23.01.2022 5 Common Vehicle Problems that Needs an Auto Air Conditioning Repair Vehicle air conditioning systems are a standard part of an automobiles features in many countries. Some vehicle owners do not acknowledge a problem when it comes to this part of the car. In turn, they pay heavy fees just to get the air conditioning replaced. Any problem could be fixed by an auto air conditioning repair service, if you know whats wrong. Todays article will focus on the five common problems... vehicle owners encounter with their air conditioning. Auto Air Conditioning Repair The first common problem is low refrigeration levels of the car air conditioner. Did you know that the refrigerant used in a vehicles air conditioning reduces by 15% annually? This causes a decrease in the level of refrigeration of the cars air conditioner. This is especially true during the winter season, where air conditioning is often not used. It could result in the seal drying out which deteriorates the performance of the unit. The second problem is the complication within the mechanism of the air conditioner. The performance of your air conditioning system might stem from a series of mechanical problems such as compressor malfunction, defective compressor clutch, outdated pressure switches, and non-working valves. These things could lead to the poor cooling performance of the vehicles air conditioning. The third problem could come from a soiled condenser. The condenser is the one that cools the high-pressure refrigerant vapour that exits the compressor. If you condenser has dirt, grime or debris stuck inside of it, these objects will cause a blockage of some sort. This will constrict the air flow and as a result it will not emit cool air. The fourth problem is abnormal moisture contamination of the air conditioner. Generally an air conditioner lowers the temperature of the interior of the car while also cooling, drying, and cleaning the air. It will force the warm air to be released outside, so if moisture or debris contaminates the air conditioner installed in the car, it will not cool down the inside of your car properly. The last problem an air conditioner can have is a pungent car interior. If your air conditioner is not in use then there are unwanted development of bacteria, fungi, and micro-organisms. These germs could grow rapidly behind the dashboard if left untreated, which could significantly affect the vehicles interior. You have to be wary of these problems so that your air conditioning system would perform well for a very long time. If you think your vehicles air conditioner needs fixing then please give us a call.

22.01.2022 Retrofit for Older A/C Systems If your car was made prior to 1994 or is an import vehicle, it is highly likely that your A/C system is running on R12 refrigerant. The Government has since ceased production of this refrigerant and relaced it with a new ozone friendly gas called 134A. R12 systems cannot be filled any longer and consequently will need Retro Fitting to the enviroment approved 134A refrigerant. ... Retro Fitting is a straight forward conversion of your exsisting system. Certain components of the existing system are removed and replaced with parts that are compatable to the new refrigerant. If your A/C system is needing to be regassed and you are unsure which gas your vehicle operates with, just call our office and book in for a free inspection and we will identify whether your car needs retro fitting or not. Some of the factors that have to be addressed when retrofitting the A/C system include: Changes in refrigerant oil A/C System Flush Change of drier or accumulator Caution with condenser design Caution regarding compressor Cooling and/or cooling fan operation Installation of HPCO (High Pressure Cut Out Switch) Installation of charge port adapters

20.01.2022 Going away on holidays over Christmas? Our workshop will be closing on 20 December so make sure you come in early to have your air con fixed before you leave.

14.01.2022 The air conditioning system in your car needs to get a regular service, like any technology that has moving parts - they wear out and become inefficient over time. The compressor needs to oil changes to prevent it from seizing up, the air filters become clogged with dirt and bacteria which, aside from being bad for your health, affects the performance of the entire system and it can even cause it to quit working altogether. Its also very important that the rubber seals need ...to be checked for any leaks or deterioration because when they start to leak gas then your air con system will begin to deteriorate and it will cost you more in fuel. New cars lose approximately 20% of their gas in the first two years. The special refrigerant gas in a car air conditioning system is what creates the cooling this gas is compressed via the compressor which makes its temperature drop and that cold gas is pumped through the system to cool the air, which is then circulated through your car. When this gas has started to leak or evaporate the compressor has to work harder and this puts a bigger load on your cars engine meaning you are using even more fuel. To run in top condition the refrigerant gas in your car air conditioner must be recharged completely within four years from the manufacture date and every two to three years after that. By getting an annual Car air-con service you will help prevent costly breakdowns in the future and a well serviced air-con actually saves you money because it uses less petrol. Garden City Auto Air are qualified refrigerant handlers and can perform air conditioning repairs, services and regas on most makes and models.

