25.01.2022 Moon Dog Lager from Victoria reminds me of a classic Aussie lager but with flavour. It hits all the usual lager benchmarks but next levels it with some nicely balanced malty notes . I am being restrained with it being a long weekend and no open bottle shops for 2 days . This is a dangerous beer as I could see it becoming a 2 mouthful bottle if I let my guard down. I vinyl matched this with Van Halen 5150 as this album opened Van Halen up to whole new audience, just like this ...lager should do for Moon Dog . I cannot believe this album just celebrated it’s 35th Anniversary, I still remember it like yesterday and how I fell in love with this album and the vocal tones of Sammy Hagar . I admit I became a bit obsessed with him and Eddie at this stage . Best of Both Worlds , Why Can’t This Be Love are just 2 cracking songs from this amazing album. Put this album on crack a Moon Dog and enjoy the balance and beauty of Sammy and Eddie . See more

25.01.2022 Upside Down Crisp Pinot Grigio 2020 , South Australia. This is a nice mid week quaffing wine that doesn’t make you think . Easy on the Palate with your usual suspects of green apple and crunchy green pears with lemon and limes . The nose was a familiar friend of apples and citrus. This is a what you see what you get wine with nothing in between. You want a Pinot Grigio you will get said Pinot Grigio. This is a canapé wine as it will cover so many different food categories. I chose the Animals- The Most Of , for my vinyl match . After a wine that treads a run of the mill line I needed music that didn’t. House of the Rising Sun will always get me singing so does Baby let the good times roll and We’ve got to get out of this place . Classic band , classic album and a safe bottle of wine for some mid week quaffing. Why not.

20.01.2022 Curious Kiwi Pinot Noir 2018 Marlborough New Zealand. Picked this up from our local First Choice for $8.00 . I enjoy Kiwi pinots , I find some to be a tad big but that’s just my palate. This one started out interesting with cherries, spice and cola on the nose . The palate was cherries- maraschino and sour , raspberry and cinnamon. The colour in the glass was also inviting ,lighter than usual Kiwi Pinot a gentle burgundy. That’s where the positives stop . The wine was thin an...d unappealing after opening up . I would have thought with a couple years under its belt it would have held its body and had a subtle bit of complexity. So to cheer myself up I vinyl matched with a classic Sammy Hagar album Nine on a Ten scale from 1976 . The raw power in Sammy’s voice here on Young Girl Blues and his Van Morrisson cover Flamingos Fly turned my disappointment into happy memories. On to the next wine . At least give the album a cheeky listen it may just surprise you . See more

10.01.2022 Hawkers Rover Henty St Ale in my opinion is a session beer. This little bugger creeps up on you and before you know it most of your 6 pack is gone . The tropical fruit and citrus notes of this beer works so well with the caramel on the mid palate. This is a BBQ beer as you will never have one of your hand and you will be talking shit In know time. I matched this vinyl wise with Midnight Oil - Head Injuries. This album kicks it and is such a raw Oils offering that I recommend people who have never heard them to give this a listen. Cold Cold Change, Back On The Boarder Line and Section 5 Bus To Bondi . I would hope on a bus to any beach to enjoy this bad boy by the sea . If you have not tried either , please give it a go.

01.01.2022 Tinnies Tropical XPA is so different to the other XPA’s I have been drinking lately. It didn’t have the upfront tropical fruit, the in your face nose that I absolutely love . But this beer is different and in a good way . It reminds me that this style of beer has many personalities and many different flavour profiles. This one has lime , lemon , quince and a hint of caramel and is utterly delicious. I could see me drinking this with Asian soups like Pho and Laksa . The citrus... would carry nicely and compliment the soups. My vinyl match to this beer is KISS - Crazy Crazy Nights . This was my second coming to KISS and now having Bruce Kulick on guitar gave them another dimension. The songs were classic KISS and I loved it . I can see I could a Crazy Crazy Night on The Tinnies Tropical XPA and I might have to do it sooner rather than later . Enjoy See more
