17.01.2022 Hi members, It is with great sadness that we inform everyone that we have lost a great man in Don Whittle. Donny was a proud serving active committee member for 6 years from 1998 to 2003. He was treasurer for five of those seasons and was President of the club in 2003/04. We pass on our condolences to Ben (his son and also former Flipper) and his family and ask everyone to spare a thought for a salt of the earth man that Donny was and will be remembered for being.... Our teams playing this weekend will wear black armbands as a mark of respect for Don and his family. Benny is very appreciative of this. The family will be holding a wake for Don at Palm Beach Surf Club most likely on Saturday, details to be confirmed. They would love any of the members who knew him to join them for a drink and a yarn!

15.01.2022 BANGLADESH WOMENS TRAINING CAMP The Dolphins are proud to be hosting the Bangladesh Womens T20 side for a training camp at Bill Pippen Oval from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 13 February. There will be training each week day and three practice matches, on the 7th, 10th and 12th. The club will be used for Grade matches on the weekend as normal. ... This is great for our profile and raises valuable funds for the club. The club is welcome to come down to watch, support and meet the team! We will publish the training and match times as soon as they are confirmed. We are asking for volunteers to help during the training sessions. 12.01.2022 DOLPHINS FACILITIES UPGRADE NEWS We are delighted to announce that the project to upgrade the Dolphins club facilities has been approved and the planning process is well underway! Work is scheduled to begin immediately at the end of this season (beginning April 2020), and all going well, will be ready in September for our 2020/21 season!... The project will involve: Upgrading the facilities to Tier 2 status. This technically means that we would be able to host womens international matches, international mens A series and tour matches, one day and Sheffield Shield, and WBBL and BBL games! Significant upgrades to the change-rooms and amenities to accommodate and enhance the needs of womens and mens players. Upgrades to the clubroom and viewing area. Phase 1, in 2020, will be a single level upgrade with all of the above features installed. Phase 2 will be the addition of a second storey, with additional facilities, rooms and viewing areas. These upgrades will be an incredible boost to cricket on the Gold Coast, and of course for the Dolphins. This will mean some adaptions for our end of season function (announcements will be made soon in this regard) and any off-season activities. We will keep you updated of progress as the plans are finalized. Thank you specifically to Jeff Pfaff for his enormous efforts, as well as Queensland Cricket, Cricket Australia, the Queensland State Government and the Gold Coast City Council, and the architects and contractors for the significant effort they have put in to help us get this project off the ground. Cheers, Nigel

11.01.2022 Attention all Dolphins Supporters. WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!!! Our club is built for and by the Gold Coast community to support young men and women in realising their cricketing ambitions, and provides a hub for players, families, friends and supporters to be part of the Dolphins family. ... A huge part of our club culture is built around the amazing volunteers who support us in so many ways, on game day, behind the scenes, with offerings of time, energy and pure enthusiasm! We would love to grow our volunteer base to support our players and our club better, and to help with the growing number of projects as the club continues to grow and thrive. No matter whether you are a player, a parent, a sibling, a friend, alumni or a supporter, it doesn't matter! No matter how little or how much you think you can offer, it doesn't matter! We would love to have you on board! (We even have a volunteer dog who collects the balls lost in the creek!) Some of the things we could use a hand with... Game day support, team managers and helpers, clubhouse, canteen and bar, scoring, projects, social media, social functions, you could even be the club statistician if your heart so desired! If you have an opportunity to help out, generally, with time, or with a skill you think we could use, speak to our lovely volunteer Club Secretary, Kellie either at the club or email [email protected]. Go Fins! Bigger and Better in 20/21 Cheers Nigel
