23.01.2022 Hi Folks..... A few of you may have noticed a few changes in the shop over the last week or two. We've had a bit of a shuffle with the shop to improve the layout.... We have also employed our first full time member of staff! Jess comes to us from a Hairdressing background and is very excited to hone her skills and enter the barbering world. She has done plenty of men's cuts, and is a fast learner, showing us already she has what it takes. Jess takes great pride in her work, and is proving to have a keen eye for detail. As usual, you don't need to make an appointment, just walk in and take a seat, enjoy the atmosphere and wait your turn! Finally, due to a special gift from my wife this year for my birthday, I will be heading to see the Formula 1 in Melbourne. So we have made the decision to close the shop Saturday 14th March, and also Monday the 16th to allow for that to happen. Knowing how epic the shop can get on both of those days on the week, I feel it's not fair to put Jess or Clare through either of those days without me. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause some of you. Other than that, the shop hours and service are unchanged! All the best for now Barber G....Out!

20.01.2022 Hi Folks, A big thank you to those that attended our first Xmas party at the shop, Thank you Derek for the mass of stubbie coolers, and Adam for the smoked chicken, and Steve the gift for Mrs G! And thank you to the rest of you (you know who you are) that helped make the evening a good laugh and worthwhile doing. The Time has also arrived for us to draw our Christmas raffle....12 months of Haircuts, shaves, beard-trims has seen a good number of cards in the draw. 19.01.2022 Hi Folks, We will be closed this coming Friday for the local show day! Shop open as usual on Thursday and Saturday. Got some fantastic new products in today, a few interesting Toothpaste flavours and some nice mouth wash from Marvis Italy.... And a heap of new stuff from Captain Fawcett, see attached photo's for a quick look. We are continually expanding our range of products and goods for the Discerning Gentleman in Mackay, come in and have a look, touch, feel and smell. And Check out the new sign for the shop!!, A massive shout out to Kodey Neilsen and Leon Stirling and their team at Ricbuilt Heavy Industries Mackay (www.ricbuilt.com.au) for knocking this beauty up. Can't tell you how good it looks in the flesh, we are so grateful to you guys for doing this for us!!! We are looking forward to finding a new home for this on the wall (we have a spot for it). 18.01.2022 Hi Folks, As the 'Big Bopper' said to 'March Hare'........"We are still in the game"..(Mad Max). Stage 2 has been announced by Sco-Mo, and whilst we are still operating, it is only just.... So as from Midnight Wednesday we have to maintain the social distancing standard, one person to a 4m square area. Also time in shop is to be limited to 30mins or less. That may present a problem for those with beards, so you may have to prioritise what service is most important to you. We aim to do this by using only the forward most chair and rearward most chair. We will limit waiting to a maximum of three in the shop at any one time. One on the window seat and two on the sofa. I am guessing that it will be short lived, and closure will be next. But for now...we are still open. Please be patient and respect our attempt to adhere to the governments recommendations. We hope you are all keeping safe and if you have been in to contact or suspect you have the virus....stay clear of others. One final thing...hair cuts are not life threatening....!! 17.01.2022 So after a busy Saturday in the shop, what better way than to provide our barbering services to a great bunch of local lads that have been growing their Mo's for men's health awareness. Most are local business owners and a like, they have gone past the uncomfy stage and dedicated their face to the cause. Just goes to show what a collective can achieve, they managed to raise in excess of $8000, well done lads! Thanks for inviting us to help you out this arvo! I'm already plann...ing my next facial forest!! Good times!! And remember, the door is always open if you need to unwind, chill out, chat, or just simply fall off the radar! Even if you don't need a cut. Throughout history, the humble Barber has been a place for men to talk about every topic. Need a chat, got to get some thing off your hairy chest...visit your local Barber...it's more than just a hair cut!

16.01.2022 Hi Folks, Have just adjusted the hours on Thursday eve to normal close time of 5.30pm. This will be a temporary measure until Covid -19 passes. Saturdays we will call as we see it, so if there is a sustained period of quietness we will close up early. If you are in doubt, please just call the shop prior to coming down.... We greatly appreciate the support you have shown us over the last 20 months. We will still be here when this dodgy virus passes. Other than that, it's life as normal....Sort of!?? 13.01.2022 Hi Folks 2020 is here, it sounds so futuristic... We hope you had a great Christmas and enjoyed seeing the new year arrive.... Shop re-opens today, but there will be no late night this evening...got to ease back in gently! You will see that our Thursday late night trading hours have been updated also. This is to reduce the occasional evening where we finished a little too late!! Some of you may have met Tannah our trial barber late December last year. We offered him a trial run for a few days before Christmas and we were happy with the quality of his work at this early stage in his development. So all being well, we will continue with him this year. Please be patient with us as we get him up to speed with the services we offer and how we do what we do. Be fair, but be honest with him, constructive criticism helps develop your skills but negativity can knock you hard. With Clare being a very Busy mum, his time at the shop leading up to Christmas was very busy, so he has experienced pressure and a busy shop! Any way, enough Waffle, the new year is here, and we've got a shop to open. Barber G......Out!

