24.01.2022 Meet Coach Brad Our newest trainer is from Auckland, New Zealand Since 2014, Brad has played for numerous teams in many places - including at a junior college in Wisconsin, USA! He also played for Kings Christian College & played representative basketball in New Zealand ... We sat down with Brad this week, and asked him what are you hoping to achieve at GCBTC, and most excited for? He said: I’m hoping to help achieve your goals, whether you’re new to basketball, or an experienced player. I want to further enhance your strengths and develop weaknesses through the use of effective training that you can apply to your game! Sound good to you? 20.01.2022 Meet Coach Karl Our newest coach was born in Gothenburg, Sweden It all started out by playing basketball in Tasmania at the age of 7 for the Launceston City basketball club before moving to Sweden at the age of 12. In Sweden, Karl played for the club Hogsbo Basket for most of his junior years. During his time with them, they were lucky enough to win the biggest youth European tournament Gothenburg’s Basketball Festival twice 05’ 06’. He was also part of the Swedish nati...onal high school championship team. To top it all off, during high school He changed clubs and moved to Kvarnby Basket.. where he played on the U20 and Div 1 team & they went to the final four! Since graduation high school and playing with Kvarnby at Div 1 for two years, Karl was offered to play at Nassjo Basket. He went on to play one season at Nassjo Basket where he led the league in steals per game and helped his team win the silver medal in the National Championships. After Karl’s season at Nassjo Basket, Australia called & he was offered a development spot with the Gold Coast Blaze in the NBL. He rightfully earned the nickname the Swedish assassin & he played with the Blaze for two years while simultaneously playing with the Gold Coast Rollers in the QBL. After playing professional basketball for a few years, a back injury in 2013 forced Karl to retire... He says; After gaining training techniques & learning skills from some of the best coaches in the world. I am hoping to give back to the younger generation. Tailoring an individual program for each player to assist them reaching their goals and full potential. Creativity and fun will be key during my sessions. 06.01.2022 Meet Coach Clifton Our new Personal Trainer and Development Coach! Clif was born in Tweed Heads and raised right here on the Gold Coast. Believe it or not, he was a tennis star until he discovered his love for basketball at age 12.... Clif has had the opportunity to play basketball around the world, including the USA and Malaysia. Locally, Clif has played for the North Gold Coast Seahawks u21 rep team and SBL. He also played in the Canberra Classic against the NBA academy, u21 Australian Centre of Excellence, and SEABL teams. Over the past few years, he has coached for TSS, Heat Basketball, Celtics and Emmanuel College. Clif says I’m very excited to have the opportunity to train with you guys, watch everyone improve their game, and watching the facility grow! Keen to get on the court! Welcome to the team, Clif!
