24.01.2022 This image of eco-acoustic monitoring from Gaynor Swamp shows how wildlife responds to water making its way into the wetland. The top row (not-so-much colour & movement) is before water arrived and the bottom row shows activity after about 45 days of flow - things are clearly going off like a frog in a sock! And with Frog ID week and #wildpollinatorcount under way this week it's a great time to get outside, #connectwithnature and sign up for a People and Parks Foundation #NaturePact https://peopleandparks.org/nature-pact/ #waterforthenevironment #CMAsGetItDone

24.01.2022 There hasn’t been large-scale golden perch spawning in the lower Goulburn for four years (most golden perch in the Goulburn are stocked fish) so we were pretty excited to find larvae during recent monitoring. Along with the warmer weather boosting water temps good late spring flows are needed to trigger spawning, which is why #waterfortheenvironment is being delivered over the next week or so to make the most of this golden (perch) opportunity. 19.01.2022 Magic shot of ibis nests in the Barmah Forest. Australian White ibis and Straw-necked ibis are now starting to breed in a Barmah Forest wetland. It is expected Royal Spoonbills will also start very soon.

17.01.2022 Another very exciting pic from Barmah! The Australasian bittern (listed as endangered in Victoria) is a highly cryptic (camouflaged/hiding) species that lives in dense reeds where they are very difficult to see. The call of the male during breeding season is unmistakable - a loud, throaty deep penetrating boom that resonates throughout the wetlands. It is thought that this was why it was regarded by Aboriginal people as the feared Bunyip in the swamps and is why it's also ...known as the Bunyip bird. 13.01.2022 Thanks again to #ARI for more snaps of our piscatorial friends in King Parrot Creek. Survey results are positive with Macquarie Perch numbers up on last year. Researchers also reported that all fish collected were in excellent condition, which is indicative of the steady flows over the past few months. Goulburn Broken CMA Fishcare Victoria Inc. 01.01.2022 Join us for a farm walk and Q&A in Nagambie on April 21 to look into and share experiences with #plannedgrazing also termed #regenerativegrazing. In 2018 Donna and James Winter-Irving set up some planned grazing monitoring sites to learn how to implement the practice and to understand its impact on the natural resources of their farm and their farm business. The sites were developed after Donna and Jim completed a planned grazing course with Graeme Hand and Col Sies, and ...are part of a GB CMA project. Donna and Jim run sheep and are comparing the difference in 90-day and 180-day grazing recovery periods as well as the effects of different stock densities. Numbers are limited and registration is essential - more info here: https://www.gbcma.vic.gov.au//farm-walk-planned-grazing.ht This project is supported by Goulburn Broken CMA through funding from the National Landcare Program.
