In announcing these measures HRSA CEO Ross Neal stated the welfare of industry participants and the potential risk to the ongoing viability of racing are central to our considerations at this time Mr Neal added we acknowledge that the measures taken are not ideal given the progress made to date, however we look forward to a speedy resolution of the current outbreak and the industry returning to the path of general attendance at all SA harness race meetings. 06.01.2022 HORSES TO BE EXERCISED DURING LOCKDOWN Over the past 24 hours the provisions of the Emergency Management Act 2004 have been amended to provide for the care and ...exercising of horses on private properties or at registered training facilities. These amendments also provide an ability for those requiring to travel to perform the said care and exercise duties. However, it is essential that that those attending to horses, for the purpose of care and exercise, do so in a manner that meets all of Government, Health and Police requirements currently in place. These including social distancing and proper hygiene. It is important that those required to travel to perform their duties travel directly to, and from, their place of work, and upon completion, return directly to their place of residence. It is critical that all involved action responsibly during this difficult time. Note: The South Australian Harness Racing Club has advised that all work at their Globe Derby Park facility will be restricted to the training tracks the main track will remain closed until further notice. We thank the Office of the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing as well as the State Co-ordinator, Mr Grantley Stevens and the team at SAPOL, and relevant Health Officials for their understanding and attention to this matter. The relevant sections as they apply to the racing industry are provided below: 3Interpretation In this direction essential worker means a person who performs work that is essential for the continued operation of any of the following: (ze) primary industries only to the extent necessary to ensure adequate supply of food to, and care of, crops and animals. 7Leaving home for care and other compassionate reasons A person may leave home - (f) to ensure adequate supply of food to, and care and exercise of, animals that are situated away from home if no other person is available at that place to provide the food, care or exercise. 8Leaving homeessential workers A person may leave home for the purpose of undertaking duties as an essential worker. For further information please contact: ROSS NEAL | CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (08) 8285 2899 [email protected]
