19.01.2022 Funds from the COVID-19 Community Chest, a joint project between the GECT and Kyran O’Donnell MLA, were used to add a bit of cheer to some families’ Christmas. Food vouchers were purchased from local businesses and we also contributed to Christmas in the Park, which was run by EPIC this year, with many volunteers giving up their time to ensure everyone had a a happy Christmas. Thank you to those who donated to the Community Chest, including Northern Star and Saracen, two companies who put a lot back into our community.

18.01.2022 Thanks to EBM for once again sponsoring the GECT to be part of the KBCCI Christmas Business After Hours at Hammond Park. Usually businesses donate prizes for the event but as we are a charity, we instead donated 6 x $200 vouchers for school supplies for Goldfields Schools, presenting those drawn out with a Certificate Paying it Forward. Thanks to the good sports who had their names pulled out; Dean Parker from RED’s Mechanical, Gary Cormack from Snap, Ryan McNally from Ausminer Financial Group, David Robertson from Roly Industries and Emma and Kelsie from Highgrade Personnel. I am sure the schools will appreciate the donations.

07.01.2022 Another project made possible by funds from Mining Legends. The GECT is proud to be a partner of Mining Legends in helping to distribute funds to the community. Recently funds were allocated to new bathrooms at the Goldfields Women's Refuge. Pictured are Mandy, Manager GWR; Lisa, Chair GECT and Joselyn, Mining Legends Director. The money raised by Mining Legends is making a positive impact in our community in many ways and this is just one of them. The Refuge's bathrooms were in dire need of an upgrade and without this support from Mining Legends, this renovation would not have been possible.

05.01.2022 In conjunction with Kyran O’Donnell MLA, Member for Kalgoorlie, we have decided to use those funds raised through our COVID-19 Community Chest to assist those families and individuals in need this Christmas. We know it’s been a tough year in 2020 so we will be buying vouchers from various local businesses to pass on to make Christmas that little bit more cheerful. We are buying vouchers from local businesses, as we believe supporting local businesses is so important, not jus...t now, but always. Please nominate yourself or someone you think is worthy by contacting Kyran O’Donnell’s office via email [email protected] or by visiting his office at 227 Hannan St, Kalgoorlie by the 20th of December. The Goldfields is an amazing place to live and we have tremendous community spirit and we thank all those many other organisations that are helping to spread Christmas Cheer. We wish everyone a joyous and safe Christmas and all the best for 2021. See more

05.01.2022 GECT is honoured to be a part of this community project in assisting to distribute the funds raised to those groups in need. We have also provided funds to Full Circle Therapies for their Assistive Technologies Project. Outstanding initiative from Mining Legends/Worthy Cause. Thanks to everyone involved for all your hard work.
