24.01.2022 Recently been liaising with Bruce Tilley who has uncovered two mysteries that he needs further info on. 1. A remarkable discovery as a shed in a back yard in Silverton was this Kanazawa Coach, which had been repowered with a Commer TS3. History a complete mystery !! It must take the prize for the first Japanese import ! The helpful owner told me he & his mate, who owned a Commer "knocker" truck bought it - he for a shed, & his mate for the Commer "knocker" motor in it. All he... knew that it was a school bus somewhere in S.A. He kindly donated the unusual badges to me (one for my collection, & the other for a good friend in W.A. also an avid collector). No sign of Hino, Isuzu etc on the steering wheel centre, or on the builders plate, so I assumed it was an integral. I also assumed that the badges are Kanazawa Coach, but since visiting Japan where a lot of operators have their own logo as a badge on their buses, I have my doubts. The builders plate (which I also have) states "Kanazawa Coach. Kanazawa Sangyo Co. Ltd." & is stamped 35 (which would be the Heisei number for 1960, then the builders number 600450. If you include it in your book, someone may recognize it & throw some more light on it. 2. An ex Austrian Post Bus Saurer (body unknown) in a yard at Airport West. Never saw or heard of it again. Any one recognise the body builder? Where did it end up? Paul Kennelly Geoffrey Foster Alan Greenhill Peter Kane
23.01.2022 Hi all, Have a bit of an update on GBNF 8 - Bodybuilders. The plan is to list alphabetically with AU builders first and then imports after that. Might have to restrict it to new imports though?... So far, I’m up to early Custom Coaches days (73-79) and I’m already at page 402!! Aagh..what a project to take on. I’ve got to get to Waddington and then complete the imports. The way it’s shaping up, it maybe 2-3 volumes... doh! Plus I’m so busy with Cert 3 instructing one day a week and plus my volunteer tasks with NSW Health and Stroke Foundation it will be completed as soon as possible, but I suspect it’s next year. If you’re interested in a copy, start saving your pennies now please as it will be expensive. I expect smaller numbers of orders and that pushes the price up further. It will most likely be the last in the Gone but not Forgotten Series and will be a huge addition to the series. If you can, no obligation, please let me if you are interested and if you would want a hard or soft copy. We will do our usual marketing strategy when we near completion. Best method to inform us is via [email protected] or Messenger please. Thanks everyone for your patience, it will be worthwhile. Tony & Amanda
