24.01.2022 As mentioned in last Saturday's run brief, parkrun events all over the world are being encouraged to celebrate female participation by hosting a special event on Saturday 7 March 2020, ahead of International Women’s Day the following day. We would love you to join in the celebrations by bringing along a friend, colleague or family member and everyone is invited to join the celebration online by using the hashtag #IWDparkrun. parkrun events will be showing their support with a suggested purple dress code on the day.

23.01.2022 The following statement has just been released as part of parkrun Australia's latest COVID-19 update: 'In South Australia, we have been working closely with the COVID Management Plan Team and SA Health and are delighted to confirm parkrun events will reopen in SA on 21 November.'

22.01.2022 All registered parkrun participants should have already received an email with this update on the Return to parkrun Framework. For anyone who hasn't please check out the link.

19.01.2022 This week is National Volunteer Week. Whilst Gawler parkrun is unable to take place at the moment, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank everyone who has volunteered their time to make it happen each week for the past 141 events. So a big thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers.

19.01.2022 Overnight update from parkrun Australia below, but please note this does not mean parkrun events will be restarting in SA just yet. But is it a big step forward. South Australia (SA) Since our last update, we have reached the point where we now believe that all 38 parkruns in South Australia comply with SA Health requirements. We have therefore sought written permission from the SA Government for parkrun to reopen.

11.01.2022 Update on parkrun cancellations from https://www.parkrun.com/news/ Dear all, Today’s update is to notify you that all parkrun events will now continue to be suspended until at least the end of April. This is in order to keep all parkrun countries following the same timeline for the moment, although we do expect suspensions to go beyond April.... Since deciding to close our events we have been working incredibly hard to action that decision, understand the implications of making it, and provide immediate support to parkrun communities around the world. And, with all events suspended, we are now able to begin work developing our strategy for supporting our communities during this difficult time and, one day, re-launching. Going forward we will be publishing a global parkrun update every Tuesday (UK time), on the parkrun.com news page. We will get through this, together.

10.01.2022 The one when parkrun was on Leap Year Day.

10.01.2022 #notparkrun We are all missing our weekly dose of parkrun however you can still log your (not)parkrun time via your parkrun profile. Your (not)parkrun/walk can be completed anywhere - your local parkrun course, laps around the neighbourhood, the local footy oval...anywhere as long as it is 5k.... All results are then added to the (not)parkrun results table. So get out there, log those results and let's get those numbers up for Gawler parkrun!

10.01.2022 There will be some changes in how we manage parkrun upon its return....but one thing that won't change is our love for parkrun! Please have a read of the runner/walker code so we can all be safe :)

09.01.2022 Only 10 sleeps to go until Gawler parkrun returns on November 21. A big thank you to all the people who have already offered to help get things underway again by volunteering in the first couple of weeks. To all volunteers and participants, please familiarise yourselves with the respective Covid codes previously posted on this page. If any of the volunteers want to meet up to run through anything in advance of the restart event, one of our Co-Event Directors will be at Clonlea Reserve this Saturday (November 14) at 8.30am.

08.01.2022 We are so very thankful for those who volunteer each week so others can parkrun/walk. Our roster is filled for the first week back...but after that we have many spots available. If you'd like to help out in the up coming weeks just shoot us a message and we can slot in. All roles are easy to do and there is always someone around if help if needed.

08.01.2022 All parkrun events in Australia have been suspended with immediate effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation All events will be cancelled until at least the end of March. Please pass on this message to any parkrun friends or family members who may not have internet access or who do not access it regularly. Thank you.

08.01.2022 parkrun Australia has issued a new Covid-19 update today. Northern Territory now has a restart date of 19 September for its parkruns. The update includes notes on current requirements in each state and territory which affect parkrun. https://blog.parkrun.com//parkrun-australia-covid-19-coro/

07.01.2022 We have been issued a new QR code for the Covid-SAfe check in at parkrun. There will be copies of this new code pinned up at the back of the shelter and on both sides. There will be a link in the comments for those who are unable to use the Covid-SAfe app. Remember you can check in at home before or after your run/walk or at the event.... Please see one of our friendly volunteers should you need help :)

06.01.2022 Subject to current Covid restrictions being lifted from December 1, as currently forecast by the South Australian State Government, parkrun will reopen in SA on December 5. Please look out for further updates. Fingers crossed.

