24.01.2022 Coraggioso Nero D’Avola 2018 , Sicily. What can I say Aldi has over delivered with this little gem . I really enjoy Nero and for the life of me I don’t understand why we don’t produce more of it here in Australia. This beauty has raspberry, strawberries and cranberry with an earthy and oak nose . While the palate is dry the flavour profiles sneak up on you with cherries, raspberry and cranberry all married together with forrest floor and that funky mushroom character. This wi...ne punches well above its price point $4.99 and drinks like a $25 .I vinyl matched this with Kiss - Smashes , Thrashes and Hits . The reason for this match is the balance of the wine and the adventure your palate gets as you discover the different fruit . With this being a best of you certainly get to discover the different fruits of their musical journey and will never be able to settle on one . Enjoy See more

22.01.2022 Meerea Park Old Vine Semillon 2016 Hunter Valley, NSW . Semillon is synonymous with the Hunter and over the years have earned the region a reputation for high class wines. This old vine Semillon is no exception it is everything I want and expect it to be . The nose is lemon and lime zest that linger once you move the glass away from your nose. The palate is Delicious and Granny Smith apples , lemon sherbet and a hint of honey at the back . This is a drink now wine or put ...it in the cellar for another 10-15 years. I vinyl matched this with The Doors - 13 . Semillon like the Doors is not everyone’s cup of tea but when done right can be a match for the ages . Jim Morrison’s voice and vocals are timeless and keeps finding new audiences just like Semillon . Semillon is not just a blending grape it is a quality grape and really is Australian royalty . Try both at the same or on their own . Enjoy See more

18.01.2022 Two Figs - The Sticky Fig 2016 , Berry , NSW . This sticky is Chardonnay and Verdelho and a decent balance. On it’s own it was a lovely dessert wine but we had it with banana cream pie and even the acid could not compete. The nose was honey and lemons and candied pears . The palate was honey baked apples and pears and citrus marmalade. All in all a lovely dessert wine we didn’t food match it well . Blue cheese would be brilliant, dark chocolate anything would work. Vinyl match for this wine is the Cocktail Soundtrack as the Birthday Boy had this lined up to play and we never got to it . But alas I spun it on Sunday and enjoyed as much as the sticky . Peace out .

13.01.2022 Meerea Park Indie Marsanne Roussane 2019 , Hunter Valley, NSW . I think Yerringberg have a serious challenger in the Australian market now . They have been the benchmark for a very long time and this wine from Meerea Park will leave you wanting to match them up. Marsanne Roussane is part of the Rhone holy trinity of white wine grapes ( viognier being the other )and something that I will always gravitate towards when matching white meats or fresh salads . The nose on this ...wine is freshly picked pears and quince. The palate of ripe pears , quince, warm spices and a hint of oak and honey . Delicious. I vinyl matched this with The Angels- Live Line . This live album of Australian rock icons is still one of the best live albums in my collection and I do have a few . From Take a Long Line , to Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. But like Doc Neeson sang take me away to Marseille and with this wine it just might. Enjoy. See more

01.01.2022 Meerea Park Alexander Munro Chardonnay 2018 , Hunter Valley, NSW . Hunter Chardonnay has always held a special place in palate as it was my first experience of this special grape. Medium bodied with gripping acid what was not like . This one from Meerea Park hits every note with the Alexander Munro. The nose has peaches , lemon zest and I’m picking up some nectarines. The palate is well balanced with peaches, nectarines, honey dew and a subtle hit of citrus. All in all a bloody good Chardy. I vinyl matched this with Ed Sheeran X as it is an album of many layers with the ebbs and flows of life . Enjoy
