrete footpath that adjoins the timber boardwalks. Why? Because the path that requires replacement joins to the boardwalk either end of the Grove pavilion and it will not be safe for people to enter the work site. Thanks to the team at Glenorchy City Council for keeping up the great work!

08.01.2022 What the potential loss of GASP means to Glenorchy. In the wake of the Glenorchy City Council’s 9:1 vote to discontinue funding to the Glenorchy Art & Sculpture Park (GASP), Chair David Palmer and Artistic Director Frances Butler expressed their concerns in relation to the Glenorchy Mayor and Aldermen’s short-sighted decision - with the exception of Ald Kelly Sims who voted against the motion. We put a realistic proposal to the Glenorchy Council at a workshop on May 11th,’...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Nice to see the GASP Truck finally out and about at Kingston today!

05.01.2022 In the current COVID-19 situation we're watching the national arts sector being devastated by cancellations and our fabulous arts workers losing income for the foreseeable future. GASP has also postponed indefinitely, its two developing projects - Fire & Light and the Community Planting project. While GASP is a great place to get some fresh air and exercise while self-isolating we ask that you be considerate of others - practice good hygiene and be kind, always. If you see a busker please give more than you might usually. Support local, and together we'll get through this.

04.01.2022 In response to the Glenorchy Council's incorrect statement regarding the governance status of GASP: GASP is a public Company Limited by Guarantee with DGR (charitable) status, registered with the ACNC, so it is Incorporated and Not-for-profit. The Council itself created GASP and worked to establish our company structure and objectives. ... The Aldermen were briefed in a workshop on Monday May 11 by the Chair and CEO of GASP - the governance status was stated on page 1 of the briefing paper and discussed within the workshop. GASP is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and the Glenorchy Mayor has had a mandated position as a Director on the Board since our inception, which was relinquished in mid-2018. From this date forward the Board and the CEO have been working with Council in order to re-establish that link. GASP secured the funds it did (and from which the Council and community now benefit) for the Boardwalks, Pavilions and Public Art on the site, as a publicly incorporated body, which we understand was Council’s primary purpose for initiating GASP’s independence.
