25.01.2022 From our friends at NSW RFS but still very relevant down here in Victoria. One spark is all it takes. Make sure your equipment is probably maintained or the area you are working in is cleared of all flammable fuels. And make sure you have a permit to burn off, you are meeting the conditions outlined in the permit and have called ESTA on 1800 668 511 to register your burn or you just might have numerous fire trucks rock up.

23.01.2022 St Albans Park, how well do you know fire? With a urban / rural interface in your area, some properties are located close to or among grass or paddocks Grassfires can be extremely dangerous - people can die in grassfires. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? Dry and brown grass that easily catches fire.... Grass more than 10cm tall will have a higher flame height and intensity. Faster burning than through forests as grass is a finer fuel. Radiant heat (the heat created by a fire). Fires that can start early in the day. Faster moving fires that travel up to 25 km per hour. Now is the time to prepare your property and also have a family meeting and discuss what you need to do should a fire start in your area. For more information, go to the CFA website. www.cfa.vic.gov.au