05.01.2022 Our vollie roster has been updated to reflect a start date of Dec 5 *fingers crossed* All names have been shuffled over so please check that the day your name is down for is still suitable for you. 04.01.2022 Well done to everyone who took part in this morning's Gawler parkrun. This week 153 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 15 were first timers and 25 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different clubs took part. The event was made possible by 9 volunteers:... Kell GRADY Sally GARDNER Neil SANDERS Jeff JEDANI Rita GRIFFITHS Danielle WINDER Jules REID Lee JEDANI Heidi MARKWICK Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Gawler parkrun Results Page https://www.parkrun.com.au/gawler/results/latestresults/ We are missing finish token #61. If anyone knows its whereabouts please get in contact with us either by email to [email protected] or through the Gawler parkrun Facebook page. As mentioned this morning, we’ve received a couple of questions about Run Briefs. We try to keep Run Briefs brief but appreciate you may feel you hear the same thing repeated each week. There are a few items that parkrun requires us to mention at every event. These are the safety rules for children under 11, dogs, and location of the defib unit, plus the no printed barcode no time rule. We feel other items mentioned regularly, such as keep left on course, car parking, finish tokens, volunteers, sponsors and milestones are important to include for different reasons. Our average attendance has doubled in the past 12 months, which is fantastic. However this does present a challenge to the Run Director to be heard by a much bigger audience when they present the run brief. Consequently it is making some excellent volunteers more reluctant to volunteer as Run Director, which in turn means it is the one role we are having difficulty filling some weeks. So we simply ask everyone to please be respectful by listening while the run brief is being read out. Thank you and happy parkrunning!

04.01.2022 Not long to wait now until Gawler parkrun returns to Clonlea Reserve, 8am next Saturday 21st November We will be posting one or two reminders and updates this week to try to make the return of parkrun as smooth as possible for all. We have already posted the Covid specific guides for volunteers and participants.... Below is the general Code of Conduct for participants, which we are required to publish as a reminder to everyone as it has been eight months since the last event. - Please pay attention to the pre-parkrun briefing - Respect everyone’s right to participate in their own way - Under 11s always within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian - One dog (on a short lead) per person - Be mindful of your local environment and other people - No printed barcode, no time, no exception - Have fun, it’s only a walk, jog or run - Thank the amazing volunteers Please keep a look out for further updates during the week.

04.01.2022 Here is this week's update from parkrun Australia. https://blog.parkrun.com//covid-19-coronavirus-update-12-/

03.01.2022 Well done to everyone who took part in this morning's Gawler parkrun. This week 156 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 15 were first timers and 30 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 7 different clubs took part. The event was made possible by 8 volunteers:... Toria EATON Paul HORWOOD Toby GRIFFITHS Neil SANDERS Jules REID Yvette MOULSDALE Nicole WHITLEY Alana LUKOWSKI Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Gawler parkrun Results Page https://www.parkrun.com.au/gawler/results/latestresults/ CORONA VIRUS As mentioned in this morning's run brief, parkrun is publishing updates on its parkrun.com news page and parkrun Australia Facebook page. It is acting on advice from the World Health Organisation, national governments and medical professionals. If large-scale event cancellations are imposed across regions parkrun will directly contact all registered participants in that region, notifying them of the closure.

01.01.2022 Thank you to those who have messaged or posted about volunteering! Just remember that we will only be using the app for timing and barcode scanning. If you'd like to timekeep or barcode scan - we ask that you check your app is up to date and have a trial of scanning your barcode. This is very important as some phone have been found not to be able to scan. It's easy to do. Open the app and it will tell you what to do...if you need any help just shoot us a message.
