25.01.2022 This Friday is the last day of term 2. Please note that school finishes 1 hour early at 2:05. We usually have 1 or 2 students whose parents and carers forget. Please don’t let it be you. We WILL talk about you if it is. (Just kidding )

25.01.2022 Here are our latest updates regarding COVID-19 approaches. This is a tricky time for everyone but we will get through this.

25.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

24.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our students and their families.

24.01.2022 Thank you so much to our amazing Gawler East Primary School community. What amazing support for our staff and sister site over the road, Gawler East Preschool. Great to see our OSHC join in too.

24.01.2022 Don’t forget this Friday is a pupil free day. Your kids are telling the truth!

22.01.2022 We’d love to see you!

22.01.2022 From tomorrow we are implementing additional measures to keep staff, students and families safe. We hope you understand the need for these inconveniences and bear with us. Fingers crossed the good news for South Australia continues!

18.01.2022 Please note: Gawler Schools are not impacted but if you have friends in the affected area, please alert them.

18.01.2022 Below are some answers to questions which have been asked since yesterday's post. Hopefully this helps. Will children will be put in different classrooms with different teachers? At the end of last term, we were expecting less than 10% of students to attend at the start of term 2. If this was the case, we planned to deliver the same content to students at school as students would be receiving at home. The plan was to allow teachers to group students and supervise them work...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Please be aware of the parking restrictions around the school. The driver must be within 3 metres of their car if they pull up in the kiss and drop area. These restrictions also apply on the opposite side of the road. Last night a surprise visit from a parking inspector resulted in a few fines.

17.01.2022 This week we are celebrating our non-teaching staff. Our SSOs, GSEs and ACEO are a handy mob.

17.01.2022 In staffing news, Adele White has accepted the position of Deputy Principal at Nuriootpa Primary School which will commence from next term. This Friday is Adele’s last day at Gawler East Primary School. Of course we all wish her the very best for her new position and thank her for her dedication to the students at Gawler East Primary School.

17.01.2022 To our most underpaid and overworked workers - Happy Mother’s Day. Your work is invaluable.

17.01.2022 These holidays our classes which have had problems with interactive whiteboards are having new interactive TVs installed. The JP installations feature height adjustment so those class members with shorter legs can access them.

17.01.2022 In happy news, Miss Dana Hall will not be returning next term. But... Next term we welcome Mrs Dana Hudson.

17.01.2022 . A lot of warnings have been issued for children to stay off social media, specifically Tik Tok, due to a graphic self harm video that’s circulating. While we do recommend that parents monitor their children or keep them off the platform, it's a band-aid solution for a long-term issue due to the fact that distressing videos constantly circulate online.... Instead we would like to encourage all parents and guardians to -: 1 . Understand that they will most likely use it, whether you understand the appeal or not. Ask them what apps they use, find out why they like those apps. Start a dialogue so you can start understanding why it’s important to them. The more you understand about it, the more you can stay across it. 2 . If you know what apps they’re using, help them make their profile as secure as possible, whether it’s TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch or Reddit (the list is endless). You can do this with the help of this eSafety Commissioner guide: www.esafety.gov.au/key-issues/esafety-guide 3 . Be open and willing to listen. Make them aware of Kids Helpline Official (1800 55 1800), Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636), headspace (headspace.org.au) and Lifeline (13 11 14) so they know they have a place to contact if they don’t feel comfortable approaching you. 4 . Kids often create a social media profile that they make visible to you, but keep their actual profile under a fake name hidden from you. Again, this is why we encourage you to talk to your child openly and honestly. 5 . If your child watches YouTube videos, please be aware there's no guarantee that this content will be safe for kids. People can easily edit distressing videos for kids that slip through the filters. If you can't monitor your child on YouTube then let them watch Netflix kids instead as it has stronger filters. SBS and ABC iview are both free alternatives for children’s online content. The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is a great resource for parents, guardians and kids: www.esafety.gov.au

17.01.2022 The letter below has been sent home with students tonight.

17.01.2022 There is currently only one active COVID-19 case in SA. We’d love to see all students back to school. We are open for business!

