25.01.2022 WORKING BEE - SATURDAY JUNE 27th This weekend, the club are hosting a working bee at Barwon Valley Disc Golf Course. We need your help to plant 200 seedlings in 15 new garden beds we are creating as part of the upgrade to the course. The gardens beds will compliment the new 9 concrete tee pads being installed next week! If you have have a few hours to spare, we'd love you to roll up the sleeves and help take part in building the new course!... Date/Time: Sat June 27th - 9am What to bring: Gloves Rake Hammer Wheel barrow (please confirm if you have one) Spade Trowel Before we begin on Sat, we will be assigning groups to ensure we adhere to the current covid-19 restrictions. 25.01.2022 Another great turnout for July League today at Inverleigh! We matched last month's numbers with another 33 players enjoying some disc golf, despite the cold and windy conditions. We've been working on updating our leaderboard and winners for the last couple of leagues, and we now have the results!... Congrats to Terry Bohan for taking out March league with a solid 63 at Inverleigh! He has won himself a Leopard3, thanks to Innova Discs. June League saw another Bohan take out the win, that being Tim Bohan! A very nice 54 including an eagle on the par-4 6th! Scoring him a Nexus Firefly. Special mention to Cam Ford for hitting the ace on hole 7, taking home a huge $350 ace pot! July's League today went to Carey Edwards! Congrats Carey, shooting a 68 in some tricky conditions! Thanks to everyone who has attended the last couple of months. It's been great to see so many new faces! See you next month at the newly updated Barwon Valley Disc Golf Course!

25.01.2022 The Inverleigh Open is over for another year. This year it was a part of Aussie Disc Golf Day. 33 players competed on the day, with the highlight being an ace on hole 9 by Dylan Feldman. Dylan also took out the win in the MPO division by 4 shots over Tim Bohan who stepped up to MPO for the first time. Tied for 3rd place were Jarrath Sweetten and Patty Robinson, 2 shots behind Tim. Winner in FPO was Cassie Sweetten.... Everyone had a great day and were relieved to finally be back playing under tournament conditions. Pat Bohan and Dean Feeley won the CTP prizes on the day,thanks to Yikun Discs and Australian Working Dogs Rescue for providing those prizes. 23.01.2022 Our September League saw a great turnout of 24 players under short notice. New member James Hurren was the biggest improver on handicap and was able to take out the League win for the month! Congrats James. Rounding out the top 3 were Lee Thompson and Alex Young. 20.01.2022 2021 Chainlinks season kicked off this morning at Barwon Valley Disc Golf Course. We had 27 disc golfers out on the course this morning to battle it out for February Chainlinks title. But of course in true BV style what looked like to be a beautiful morning, no wind, no rain in sight soon turned with a flick of a switch after 3 holes. Consistent rain and wind was here to stay but that didn’t stop some impressive RAW scores coming in. Special mention to Latitude’s Pat Robins...on coming in with a bogey free round to shoot a 48 (-9under). But our winner for February Chainlinks goes to Peter Helyer. Coming in with a Raw score 57 and after handicap NET score of 44. Congratulations Peter Helyer who have scored yourself a disc from the Geelong Disc Golf pro shop. Please note: - new players need to play 4 league days for their handicap to be totalled - you must hold a membership to be eligible to win a Chainlinks league. 19.01.2022 Please join us at the Geelong Disc Golf WGE and support our women in the 2021 PDGA Women’s Global Event. On May 8th and 9th, women from all around the world will play two rounds of disc golf at their local participating PDGA Women's Global Event. Scores from the first two rounds of each participating tournament will be submitted by the individual tournament directors and rated by the PDGA. These round ratings will be totaled and averaged to determine the player's "Global Scor...e." For the rounds to qualify, the event must include two rounds and have at least three ratings propagators playing on the same course layout each round for ratings to be calculated as accurately as possible. Please note, the exact same course layout must be used for both rounds. The Global Scores will be updated throughout the day to determine our PDGA Women’s Global Event Champions and the winner in each division will receive a memorable trophy. *Please Note for Juniors 12 and Under: As in 2018, Juniors 12 and under will have only one round (May 8th or 9th, 2021) included into the overall PDGA Women’s Global Event. 18.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who played our April Chainlinks at Barwon Valley today. We were all blessed with a gorgeous day for Disc Golf! There were many hot rounds out there today with raw scores of 7 under, 5 under and 4 under to Patrick Robinson, Tim Bohan and Cassie Sweetten, respectively. For the Net score Chainlinks winner today Benjamin Hines' PB of an even-par round took the chocolates, finishing his round with two clutch birdies (NET score of 45.32). Only narrowly better ...than Cassie's NET score of 46.25. With around 8 players today shooting better than their handicap, the standard is lifting at Geelong Disc Golf! No aces were thrown today, so the Ace pool grows to a tantalising $237. The CTP today was held on hole 18. Ryan Michelle's card was the first to have a go at it, and he put it to within 5 metres. That was the nearest until Patrick Robinson, on the last card, parked his disc under the basket and stole the honours. Well done (new dad), Patty! 17.01.2022 Our November Chainlinks returned to Inverleigh on Saturday with 32 players showing out to take on the Gold layout. Some nice conditions helped produce some great scores on the tough par 64 layout. Topping the list for best scores of the day were a couple of -3 unders from Patty and Jarrath, great shooting guys! Our winner this month after handicapping was Dylan Feldman shooting a raw 62 (-2) to take out the win, congrats!... Our best new player of the month was Alex Young who shot a raw 76 (+12), well played Alex! For full results see the table below. Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed tackling the Gold layout. On the 21st of November players will get to have another crack at the course in the Inverleigh Open, coinciding with the Aussie Disc Golf Day. Be sure to jump onto our event page for more details.

