22.01.2022 Our honey spring prices remain the same currently. 500gr $8 1kg $14 3kg $30... We have fresh 100% pure 100% raw strained honey. All our honey will contain traces of wax and pollen as it is only strained not filtered or heated like store purchased honey. #supportyourlocalbeekeeper
20.01.2022 There’s a shortage of bees, and it’s only going to get worse..
17.01.2022 Looks are deceiving.. if these little bees were left alone to their own means.. more than 1 sheet of tin would have had to be taken off to get them out of there.. Thank you to the property owners for getting in contact with us to help these little critters be moved on any longer and things would start getting hectic
15.01.2022 People who expect free bee removal often assume the beekeeper wants the bees, that they are easy to catch and that those bees will make them honey. No, The beekeeper is saving/protecting those bees, and if it means taking them from a awkward place, so be it.. No, they are not all easy to catch.. ever been stung multiple times whilst climbing a ladder.. No, it’s more complicated than catching bees to make honey.. they need to produce their own honey for themselves to sur...vive, before we even consider going near their supplies.. Some removals are painless, some not so.. Here is a great article explaining the difficult process and why there are charges sometimes.. in the end, it’s cheaper for the bees and us to have them removed by a beekeeper than the pest killer.. they aren’t pests, they only trying to help themselves and us survive..!!!
12.01.2022 Another lovely little swarm relocated to settle into their new hive
11.01.2022 A big thank you to for the call to relocate these little bees today. If you take a good look, you can see how their little faces are in the shape of a loveheart
11.01.2022 The action shot.. you may notice red, black and yellow colours.. they are the foundation sheets the girls start building their honeycomb on
09.01.2022 A big shout out to Brad from Bendigo Cemeteries... another swarm saved from the elements and relocated safely As you can see.. bees will take up residence wherever they land.. please don't hesitate to contact us rather than exterminators.. they're harmless and mean no harm to anyone.. they're just trying to keep us all alive.. Every living creature has a purpose on this earth
08.01.2022 Do a little dance this cute little bee dance is called washboarding
08.01.2022 A great big thank you to Axedale Primary School for calling a bee keeper to remove this lovely swarm nestled in the fork of a tree located on the children’s play ground. The kids were well behaved and asked a lot of really great questions. I use to attend this school as a child it was great to see how well it has progressed from a single class room. #axedaleprimaryschool #savethebees #callyourlocalbeekeeper
07.01.2022 When 2 swarms become 1
06.01.2022 2 lovely little swarms rehomed today.. 1 small queenless swarm, the other swarm had their queen and was a much stronger swarm.. so we decided to combine them into one hive Normally this sort of combination is a invite for a bee war.. but these little bees were happy to take on a new hive and each other peacefully
04.01.2022 Helicopters have nothing on these little lovelies You’ll notice with our clips the bees are busy fanning (where their wings are flapping like crazy and they aren’t flying) this is called fanning.. They do this for many reasons.. in this case with a new swarm and hive, with bottoms up, facing out with the tip exposed, the girls are sending out a homing signal by revealing their Nasonov glands, and spreading the Queen pheromones to let everyone know she is in here..... This is done during swarming or orientation flights at a new hive.
01.01.2022 An insight from start to finish.. such amazing little critters
01.01.2022 The end product.. straight from the spun frames, pure unadulterated honey.. The sieve catches any wax we have missed.. The honey is then poured into containers, ready for the table.. So yes, we now have more honey available for sale ...
01.01.2022 I love the slo-mo feature.. and love the slo-mo experience These girls are fanning their wings to call others back to the hive.. Once the swarm is disturbed (as I did to them in the wall cavity), the female bees rapidly fan their wings at the opening of their new hive to disperse pheromones to alert other bees to return.... When relocating a swarm, it’s always tricky (for me anyway) to spot queenie in amongst thousands of bees.. it’s important that queenie is found, after all she’s the reason everyone has swarmed and sticks together.. and she is the Queen of the hive I knew queenie was in here once the girls start fanning.. Pretty clever aren’t they