14.01.2022 When your cars air conditioning isnt cooling the inside of your vehicle, its probably time for a re-gas. Australias different weather patterns can take its toll on your vehicle and providing a comfortable climate inside the car through heating and air conditioning is an important part of looking after it. One of the vital parts of your cars air conditioning system is the evaporator. Designed to remove the heat from inside your vehicle, its essential to your cooing unit,... comfort and sanity. Because it works by absorbing the heat, changing it into vapour and compressing it to cool air through the refrigerant, its most susceptible to corrosion by harmful acids. Usually by this stage, the evaporator is beyond repair. The best way to ensure this doesnt happen to your cars evaporator is by regular air conditioning servicing. With electrical wiring, condensers, compressors and other technical components in the system its important to keep the unit repaired and re-gassed by a professional to keep it working efficiently and safely.

11.01.2022 IS YOUR CAR AIR CONDITIONER READY FOR THE HOT SUMMER? Spring is the perfect time to get your vehicles air conditioner serviced. You may think you dont need to really use it for a few more months, but putting it off may lead to further problems with it. Having your vehicles air conditioner serviced now will help ensure its ready to cool you off when you need it to. Even though its spring, you should still be using your air conditioning system periodically in order to keep... it in better condition. Even turning it on 5-10 minutes per week will go a long way toward helping it to keep running correctly, so the parts dont become dried out. As the temperature begins to warm up, it is important to keep in mind that it is dangerous to leave a dog in your vehicle unattended. The temperature inside a car can double within 10-15 minutes on a hot day. This can be deadly to a dog that is left in the vehicle.

11.01.2022 Your Car Will Need a Re-Gas Every 1-2 Years On average, your vehicles heating and cooling system will need to be serviced or re-gassed every 1-2 years. Whilst some cars can go a good 5+ years without needing to be re-gassed and the air conditioning still working fine, it pays to still keep on top of regular servicing for the compressors sake (the belt-driven device that transfers refrigerant gas into condenser). Even the best running vehicles will lose around 10% of the ga...s in their air conditioning systems annually and as this goes, so will that clean cold air. Your cars air conditioning system should be thought about like the engine and overall performance of your vehicle. You dont wait until your car dies before you get it fixed (well, at least you shouldnt!) so why wait for the heating and cooling system to go before you have it re-gassed or serviced? How often your car air con is re-gassed will eliminate the amount of potential problems it may have down the track.

03.01.2022 Is it true the vehicles air conditioner should be run throughout the whole year? If you are like most drivers you probably only turn your air conditioner on when things heat up. When the weather is warm we all start reaching for those buttons that will give us some quick cool relief. But what you may not realize is that by not using your vehicles air conditioner all year long you may end up costing yourself more money later on! Before you turn away and say that its unreaso...nable to turn the vehicles air conditioner on in winter, or other times of the year when it is not hot out, at least consider the idea. Your air conditioner is made of components that can break down when they are not being used. This means if you use the air conditioner for three months out of the year and the rest of the time it sits, it can be breaking down during those other nine months. By turning your vehicles air conditioner on at least every few weeks, even if it is just for a few minutes, you will keep it working properly. This will help to keep the parts, especially the seals, from becoming dried out. It will also help keep the system from losing refrigerant, which is a reason why after making it all winter you may find it isnt all that cold when you turn it on in the summer. Turning your air conditioner on every few weeks during the cooler months, even for just a few minutes at a time, will help ensure that it keeps working properly during the hotter months, too. In the long run these few minutes spent every few weeks can actually save you money on what you may otherwise spend in air conditioner repairs. So this winter be sure to keep that air conditioner running here and there. Your system will stay working better and you will be glad you did when you see how great it still works come summer time!

03.01.2022 Who should repair or service my car air conditioner? An automotive licensed technician is the best person to service or repair your car air conditioning. They have the right qualifications and are licensed to identify the cause of the leak and repair it to minimise the risk of future leaks. What do I do if my car air conditioning isnt working? If your car air conditioning seems to not be working properly, there could be a refrigerant leak. All car air conditioners use refr...igerant, which, if leaked into the atmosphere, will contribute to global warming. By law, if a leak exists, all faulty parts must be repaired or replaced before it is refilled with refrigerant Look for the tick The tick identifies a business or individual as being authorised to install, service and repair car air conditioning. Without it they may be operating illegally, so always ask to see their licence. The licensing scheme, administered by the Australian Refrigeration Council, exists to help protect you and the environment.
