25.01.2022 Supporters of Spartans. We wish to invite you to a special Zoom meeting this Sunday to unveil the future of our Association. As we all have heard, with the reintroduction of having an NBL Team based at the DEC Basketball is in for a huge growth.... We would like to invite you to participate in a Zoom Meeting this coming Sunday Night (the 18th) at 7.00PM. At this meeting, we will be informing everyone on a number of Major Changes that will take affect in 2021 across our entire Club. These significate changes have been made to set Glenorchy Basketball up for the next 10 years and continual the fantastic results achieved thus far. To register your interest please send an email to. 20.01.2022 Supporters Of Spartans Well week one of the 2020 Southern Basketball Competitions have been played. We had our junior boys and girls last weekend and our senior women’s and men’s on Wednesday night.... After reviewing lots and lots of photos - we wanted to post just two.. Here we have Tom, Brandon and Rhys. Three young men who have stepped up and helped out coaching in our juniors teams. It’s just another example on how Basketball in Glenorchy is starting to go from strength to strength. Like All our coaches- we really appreciate the time and dedication they all give. Respect All - Fear None...
19.01.2022 Supporters Of Spartans So today we finally got to start the college gym improvement program that GBA and @Claremont College have been working on. Stage one - This fantastic scoreboard, was delivered and installed by local company - Greens Welding and Fabrication. A great company and Sponsor of GBA owned by Justin Green.... It was made available with great support from Andrew Wilkie MP - Independent Member for Clark Stage two has also been started and we are now just waiting on the manufacturers from Victoria to install our new backboards and rings. This may take a while..... Claremont College and GBA have formed an outstanding partnership and together we have future plans to help each other and the community.
19.01.2022 Supporters Of Glenorchy This weekend has seen the last of the roster games before finals. Below is a few photos of our U/10s and the Fantastic Mini Revs Program.... The key to growing any Club is to offer children the opportunity to participate and then given them a supportive environment. In the future, all these children have the ability to be superstars on and off the court.
18.01.2022 Supporters Of Glenorchy, Today we took to the court in the SWL grand final. It’s fair to say that the Penguin Basketball team is the best in Tasmania.... We may have lost but this means we are the Second Best Team in Tassie...This is something to be very proud of. We had a starting 5 with a average age of 20. Looking forward to a great future... Well done to our guys and a great effort by the coaches and all players.

18.01.2022 Supporters Of Spartans Last night saw our club win all four games played. What was more pleasing is that all the coaches believe that there is still room to improve across a few different areas. This puts us in a good position moving forward for the rest of this crazy season.... As a sports club, winning is important but so are the friendships formed and the desire to give your best no matter the circumstances. This season it is also great to see Jordan Stanwix back on the court after a long period out of the game and Kate Berry back after the birth of her baby boy. 17.01.2022 Supporters Of Spartans Tonight we get to meet a member of our GBA/Sunday’s competition. Steve Brown is a fantastic guy. He loves his game on a Sunday and being with his team mates.... As a process engineer- he is smart, very smart....and he works on world leading science and technology issues. Steve, it’s great that you are part of our GBA family.

David has a wealth of knowledge and all the Bushrangers players enjoyed the opportunity to work with a leader of our sport.... Our Glenorchy Club is really proud of the relationship we have formed with the Bushrangers Club as well as all the community groups we are working with. We look forward to posting more success stories like this into the future...

14.01.2022 Supporters Of Glenorchy Last week saw the second round of the Basketball Tasmania - State Wide League (SWL) for 2020 Our Spartans Men’s Team are sitting in second place (12 teams around Tasmania involved) and are starting to play some great basketball after dealing with a few injuries.... This form has also continued into our Southern Basketball Competition where we sit on top of the ladder as well. All the best to the team for the next month!!!

14.01.2022 Supporters Of Glenorchy Well.. the final rounds of the 2020 Senior State Wide League has been completed. In a great result so far, our Glenorchy Spartans had a good win last night again Kingston and have now finished the competition in second place.... Our team - consisting of 2 players over 30 and a core group that is 25 or younger, we have put ourselves in a strong position for the finals. Glenorchy wishes all the best to the 2 other Clubs from South Tassie, (Hobart Phoenix Basketball Association and Kingborough-Huon Kings Basketball Association

13.01.2022 Supporters Of Spartans, Below is a fantastic story from our GBA-Sunday’s Competition on the Bushrangers Basketball Club. We are super pleased to have the Bushrangers, The Stars Basketball Club, The Perkunas Basketball Club and The Revs Basketball Family in our very large and very long running competition.... Our desire is to be one of the most inclusive and supportive sporting clubs in Tasmania. As our Glenorchy Basketball Club continues to grow and we work hard on keeping people informed on this Facebook page, we created a bit of history for us over the past two weeks. Our last two posts, combined, had a reach of over 3000 people....

13.01.2022 Tonight at Kingston Sports Centre we see our four Senior Mens & Women’s team play their last Roster game for the season. @6.30 Championship Men This talented group of young and older players are extraordinary to watch with some very exciting talent coming through the Ranks tonight’s game is always a very good game of basketball to watch as we take on Phoenix.... @6.30 Championship Women These ladies are amazing to watch, their team work and true grit is worth the watch they also take on Phoenix. @7.30 Shield Men Come and watch these talented young guns take on Dominoes. Spartans are currently second on the laddder. @8.00 Shield Women A group of young and old these ladies are capable of anything but will come up against a very tall Kings team tonight. See you there.
13.01.2022 Supporters Of Glenorchy Basketball This weekend will see two important days of Basketball. In Devonport today, our senior men’s team will be participating in the second round or SWL run by Basketball Tasmania. After our first round where we came away with 2 wins and 1 loss, we welcome back Liam Smith to our team.... On Sunday we are holding our annual Baddiley - Leedham Shied Game. This year we have also introduced a women’s game. Both games are at Moonah starting at 4 and 5 pm. All the best to our Glenorchy Spartans Mens and all the best to everyone participating in our Shield Game tomorrow.

09.01.2022 Important Announcement By GBA Supporters of Spartans, Today, GBA would like to inform the wider Tasmania Basketball Community that we have officially entered into a Partnership with Bushrangers Basketball Club.... Bushrangers Basketball is Australia and New Zealand’s largest LGBTIQA+ Basketball Club., with teams in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Auckland and now Hobart. GBA would like to inform all that Bushrangers Basketball are now putting together teams to participate in our GBA-Sunday’s competition. Bushrangers Basketball pride themselves on creating a safe space for LGBTIQA+ and their allies to play community sports. GBA would like to thank Stella Lesic President and Founder of Bushrangers Basketball and David Munns - CAM Services Manager, Basketball Tasmania for the help make this possible. We are predicting a growth in Basketball over the next couple of years with a Tasmanian NBL side hitting the court next season. Please consider being apart of our Association. ...
