24.01.2022 Going live today to interview the lovely CEO of APAN - Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network Tina Viney

24.01.2022 BEHOLD - The stratum corneum! This is your skin's outer most layer, which is comprised of skin cells, lipids, and natural moisturising factors including amino and fatty acids; also known as your acid mantle. This acidic film on the surface of your skin helps shield your skin from bacteria, viruses and other potential contaminants.... A damaged skin barrier can not only make the skin dry and sensitive, but can also leave it vulnerable to damage, including sun damage, capillary damage and oxidative stress. It can also make it difficult for the skin to repair itself, the signs of ageing or post-breakout marks.

20.01.2022 Vitamin C, Vitamin Collagen, or just Vitamin YES! Whatever you call it, Vitamin C is fantastic at rebuilding and supporting your skin's collagen. (including the collagen in your capillary walls) But did you also know that Vitamin C is a Tyrosinase Inhibitor!? This means it helps to fight against excess pigment production by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase; thus reducing melanogenesis! It also lightens and brightens the pigment that has already formed.... This makes it the perfect product to fight against sun damage! Collagen Depletion Capillary Damage Pigmentation

19.01.2022 INFLAMMATION AND THE ROLE OF NUTRITION IN WOUND HEALING By Gay Wardle IN TODAY’S SKIN CLINIC ENVIRONMENT many of the procedures we perform contribute to inflammation. Whether induced, or existing, it is imperative that we understand the role of nutrition in strengthening the immune system and supporting the healing and repair process of the skin. In this article Gay Wardle explains what is inflammation and key diagnostic considerations and nutritional factors that will help ...support and enhance skin repair. WHAT IS INFLAMMATION? Inflammation is the body`s immune system reaction and is essential for orderly, timely healing. Normal time frame for inflammation is 3-4 days sometimes lasting up to 7 days. Inflammation involves colour changes to the skin, for example, there will be erythema (redness), temperature changes (heat) and swelling. All of these are essential for inflammation, without them the wound will not progress and heal. The reason for inflammation is to provide for hemostasis and the breakdown and removal of cellular, extracellular and pathogen debris. Macrophage cells (neutrophils) are involved in the initiation of inflammation. To read more head to https://gaywardle.com/inflammation-and-the-role-of-nutriti/

13.01.2022 I am sure we have all seen lymphatic massage floating around our feeds with Jade rollers and Gua Sha becoming popular; but why is Lymphatic drainage so beneficial? Unlike the cardiac system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump, instead it relies on muscle movement, manual lymph drainage, or hydrostatic pressure. The goal of lymphatic massage is to open up the lymphatic vessels to let excess fluid drain back up into the lymph nodes located throughout the body. It's easy... for the lymphatic system to become sluggish and stagnant and becomes overwhelmed with toxins when you are under physical, emotional, or chemical stress. Massage increases the flow of the lymph fluid, the fluid pushes these stagnant toxins through the system, allowing for detoxification. Because of its detoxification effect, not only will Lymphatic drainage assist with puffiness, increase healing and aid in the improvement of skin disorders, but Lymphatic massage can also benefit people who are experiencing: lymphedema fibromyalgia swelling or edema fatigue insomnia stress digestive problems

11.01.2022 RESEARCH REVEALS THE IMPACT OF POLLUTION ON THE SKIN By Gay Wardle POLLUTION IS EVERYWHERE. It is defined as contamination of the earth’s environment with materials that interfere with human health, quality of life and natural functioning of the ecosystem. These environmental aggressors can break down the barrier function of the skin and constantly change the skin biome. We are talking about air pollution, light pollution, UV pollution, and soil pollution. The World Health Or...ganization defines air pollution as contamination of the indoor and outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. Often when we see changes to the skin, we consider every other cause accept pollution. WHAT IS AIR-POLLUTION? Exhaust fumes, factories and the manufacturing processes, chemical and petroleum refineries, cigarette smoke, candle burning, wood fires and gas fires, volcanic eruptions, fires, biological decay, radioactive materials, all release gases or particles into the air and there are many more. All these polluted gases create a change to the biome of the skin triggering a cascade of damage to the skin’s surface. To read more head to my website. www.gaywardle.com
