19.01.2022 St Matthias Church WW1 Honour Roll Restoration project ensures the Veterans from this Church will be forever remembered. It was brought to us by the St Matthias Church for restoration and with support from the Queensland Government, it was made possible. This piece of memorabilia is so unique which made this project a privilege to be a part of.

13.01.2022 Hi Team, This may not apply directly to yourself however it may apply to your loved ones or friends. On 1 October 2019, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) introduced treatment cycle arrangements for referrals from general practitioners (GPs) to allied health providers (AHP).... Are you a DVA client, GP or AHP that has transitioned to the treatment cycle arrangements? Have your say on the changes, as part of an evaluation. This survey is an important part of better understanding the needs and experiences of veterans and health professionals. Complete the confidential 10 minute survey here - https://survey.qut.edu.au/f/195211/2ad4/ If you know other veterans or health providers who have transitioned to the treatment cycle arrangements, share this link with them too! 13.01.2022 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after WW1 - has become a day to remember all those who served and all those who sacrificed in wars and conflicts since. It is marked by a minute's silence in solemn ceremonies in towns and cities across Australia, and many people wear poppies on their lapels in remembrance. Our Remembrance Day service was commemorated by a large crowd consisting of Veterans, Politicians and ...the General Public. After the service, a function was held inside the Newman's room located within the club. During this function a special presentation was given to Trish Wallace on behalf of her late husband WW2 Rat of Tobruk Veteran, Gordon Wallace. Gordon being a WW2 Veteran, was awarded the Medallion that commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW2. The function then continued over refreshments where Veterans and the public could share stories and make memories. Our upcoming commemorative events for 2021 will be Tobruk Day 10th of April, Kapyong Day 24th of April and ANZAC Day 25th of April. We look forward to seeing you all commemorating with us again. Lest We Forget. Geebung RSL

06.01.2022 Yesterday on the 1st of November we had an eventful Members Meeting held at Geebung RSL. Over 70 members attended with business including but not limited to RSL Queensland AGM nominations, Volunteer Initiatives, Membership Awards and a great guest speaker by the name of Tracey Lowe from the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation Tracey spoke at our meeting on a wonderful Sunday morning providing our members and Veterans with insight into the work the GMRF do for Veterans. The ...Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation is a small research institute delivering high impact research to enhance the health and wellbeing of our veterans, their families and the wider Australian community. GMRF has over 45 experienced staff working across: Clinical Trials Unit; Veteran Health Initiative; Liver Disease and Liver Cancer Research Units; Respiratory Research Unit; and the Foundation Development and Administrative Team. They work to better understand and treat major health and well-being issues that affect our veterans and their families GMRF’s research extends from the laboratory to the hospital bedside and out into the wider Australian community and the answers touch everyone. Their Veteran Health Initiative takes a holistic approach to research, and aims to develop evidence-based realistic solutions to enhance the quality of life for our veterans and families. They focus on four key areas: Transition and Reintegration from Service to Civilian Life The Military Family Research Initiative The Healthy Veteran Research Initiative Research Translation and Education It was extremely beneficial to have Tracey come in and explain the Foundations objectives, achievements and treatments to our Veterans.
