23.01.2022 Not all disabilities are visible And most won't stop you from being part of a great Guide Leadership team.
22.01.2022 Today is International Day of People with Disabilities and this year's theme is "Not all disabilities are visible". Girl Guides Victoria is an organisation for... all girls and volunteers, with every level of ability. Here's what some of our Guide Leaders living with disabilities had to say: Highton Friday Guide Leaders: Stronger together We are a team and like any team we have our strengths and weaknesses. Our abilities are many and varied, and so are our disabilities. These range from dyslexia, needing glasses, or walking sticks, through to chronic and complex pain, as well as other conditions. By working as a team, it is easy to accommodate our differences. Not every leader has to be able to reach the top shelf of the cupboard, read the fine text on food labels or be at meetings every week. Rather than being described as accommodating of our disabilities we prefer to think of ourselves as able to play to our abilities to give Girl Guides the very best experience that we can. We're all pieces of the puzzle, and all girls, young women and volunteers fit at Girl Guides! Find out more about IDPW: https://idpwd.org/ #IDPWD2020 #EverythingSheWantsToBe #GirlGuidesVictoria
