21.01.2022 This September, Lions clubs are raising awareness of childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2009, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCR...F), with the help of people just like you, has raised over $10 million dollars for childhood cancer research and has supported countless Australian organisations leading the fight against childhood cancer. Of particular significance has been the partnership with Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where ALCCRF and Lions Clubs International helped to fund the genome sequencing of 400 children with high risk cancer, allowing for more tailored treatment plans to be developed and giving kids with cancer a better chance at recovery and the childhood they deserve. https://alccrf.lions.org.au/lions-kids-cancer-genome-proje/

18.01.2022 Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation has announced it will provide $1.05 million of funding to the Telethon Kids Institute. The funding will su...pport the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre’s vital research aimed at improving survival rates, longevity and quality of life for children with cancer. At Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation we believe every child deserves a chance at a healthy life, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation Chairperson John Thorpe said. We are very proud to be providing $1.05 million worth of funding to Telethon Kids. Chair of the Telethon Kids Institute, the Hon. Julie Bishop, said they are excited to be partnering with such a well-respected, community-oriented organisation like Lions Australia. We are so grateful for Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation’s support, Ms Bishop said. This $1.05 million in funding will enable the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre to continue its leading research into childhood cancer particularly in the area of cancer immunotherapy, which focuses on supercharging the body’s natural defences to destroy cancer cells. Mr Thorpe described cancer immunotherapy as one of the most exciting and promising cancer treatments being developed, particularly for childhood cancer. It is our hope that this work will benefit kids all over Australia and beyond, he said. More than 800 children aged 0-14 years are diagnosed with cancer in Australia each year. Many of these cancers are aggressive and hard to treat and we are losing too many young lives. https://www.telethonkids.org.au//childhood-cancer-researc/ #201Q1 #Q1Lions #AnotherLionsProject #201Q1MonthlyProjects # ALCCRF #AustralianLionsChildhoodCancerResearchFoundation

15.01.2022 Lions love turtles. As a way to help us raise awareness during international childhood cancer awareness month, our amazing partners at the Gold Coast Tallebudge...ra Lions Club dedicated their recent Bunnings BBQ to our project. We raised $1200 in proceeds and another $340 in direct donations with three different sausage sizzle customers putting $50 in the donation tin after reading about the project. These special sausages not only taste great and fill your belly but also warm your heart too. A huge thank you to the Bunnings Burleigh Waters team for inviting our Lions Club to run the BBQ, and lots of turtle hugs for our Lions partners who are always sending love through the stars in support of our project. #supermaxandbryce #liveyourgratitude #lovethroughthestars #bunningsisawesome

06.01.2022 September is international childhood cancer awareness month. One of our main goals along with sharing love, hope, happiness and comfort with superheroes in trea...tment and their families is to help raise awareness of issues related to childhood cancer. The importance of feeling connected to others is critical to health and wellbeing, and that’s what we create with our Super Max the Turtle and other star-covered and love-filled gifts. We’d like to kick off this special month by introducing you to superhero Lochlan. He is 5 years old. He has optic nerve glioma which are on his left and right optic nerves. He also has one in his brain. He was diagnosed on June 30th 2020. He is braver than Spider Man and stronger than the Hulk. His cape is cooler than Dr. Strange’s and he sleeps with a turtle. His superhero smile inspires us beyond words. And now he is connected to all of us - all of the superheroes, superfamilies and supersupporters who are part of our Super Max & Bryce family. Welcome to our special family Lochlan. We sleep with turtles and share never ending love through the stars. We’re all in this together. #supermaxandbryce #liveyourgratitude #lovethroughthestars #cloudb

05.01.2022 From Happy Snaps SAAF/SALM With gratitude to the author ... A man, who regularly attended family meetings suddenly without any notice stopped participating. Aft...er a few weeks, one very cold night the leader of that group decided to visit him. He found the man at home, alone, sitting in front of a fireplace where a bright fire burned. The man welcomed the leader. There was a great silence. The two men only watched the dancing flames around the logs that crackled in the fireplace. After a few minutes the leader, without saying a word, examined the woods that formed the fire and selected one of them, glowing most brightly of all, removing it to the side with a pair of tongs. Then he sat down again. The host was paying attention to everything, fascinated. Before long, the lone member flame subsided, until there was only a momentary glow & the fire soon went out. In a short time what was previously bright light and heat had become nothing more than a black & dead piece of wood. Very few words had been spoken since the greeting. Before preparing to leave, the leader with the tongs picked up the useless piece of wood & placed it again in the middle of the fire. Immediately, the member piece of wood was rekindled, fueled by the light & heat of the burning coals around him. When the leader reached the door to leave, the host said: Thank you for your visit and for your beautiful lesson. I'll return to the group soon. Why is a group important? Very simple: Because each member that withdraws takes fire & heat from the rest. It's worth reminding group members that they are a part of the flame. It's also good to remind us that we are all responsible for keeping each other's flame burning And we must promote the union among us so that the fire is really strong, effective and lasting. *THE* *GROUP* *IS* *ALSO* *A* *FAMILY* *It doesn't matter if sometimes we are bothered by so many messages, quarrels and misunderstandings*. What matters is to be connected. We are here to meet, learn, exchange ideas or simply to know that we are not alone.* *Let's keep the flame alive.* Life is beautiful with friends & family. *THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR FAMILY FIRE* Lets keep it burn See more

01.01.2022 A global pandemic didn’t erase the need to feed the hungry, develop our youth, help the sick, or rebuild communities. It merely overshadowed it, while complicating our ability to raise funds critical to our service. You are key to reaching our goal: https://bit.ly/2FAyDeu
