23.01.2022 It's heating up! Whilst it's a great idea to cool off at the pool, we need to remember to be safe around the water as it is a high risk environment. The Gawler Aquatic Centre is proud to be a Watch Around Water centre, to promote the supervision of young children around swimming pools. What does this mean for you?... Children under 5 must be within arms reach of a responsible person over 16 years of age at all times, and accompanied in the water. Children under 10 must be constantly supervised by a responsible person above 16 years of age, in clear eye view at all times. Any child regardless of age using a flotation device must be accompanied in the water by a responsible person at all times where this person can stand comfortably. 21.01.2022 AND THAT'S A WRAP, ON 2020! What a year. This year has been tough for everyone, us included. But we have still had a number of achievements we want to highlight! In 2020, the Gawler Aquatic Centre received record numbers of enrolments for Learn to Swim in Term 4. We also achieved higher numbers of users than ever before, even despite the periods of lock down due to COVID-19. ... Our centre also received a huge upgrade, with change-room, first aid and meeting room renovations, new diving blocks and shade sails installed We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our team who make the Gawler Aquatic Centre a great place to be, and the community for continuing to support us each year. 20.01.2022 Public Reminder - Recreational Swimming Statement Dear Patrons, We understand this Thursday, Friday and through the weekend will see temperatures rise to 40c. Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 restrictions, pools are NOT open for public access to recreational swimmers. They are only open for rehabilitation and fitness (lap swimming). ... The advice from Recreation SA to avoid disappointment is to: - plan ahead - check to see if your desired centre is open and make a booking if required, - ONLY to attend for fitness or rehabilitation swimming - come properly prepared if you do visit - WATCH AROUND WATER to keep your family safe. Our centres would love to see you, and we value your business, but we may have to turn visitors away if you are not swimming for fitness or rehabilitation purposes. 18.01.2022 Town of Gawler Update Wednesday 18 November 2020 As you may be aware the State Government has just announced some significant restrictions for the next 6 days..., with people essentially only able to leave their residences for work if they are an essential service provider, to attend the supermarket, seek medical attention and in response emergency situations. While Local Government is again classed as an essential services provider, our publicly facing services for the next 6 days will be limited to those that are required in order to maintain Council’s minimal operational requirements. The following operations will now occur for the next 6 days: Gawler Sport and Community Centre Closed from Wednesday 18 November Gawler Aquatic Centre Closed from Wednesday 18 November Gawler Administration Centre Closed from Wednesday 18 November (however Customer Service staff will be onsite to answer phones) Gawler Civic Centre Closed from Wednesday 18 November Gawler Visitor Information Centre Closed from Wednesday 18 November Gawler Public Library and Evanston Gardens Library Closed from Wednesday 18 November Civil Construction and Horticulture Programs Will cease during this period Public Facing Services Relative to the Public and Environmental Health, Community Safety and Town Maintenance, these will continue as usual (rapid response, town cleaning, litter/rubbish management, irrigation management, tree watering, etc.) To assist in this regard, there will be some limited customer service staff onsite to answer phones and assist triage customer requests. NAWMA NAWMA’s kerbside bin collection service will continue as normal during the COVID lockdown period. Both of NAWMA’s Resource Recovery Centres will be closed from 4pm Wednesday 18 November until midnight Tuesday 24 November All hard waste collection services scheduled during the lockdown period are cancelled and residents will be contacted with an alternate date. 12.01.2022 Gawler Aquatic Centre COVID Update Please be advised that after reviewing the current Emergency Management Directions our opening hours have returned to normal and we are operating with a few modifications to suit the current restrictions. Opening hours Weekdays 6am-7.30pm and weekends 7am-5pm (above 35 degree we will remain open until 7.30pm). ... Recreational Swimming - Due to new restrictions and density requirements there are caps on total numbers allowed across our pools - 50m main pool 50 swimmers - Learn to Swim Pool 20 Swimmers - toddler pool 15 swimmers. For this reason no public swimmers will be able to access the Learn to Swim Pool when Learn to Swim lessons are on as the pool will be at capacity. The times for this are weekdays 3.30pm-6.30pm and weekends 8am-12pm. If you plan on coming in for recreational swimming please call ahead 8522 2034 so our friendly staff can provide you with our current capacities in all of our pools as these caps are mandatory under the restrictions. Lap and Rehabilitation Swimming Continues as per normal. Learn to Swim Program - We welcome back all of Learn to Swim Program families with lessons starting from today, 1 December. All families have been contacted via email. Aquaerobics - To recommences Thursday 3 December. Birthday Parties - To recommence Saturday 5 December. Birthday parties will be required to provide exact number of attendees 24 hours prior to their booking. Affected birthday parties have been contacted. Change Room Capacities Due to the 1 per 4m2 rule, our change Room capacities are very limited. Therefore we are encourage patrons to shower and change at home. Further information regarding this to come. Contact Tracing All patrons entering the centre will be required to contact trace using the mySA Gov app and scanning of the QR code, regardless of having a membership at the centre. If patrons does not have a smart phone, paper contact tracing will be available. We will have a covid marshall onsite to assist with any enquiries and to help keep everyone safe! 01.01.2022 COVID RESTRICTIONS - UPDATE Please be advised that as on 14 December the Emergency Management Directives have been updated. Therefore we now have some exciting new updates to our facility operations: Capacities for all three swimming pools have increased to 1 per 2m2. Whilst this allows for more room for recreational swimming we still do have a capacity. So please phone ahead before coming for a swim. Recreational swimming in the Learners pool will be allowed during Le...arn to Swim Program times. Please be reminded that all patrons and spectators entering the facility will need to check in via the COVID-SAFE CHECK-IN. If you do not have a smart phone we still require you to check in using our paper form located at the kiosk.