12.01.2022 Hi Folks, Three day Mandatory mask wearing is effective today (Tuesday) 30th March Wednesday 31st March and Thursday 1st of April. We have secured face masks for your use so don't panic. It is business as usual....although I may not chat so much! ha ha.... Whilst I am here, as per usual we will be closed for the entire Easter Long weekend. This will include Tuesday for us also. Barbering is generational, one of the few places where multiple generations of males from the same family can congregate, be together and create special memories. 11.01.2022 Hi Folks, Had a few questions this morning about beards. We initially thought it wouldn't be an issue. But we have decided that we will NOT be offering beard services for the next three days. This will be a disappointment to many of you, but for the safety of you ,us and the greater community, no matter how small the risks seem, we must do our part to help stop the spread. 11.01.2022 Hi Folks, Christmas is almost here again, and it's been a hectic year at the shop, but we are not done yet! We have the Christmas prize draw that we will draw on Sunday the 22nd of December, we will post photo's of the items that are up to be won during the week hopefully, names and items won will be listed on here, and you can pick up your winnings on Monday the 23rd or Tuesday 24th, failing that we will keep them in store for you to collect in the new year.... We would also like to extend an invitation for all our customers that will still be in town on Saturday the 21st for the first ever Barber G informal Christmas party! If we say 6.pm, it's not too late, and if you have prior plans already you may be able to come down for a quick one! Please don't get too excited, it'll only be a small event, but we will have some dodgy retro tunes playing as usual, we will chuck the Arcade machine on free-play for a high score battle, (game to be decided- or voted by you) a few cold drinks on ice and a few party nibbles. Not expecting heaps of people as many of you will of already made plans or be in a distant location. It really is just a chance for us to relax...not cut hair... and thank you for your continued support in the shop! Your support is so thankfully received and we appreciate your custom. 09.01.2022 Hi Folks, Anzac day 2020 is this Saturday and whilst we are allowed to trade in the afternoon, We have chosen to close all day Saturday to show our respects to the fallen and returned service men and women. So we will NOT be open on Saturday!... Even though we are in semi-lock down, please find the time on Saturday to go out of your way to remember those that have fought and died in conflicts protecting our freedom, lifestyle and all the things we take for granted. Those that currently serve and those that have served and still remain among us, and those that have bought their own war back within them. And lets not forget the ones that stayed and worked in factories to provide supplies and support. The countless families that watched their loved ones leave to represent, but never returned. So many tragic stories, and such human loss. But we will never forget........... Whilst we think we got it bad right now, it is nothing to how generations before would have had it. Rationing food, no fuel, no open lights, curfews, etc etc. So chin up, and show your support. Remember what it is to be lucky enough to live in this lucky country. Lest we forget. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

For all those other Mo growers in and around Mackay we are pleased to announce our involvement in the Dispensary Deforestation project on Saturday the 30th of November starting at 5pm. We are volunteering our services to help rid some Gentlemen of their lip slugs and terrible mo's! And of course to help spread awareness of men's wellbeing. Now we are not doing a charitable donation this year, but if you want to support this worthy cause I suggest you meet us at the Dispensary for your Very public deforestation! 05.01.2022 Well Folks, I'm sure we have all heard enough negative news about this damn COVID-19 thing!?. Whilst we are fed the numbers of infected and deaths that occur from the virus, the positive spin that doesn't sell newspapers or get views on tv are that even though it is quite possible, even likely we will all be infected at some stage over the next few months, the recovery rate is way more than the death count. Current numbers as of this morning are as follows:-... Infected Cases = 335,403 Deaths = 14,611 Recovered = 97,636 You can look for yourself if you Google worldometer. Now of course any information we can read could potentially be tampered with to create a situation. All I'm saying is take it with a pinch of salt and make your own minds up about this current impending shut down. The rest of the world is in lock down for good reason...and I'm sure we are heading that way in the next week or so. So right now I feel sorry that the businesses that have been ordered to close are going to struggle to stay a float. The business package from the government has little substance to provide these business owners except to defer payments to a later date....Gee thanks!! The British Government started the same way but later increased help to business owners to now include paying up to 80% of peoples wages. So let's hope that the next roll out of assistance provides a little more substantial help. In the mean time, the Barbershop is open as usual, we have increased our health and safety measures to ensure your safety from Covid the best we can. We have Doctors and medical professionals that we constantly ask about the infection and what we should do, so we have good information. We have been reading that hot air in the nasal passage into your sinus is a way of killing off the virus before it can take hold. We have heard the temperature needed ranging from 27.5'c to 56'c!!. So this morning, just because it made me feel good and I'm keen not to get this dodgy virus i treated myself to a COVID-19 HOT TOWEL SINUS STEAM. This should effectively kill the virus due to the temperature of the steam. The towel is relaxing and prevents the rest of your face taking the steam full on. Ive got to tell you, breathing that steamed air felt good and put me at ease!! Now I'm no doctor and won't claim to be one, but I've had numerous bits of info sent to me suggesting ways of getting this temperature into your nose and sinus, all of which are questionable, but if you have a steam room or a sauna, it's time to get into it. So if you fancy a COVID-19 HOT TOWEL SINUS STEAM...you know where to come!! $10 We will update you if we are ordered to close, and just hope you are all staying safe and hope that this S#it passes us with out too much termoil!
