23.01.2022 The amazing Kate Gillespie came in last week to track a live double bass looping track with Greg Tschernez. For a very quick in and out session we feel it turned out pretty darn good! The Double Bass was captured direct from the pickup into a BOSS RC20 loop pedal into a Radial Engineering Ltd. J48 DI.... The vocal was captured with a RØDE Microphones Classic II. Both of these were fed into a TL Audio Ltd M1 Tubetracker that was serviced and modified for direct outs by Warren Huck of Hux Electronics which feeds into a RME UFX interface connected to an Apple iMac Pro recording to Steinberg Cubase Pro 10.5 mixed with the luscious Waves Audio plugins! Monitored through a pair of Yamaha Music USA NS10M and JBL 4026 vintage monitors and beyerdynamic Asia DT880 headphones. For the live monitoring Kate heard herself back through a Yamaha Music Australia - Music Products DZR10 as we wanted to capture a more natural live experience.. Kate took the footage from her GoPro and edited it together with the audio using DaVinci Resolve. For a quick in and out project we are pretty stoked with the end result.. 16.01.2022 Flashback sessions!!! The boys from @fireandwhistletheoryband recording their EP Golden Guns with us here at @gbass_studios @mitchyrosenthal on bass with a vintage @fender 1959 Precision. A variety of vintage @matonguitars for unique tones! This is one EP we are super proud of and highly recommend you have a listen. Available on iTunes and most online services. Get it now!!!

15.01.2022 When you get a message from your old mate Dru Chen saying "check out what a friend sent me!" And you reminisce on one of the most enjoyable days in the studio with Scott Nosworthy and Andrew Chen from way back in 2010... You go diving into the archive drives and find the multitracks and have some fun of course!!... This was one of the most simple setups we ever ran simply running 2 Electro-Voice re-200 overheads, Shure beta52 on kick, SM57 on snare and the bass was through an old Peavey Electronics Mark IV head with a Gauss 15 inch cab.. Guitars were all tracked through a vintage goldentone 5 watt amp and a 57 in front of it... Vocals were a RØDE Microphones NT2A into the old Soundtracs Megas console through Steinberg interfaces into Cubase... Man I can't believe my brain remembers that set up so clearly!!! Gibson les paul studio and Fender Eric Johnson Strat providing the guitar tones.... Bass was a Maton Guitars JBIV from 1981 Scott Nosworthy which kit would this have been? The Rogers if I recall correctly! I wish there was photos of this day! Have to do it again lads!

09.01.2022 Just purchased and installed the new Abbey Road Chambers Reverbs from Waves Audio and what can we say other than STUNNING!!! This combined with the new Neumann and AKG microphones we picked up recently pair with a GORGEOUS Maton Southern Star Acoustic from 1970 and you have some incredible acoustic sounds.. Watch this space and you will get to hear the results of the combination of all these incredible tools captured through RME interfaces and Steinberg Cubase Pro 9.5!

09.01.2022 Spent some time over the last couple days rewiring and rearranging the studio.. Not even halfway through the control room yet hahaha.. Getting there slowly but surely!... Just needed a new "energy" so here it comes! RME UFX is the heart of this system... Being fed by an ALLEN & HEATH System 8 vintage analog console as well as a TL Audio M1 Tubetracker! My vocals 90% of the time are tracked through my Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity Pre-Amp... It is just incredible! Mics consist of MANY things including but not limited to AKG , Shure, RØDE Microphones, and of course Neumann! All this gets captured in Steinbergs Cubase 10.5 Pro and most processing is done with Waves Audio plugins of which we own almost EVERY SINGLE PLUG! Listening to the magic being captured and mixed through a combination of Yamaha Music Australia - Music Products NS10s and JBL 4206 Monitors! For the artist we have the ever popular beyerdynamic Asia DT880 and DT990 headphones as well as some AKG headphones as well Which are driven by a faithful Behringer headphone amplifier! The newest addition to this set up is the awesome Steinberg CC121 Controller which allows for fine adjustments of everything within Cubase! And of course the "engine" of the setup is the incredibly powerful, stable and reliable Apple iMac Pro 27inch BEAST... We are operating all through this crazy time so if you have something to mix or would like some remote lessons on how to get the most out of your home setup we have you covered! 04.01.2022 It is getting close to 3am and I have been in the studio for a few hours working on one of the Amera EP Tracks for Hit Bank and OMG!!! Things are just flowing out of me and it's just getting BIGGER AND BIGGER!!! This is gonna be a BANGER of an EP!!! Prepare for Brainsplosions!!!

03.01.2022 It has been a hectic week in at GBass Studios... The incredibly talented young Jaidyn Edwards dropped in to chat about her music and ended up laying down a quick version of her latest song "Compliment".. Guy is writing and recording all of his songs at home and is getting us to do the final mixes and bring it all together for him... His first track "What goes around" has come up a treat and we are looking forward to getting the rest of the tracks done soon! And then we had the exceptional Tashka drop in to work on the last song on the soon to be released ep from Hit Bank artist Amera! Dauntless is a dark and powerful piano driven song which will add something special to an already amazing lineup of songs... Can't wait to share these and many more songs with you all straight out of GBass Studios...
