19.01.2022 FACTUAL FRIDAY Coffs/Clarence Police have received numerous complaints from members of the public in relation to unregistered / uninsured trail bikes riding in ...the Boambee East, Toormina & Sawtell areas. The trail bikes are riding on public roads, through reserves, and also in National Parks and Wildlife areas. These are road / road related areas as defined under the Road Transport Act. The associated infringements have substantial financial penalties: Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 Compulsory insurance - Use uninsured motor vehicle $697.00 Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 1988 Unregistered vehicles and vehicles upon which tax has not been paid - Owner use vehicle on road/road related area with tax unpaid $697.00 Owner permit vehicle to be driven/used with tax unpaid $697.00 There is a risk to members of the public utilising these areas lawfully (including other motor vehicles).
