17.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we no longer have Brian Johansson with us. He succumbed to cancer last week. Thank you Brian for all the work you did at the Geelong Ballroom. Thank you also for the fun times dancing at the Aged Care Homes. Rest In Peace.

13.01.2022 Hi (all) Corona Virus is certainly having the biggest impact on my life - and probably yours- than virtually anything that has occurred before. More than the GFC. More than virtually everything but my marriage. It has resulted in: 1. Margot suspending all dancing at the VRI until further notice. (If you attend her classes there then please let anyone else you know attends of the suspension.) 2. Pauline has suspended all dancing at the TIA Hall in Torquay until further notice.... This includes the Dance scheduled for Saturday 28th March. 3. The Geelong Ballroom Committee is monitoring the situation and has decided - at least for now - NOT to suspend dancing on Saturday Nights. Music this Saturday 21st is by Ossie. Feature Dance from 7:30 to 8:00 PM will be the Dream Waltz. Music next Saturday 28th is Margot. Feature Dance yet to be confirmed. See more

13.01.2022 A wonderful time had by all today at the Family afternoon. Margot went to so much trouble for all the young people. If you were not there you missed out on a great time. Fantastic.

06.01.2022 The Committee do however ask you: 1. Not to attend if you have any flu like symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or who has returned from USA, Europe, China, Korea or Iran. 2. To let us know if you are diagnosed positive including letting us know who in the dance community you may have been in contact with during your infectious period. Studies to date suggest that the virus is transmitted by contact with respiratory droplets rather than just... being in the air. If you cough do so into a hanky or tissue or your armpit or bicep. Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth if you may have touched a surface that has been coughed upon or touched by someone with the virus.Do not exercise paranoia but please exercise prudent hygiene to a greater extent than normal including, if out and about, not touching surfaces needlessly and also washing hands with soap and water for more than just a fleeting wash.Please limit your greetings to not touching the other person unless they are comfortable with a handshake or similar. Kissing -even cheek brushing -is probably best left alone until this virus is done. The Committee will ask you to leave if it is perceived you may be suffering from flu-like symptoms. However respect the health of other patrons who may be at greater risk than you if you are unwell. Finally, on a brighter note, those who attended last Saturday 14th were treated to marvelous music by Ben accompanied for about half the dances by Anne on the flute.
