25.01.2022 Too good not to share @_harrrryy_

25.01.2022 We rely on our feet everyday to keep us mobile and independent, when issues occur, this has a strain not only on our physical, but psychological well-being. A 2018 study of 1000 people found that almost half of Australians (42%) have experienced some sort of lower limb pain. 3 out of 5 of these people admit they never sought advice regarding their foot health. Seeking early intervention and obtaining proper foot care advice is key to preventing further complications.... Come see a Podiatrist today!!

24.01.2022 Will never get sick of these views

19.01.2022 FRIDAY FOOT FACTS!!

19.01.2022 Friday foot facts!

19.01.2022 "Covid toes" are the latest curious finding of the coronavirus pandemic. The first reports about these purple coloured lesions, came from Italy in late March, most commonly found in children and young adults. Italian doctors published a study at this time signalling a trend in skin issues. 1 in 5 patients had a skin issue, most commonly a red rash or hive like eruption.... Experts suggest blood clotting could be related to these skin issues. Dr Joanna Harp, a dermatologist at Weill Cornell Medicine states, "it is not yet known what causes the clotting tendency but there is some suggestion that the virus may over stimulate the immune system in certain patients.band this overzealous immune response could somehow trigger a downstream clotting tendency." The American Academy of Dermatology COVID-19 task force announced an online registry for health care providers around the world to report suspected COVID-19 skin findings. Although there is still a lot of research to be carried out, as Podiatrists we should be aware of these possible symptoms (Images from Spanish general council of official podiatrist college website.) @ Gold Coast, Queensland

13.01.2022 After arriving in Australia from Ireland almost 4 years ago, one major thing I noticed - Aussies love to go barefoot!! Beach Walks Woolies ... Anywhere With the majority of people living along the coastline, going to the beach is a regular occurrence. A morning dip may have many benefits, however I need to stress the importance of bringing moisture back into the skin after our salt water swim. We see numerous patients who suffer with cracked heels, fissures and callus. This can be very uncomfortable and is a breeding ground for bacterial and fungal infections. This can be particularly detrimental to our patients with underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, who have compromised immunity. We spend so much $$$ on cleansers, toners, serums, eye creams, moisturisers and all other types of lotions and potions for our face but our poor feet get neglected until the biannual drop of emollient put on them LETS SHOW OUR FEET THE SAME LOVE! Come and see a Podiatrist today for an assessment, treatment and long term management of your feet Booking available online

10.01.2022 Are feet and hips related? ABSOLUTELY!! Most dancers are required to stay high on their toes for extended periods of time. This requires strength not only from the foot and ankle but mainly from our core and glutes, which affect our hips. In order for our bodies to stay high on our toes when jumping, we need a stable pelvis to absorb the forces we have created. ... Many dancers don't realise they have an anterior pelvic tilt caused by: Weak abdominals Weak glutes Tight back extensors Tight hip flexors If your pelvis is tilted forward, this creates an internal rotation of the leg, overpronation of the foot and your heels will drop. Not only will this effect your dancing technically, but it causes quick fatigue and joint injuries. Book online now for a full biomechanical examination and more information on strength and conditioning training Stay tuned for more dancing related posts @ Gold Coast, Queensland

08.01.2022 Coffee, activewear and TOMs!! @toms have been one of my favourite brands over the past decade. 06.01.2022 Last weekend was spent learning new techniques and continuing professional development (CPD) FMT consists of mobilisation and manipulation of joints in the foot to help realign the legs, knees and hips. This will not only help regain movement, but also normalise the stresses upon muscles, collagenous tissues, blood & lymphatic vessels, therefore improving function.... (British Journal of Sports Medicine) This can be beneficial for a range of conditions including: - Plantar Fasciitis/Heel pain - Bunions - Ankle sprains - Arthritis - Morton's Neuroma In addition to a specific exercise programme, FMT is a great alternative to orthotics, allowing you to experience greater freedom with footwear whilst also having reduced pain. @ Gold Coast, Queensland