16.01.2022 While we have been busy preparing for the worst, South Australia has been very fortunate to have had low numbers of infections due to COVID-19. With this good news in mind, it is still imperative that we maintain strong processes and practices to minimise the risk of harm to our school community. Our school is open on Monday but you will notice we are taking a cautious approach. Thank you all for your support, encouragement and understanding.

16.01.2022 Today we ran a mini assembly without being in the same room. We were able to use MS Teams to broadcast video and audio to classes. We are so lucky to live in a time where we can overcome hurdles using technology.

16.01.2022 Today we celebrated Sonia’s 50th birthday. Any parents who have students who work with Sonia understand how valuable she is to our school. Congratulations Sonia.

16.01.2022 Tomorrow is the last day of term 3. Students will be dismissed at 2:05pm. Teachers are planning to begin celebrations at 2:06pm so please don’t be late. (Please note: the part about teachers is a joke... )

15.01.2022 Despite the holidays and despite coronavirus, improvements at school continue. Some additional garden beds and top dressing of the soccer oval has been completed along with new carpet in our Learning Area 3 and corridors of Learning Areas 1 & 2. Yes it’s messy work.

15.01.2022 Thursday is school photo day. We ask that all students wear the school shirt with the logo to school that day. If you don’t have one please contact the front office. And by the way. Thursday is also the last day of the week for kids. Staff are participating in training on Friday.

12.01.2022 Our rejuvenated front garden bed in all its glory.

12.01.2022 A stunning piece of art by one of our talented teachers. Strength and Spirit This is a story about the true fighting spirit of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers who have courageously served, often without recognition, in the Australian Armed Forces. The soldier silhouette in this painting represents the 13 soldiers who lost their lives in Gallipoli in 1914 fighting for our beautiful country. The colours from the Aboriginal flag have been blended with yello...w ochre and red ochre to represent this wonderful land we proudly call home. We will remember them. 11.01.2022 What an amazing transformation by our talented grounds staff Chris and John.

10.01.2022 Thank you so much for the messages of support for our staff. They resulted in many tears today. Our teachers are working hard to arrange learning activities for those students who are being kept at home during the COVID-19 virus. Let’s be blunt. If you can keep your child home, please do. We’ll do our best to support you. And we will also do our best to provide a safe, learning environment to those students who remain at school. Our thoughts remain with those of you in difficult and uncertain conditions. We’re all in this together.

10.01.2022 While we’re mostly business as usual, some events may be impacted by the latest COVID-19 outbreak. The parent meeting for preschool children transitioning to school that was scheduled for Friday has had to be postponed. We will be in touch as soon as possible.

09.01.2022 Today an ambulance was called to the school for a child needing some medical attention. Most students will be unaware but some may be upset and need some reassurance. The child involved is fine. If your child needs to talk to someone about their feelings or concerns, please contact the school. As you would understand, no further details will be provided about the incident.

09.01.2022 Friday is PJ Day. Given the forecast is for warm conditions, please ensure your child brings along their uniform. Shoes are required and please, no bed time toys. Please remember that this is not a casual clothes day. Pyjamas, onesies or uniform only

06.01.2022 What does your child need? If children feel unwell, they should stay home to rest. A sore throat, headache, runny nose, body aches, fever and/or a cough all ...point to the same thing: kids shouldn't be at school. So keep them at home and let them take what they need to feel better (whether that's or ).

06.01.2022 Liquid gold! The Department for Education secured hand sanitiser supplies for us.

06.01.2022 Our school is still participating in activities based around the National Day of Action against Bullying on Friday. You may read that the day has been officially postponed but we have modified the programme to protect the health of staff and students. Students are invited and encouraged to wear orange to show commitment to the message. Please note this is not a dress up day so costumes are not appropriate. If students have an article of clothing such as a T-shirt, shorts etc or even just an orange ribbon that is fine. A tutu would be acceptable (yes, they’ve asked) but not a character costume. Any other clothing needs to be school uniform.

05.01.2022 Today we welcome back students whose parents have chosen to see how the numbers pan out this term. We are returning to normal teaching and learning. We are open for business!

04.01.2022 To minimise contact and maintain social distancing we will be posting any child learning packs that have not been collected by the end of today. Thanks for your ongoing support. Stay safe
