25.01.2022 Announcement! We just won the award for GLOBAL Shorts Winner of 2021!!! An IMDB recognised award for the music video in which we provided dogs Harper & Bandit. Produced by Jacob Lee the Australian Music Artist who found fame after he appeared on ‘The Voice’. ... Of course we jumped at the chance to work with Jacob a Gold Coast local, (Emma even came back from her holiday 4 days early!) to provide dogs for his music video & his single ‘Gone the days’. We spent two 15 hour days with Jacob & his team working hard to film the dogs & we are all so happy with the outcome! The amount of work that goes into the dogs training to enable them to perform to this standard is months and months of repetition, proofing, patience, practice & love A great song, beautiful voices, trained dogs & now a GLOBAL award! Wow! You can check it out here 1st! https://youtu.be/rAksQhnfmoE A huge Thank you for letting us be a part of this: @jacobleemusic @tenofswordsmedia & so grateful to have met you & now call you a friend Thanks to @jarranp @banditsgram_bc @emmalush__ @jmurds21 ~ Emma ~ Owner/Head Trainer GCDT #dogsofgc #goldcoast #dogtrainer #goldcoastpuppy #gcdogwalking #boardercollie #dogsofinsta #instadog #lovedogs #instagramdog #cutedog #puppies #dog #dogsofinstagram #dogsintv #tvdog #dogsinmovies #filmstardog #tvstardog #famousdogs #famousdogsofinstagram #jacoblee #jacobleemusic #thevoice #music #singersongwriter #globalawards #musicawards #winner #musicislife

19.01.2022 Cody at 13 years old still helping to train the puppy’s at the weekend. Jasper & Onyx. In life who you surround yourself with is so incredibly important, as it is for our dogs. Who’s the calming influence in your dogs life? The 400 dogs you meet at the dog park on a weekly basis?... Your screaming toddler? Your neighbours dog who visits & jumps, bites & chases your dog around the yard? You, chasing your dog around every time it steals a sock? Its very easy for a dog to get rilled up, what’s hard is going slow. So if you don’t create calm they won’t be any...... So again, who’s the calming influence in your dog’s life & what exactly do YOU do to create calm? Let’s help each other out here & share your ideas. Drop your answers in the comments!

13.01.2022 Welcome Penelope to board & train! We have a lot of work to do on confidence with this little one as she can be frightened around strangers/other dogs and as a result has been a little snappy. We will also be covering all of the basic commands such as walking nicely on a lead, stays, recall plus a tonne more! Keep an eye on our stories for progress. (Isn’t she cute!? )
13.01.2022 The ‘L’ Plates are off!!! A first for Queensland?! Big smiles here today as Daisy qualifies for her public access training & becomes an official peanut allergen detection/assistance dog (Possibly the first in Queensland?) Yay go Daisy! We are so so proud *Daisy’s Story * ... Owner Simone has a life threatening allergy to peanut, so severe that she doesn’t even have to consume or touch peanut to go into anaphylactic shock. There is an airborne protein in peanut which means if Simone walks into a room with peanut present - it could kill her. From when Simone first met Daisy at 3 weeks old she started looking into training Daisy in allergen detection. For months she was unable to find anyone in Queensland. Trainers either didn’t have the expertise or simply wouldn’t take Daisy on. By chance Simone was at a pet expo where she again approached several trainers to no avail & was overheard by one of Gold Coast dog trainers clients. Simone contacted us & Emma agreed to trial Daisy to see if she had the temperament & skill to become a search dog & assistance dog. It wasn’t a service we were offering at the time, however with Emma’s extensive knowledge of training explosive search dogs in the UK she knew it was a task she could easily train with the right dog. Daisy excelled in the trial & on her first day she was indicating with a sit successfully on small peanut searches. Today Daisy is a valuable asset (and much loved pet at home!) to Simone in keeping her safe from harm. In conjunction with canine helpers Daisy can now go everywhere with her, places such as public transport/aeroplane’s & perform tasks such as check food at restaurants/cafes. This training makes Simone’s life so much more stress free & could ultimately one day save her life. From August Gold Coast Dog Trainer, in conjunction with Canine Helpers will be commencing a program to train more of these amazing dogs. We hope to raise awareness for allergy sufferers & bring a better quality of life to those who struggle daily with this issue. 11.01.2022 A huge thank you to @samgilmorephotography for the beautiful photos of Emma’s Cody & Tia. If you want some beautiful photos of your pets to treasure we can’t recommend @samgilmorephotography more highly. Not only does he take amazing photos he’s awesome too. Thanks so much Sam!
08.01.2022 Today we saw Stormy go home after his board & train. He arrived your typical high energy working breed, with a few unruly behaviours such as pulling on lead, door barging, excessive biting, jumping up, running off with objects, not staying on his bed & overall very excitable & exuberant! It doesn’t have to be this way.....after spending time at Emma’s place he walks perfectly to heel, sits & waits at the door, comes when called, drops things when asked, doesn’t jump up all over people & biting has substantially subsided amongst other things like walking round to heel, spinning & overall calm & listening skills improved. Thank you so much for trusting us with your puppy Storm, he was so enjoyable to train & look forward to catching up soon for your follow up! @chelsea.becirevic @clairemitchell_xx_

