22.01.2022 Whooping cough is a respiratory infection which is easily spread and easy to catch. It begins as a cold and then the characteristic cough develops which can last for weeks. It can be spread by coughing and sneezing and is particularly serious in babies less than twelve months of age. Immunisation is the best way to prevent whooping cough. Did you know that immunisation is free for pregnant women and their partners from 28 weeks gestation? It is recommended that childcare, healthcare workers and some adults should be vaccinated especially if they are in close contact with babies.
