25.01.2022 Fencing around the Boro ground in readiness for council ground maintenance.

25.01.2022 I had the opportunity to watch some of the DVCA U12 Girls play today in round four of the VMCU Representative Carnival. All of the team did so well but of course I’m so terribly proud of of our Boro Girls- Jessica Aquilina Bailee Bowden Dakota Edmonds ... A massive thank you to their parents for giving up holidays to drive and support the girls! Especially Jessica’s mum Tamara Aquilina who is superwoman Team Manager. Our Junior Cricket Manager Rohan Edmonds is coaching the team giving up so much time for the girls to achieve some fabulous personal cricket milestones.

19.01.2022 Exciting times ahead for our pavilion which was opened in our 1960/61 season, looking forward to this much needed upgrade thanks to the hard work of the Greensborough Coterie Group and the support of Colin Brooks, the Victorian Government and the Banyule Council.

19.01.2022 Just because the Club is currently closed doesn’t mean that no one is available if you need to talk. Not being able to talk face to face should be no barrier to staying in touch. I’m always available if you need someone to talk to - 0425726401

19.01.2022 Vale Jim O'Brien The Greensborough Cricket Club is saddened to learn of the passing of our Life Member, Mr Jim O'Brien. Our thoughts are with his wife Pat, children Dennis, Gayle, Jenny and Colin, together with their families at this sad time.... Jim was 93 years old and despite moving to Hervey Bay some time ago remained engaged in the GCC and was thrilled to receive his Life Member polo shirt last season. Jim's dedication to the Club was recognised by his Life Membership and in 1964 he was the fourth person to be awarded the honour in the Club's long history for his services both on and off the field. Jim's contribution to the Club will be recognised both on and off the field at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.

18.01.2022 Hi all, I'm pleased to update you on last night's AGM, which was held and in accordance with the current Covid-19 restrictions by going online. Thank you to all who took part in the meeting. Nominations for the positions were received prior to the meeting and our constitution allowed for this. Our club secretary will have the meeting minutes available for perusal shortly.... The makeup of the new committee is as follows; President: Andrew Cleary Vice President: Scott Meckiff Secretary: Simon Fatouros Treasurer: TBA Asst Treasurer: Michael Cosgrave Junior Co-Ordinator: Lauren Cleary Junior Manager: Rohan Edmonds General Committee: Matt Christie, Chris Hall, Mark Hodgson, Adam Lowe, Trent McNamara, Clint Scully, Matthew Vilchez, Thomas Vilchez Public Officer: Keith Bainbridge The role of treasurer still hasn't been filled so if anyone is interested or knows someone at the club who may have the skill set required to help out, please let me know. Mick Cosgrave is happy to offer support in this role but is unable to be at the club on weekdays. I am pleased to welcome first timers to the committee in Matt Christie, Rohan Edmonds, Chris Hall, Mark Hodgson, Adam Lowe and Clint Scully. New people bring fresh ideas and all will offer different ideas and valuable input. Thanks very much to all who have put their hands up for off-field roles. The club does not run on love alone and it takes a team effort to keep the cogs turning. Season 2020/21 will provide unique challenges no one in our lifetimes has experienced and we will need everyone to be on the same page to pull through it. The Club will provide updates on pre-season training, expected start and format of the season as they come to hand. Stay safe, sanitise, practice social distancing and look after yourselves and your loved ones. Regards, Andrew Cleary President

This season each junior player is to bring their own training ball to each training session. We will have balls available to purchase for $5 each. I will be at each training session 10 minutes prior to take a cashless payment via eftpos. Each ball needs to be labeled and each child must take full responsibility for their ball. 05.01.2022 Hello to all our GCC Junior Families, I’m so pleased to be able to bring some positive news regarding cricket for the 2020/21 season. Cricket Victoria have been working closely with associations and clubs to ensure the children will play cricket in a covid safe environment. Cricket Victoria has produced a return to play and train manual which as a club GCC will be adopting completely. Clubs in regional areas are already putting these into practice so it gives us an advantage ...to see how things work. This of course means cricket will look different but safety is the top priority. Some of the changes - * training - commencing from the 26th of October (team schedule to be set) * Season dates - we are now looking at a season start date of mid November * Length of season - 12 weeks * Cost of season - With a reduced season and families under financial stress GCC have halved the cost of their Junior program for the 2020/21 season. * Under 10s and girls cricket -$55 * Under 12,14,16 - $65 * Equipment - unfortunately there will be NO sharing of equipment. For players who do not already own their own equipment, GCC will look at season loans for players who need to access equipment. * Spectators - Unlike senior cricket the Cricket Victoria guidelines does allow for a limited number of parents to be at the ground on match day, there are of course strict guidelines to follow. What Now - Please register players now - It’s important to register each player as soon as possible so the club can move forward with setting up the season. When registering you need your child’s My Cricket ID. If you are not sure please contact me for the number. Kind regards, Lauren and the Junior Committee Follow the link and select the age group https://playreg.cricket.com.au/pages/reg/welcome.aspx