02.01.2022 Bad behaviour never goes away on its own. In fact the more it is practiced the more it manifests. Heard the saying practice makes perfect? Those small minor offences such as barging out through the door, pulling on the lead, pulling to sniff at that one tree, scratching at the door to be let in, fence running at the neighbours dog, jumping on people (My personal pet peeve - I’ve had 2 fat lips in 2 days from dogs at the park...) crying when left alone, will almost certainly ...lead to major offences such as explosions on lead, uncontrollable energy, incessant barking, seperation anxiety and the list goes on. These are all symptoms of a bigger problem, a lack of leadership, rules, boundaries & sometimes a lack of exercise & enrichment. Your dog requires a daily amount of exercise & enrichment. Your dog requires a consistent daily amount of rules/boundaries until they start making the right decisions on their own. Your dog requires an amount of love & affection based on it having been earned. Whilst you may see me giving out love/pats/praise/treats to a dog....it must have ALWAYS first earned these things from me. Exercise, Rules, boundaries, calm always come first before any free love is given. None of the dogs I see are lacking in the ‘love’ department. They are all suffering the effects of its over indulgence. When a dog only see’s its owners permissive side, the side that coodles, spoils, dishes out treats and you neglect to follow through with any rule setting, you are allowing & giving your dog the green light to act like a jerk. Without enforcing rules & boundaries in any social group there’s going to be chaos. Dogs are opportunistic and any lack of commitment on your part (I was in a rush to get out the door - letting your dog drag you out opposed to enforcing a sit & wait) lack of consistency or follow through will ensure your dog takes full advantage & will undermine you in terms of the way your dog views your ability to take control. So why would they listen to you? Start setting some rules, stop dishing out the free love & be consistent. When your dog realises there are repercussions to their bad behaviours & they don’t achieve what they want through being pushy & bratty, watch how they start making better decisions. Nothing in life is free right? Take control, your dogs depend on you. ~Emma~ Photography thanks to Sam Gilmore Sam Gilmore Photography
01.01.2022 We would like to say a huge thank you to Penelope’s owners @racheljdillon & @claytonmusumeci for trusting Emma with your precious little one for a board & train. Penelope came on leaps & bounds in her training, learning new commands & growing in confidence to the extent she went from a being frightened & slightly snappy at strangers to greeting people happily! She even made a tonne of new friends where previously she was scared of new dogs. She stole Emmas heart & here is just a small snippet of her time with us. We look forward to catching up soon for our follow up to see how she’s getting on! Give her a big cuddle