15.01.2022 Our August League Day at Barwon Valley this past weekend saw a great turnout, with 30 players enjoying the sunshine for a throw! We've noticed an increasing number of new players taking up the sport in the past couple of months, and it was great to have 12 new players show up for their first league day ever! This month's Chainlink's winner was Ryan Michell, who shot +2 on the new BV layout! Patty Robinson came in with the hot round of the day shooting an impressive -9 par.... Thanks to all who attended and we hope we can see you all again in a couple of month's time.

Competitors will be challenged by the championship 18 basket layout on this one day event as part of Aussie Disc Golf Day.... More details are coming soon. 13.01.2022 Thanks to those who came out this morning for March Chainlinks! A solid showing of 27 players today (with many Ballarat Crew making the journey down the Midland Hwy!) The ace pool at Barwon Valley didn't go off today and now sits at $211! Bounty hunters will have to return in April to have another crack at it! Today's CTP on hole 11 was won by Pete Allen, and he took home a new disc from the Geelong Pro Shop.... The best raw score today was a cool 9 under par by Dylan Feldman. (see his putt on hole 12 on the Geelong Disc Golf page!) Our Handicap winner today was Ryan Hart (Pictured lining up a forehand on hole 15) with a new PB for him: 58 raw and 42.72 NET! (Check out where Ryan's putt finished on hole 14 to complete the hole!) Well done to Ryan, who will take home a custom mini. Now that two Chainlinks Leagues have been played, please look forward to a future post showing Geelong Members' current standings as they try to post their best 5 handicapped scores in 2021! May your Eagles and Birdies stay in those chains! (or rest on the nubs as may be the case)

Carol has spent the last few years behind the lens of a camera snapping amazing photos at events rather than playing due to injury. Carol is one of the most supportive and nurturing women in the Australian Disc Golf Community. Supporting and developing the growth of junior players within our communities by running come try days for juniors. We value your dedication to the sport and look forward to seeing you on the May 8th.

08.01.2022 ***MEMBERSHIP FEE UPDATE*** As we approach the end of the year, Inverleigh Disc Golf membership has been reduced pro rata. You can now sign up as an Affiliate (joint) Inverleigh/ Geelong member for only $70 (adult) or $40 (junior). This means you can play all the disc golf you want at Inverleigh - a good thing if you want to get in some practice for the Inverleigh Open next month! Your Inverleigh membership will also last until March 2021!... The affiliate fee will also include a discount in the new Geelong Disc Golf Summer League (more details coming soon!!). 05.01.2022 The South West Classic Teams Event was is exactly that today... a CLASSIC!!!! As always it was a close finish, with only 3 throws separating the top 3 teams. A total of 27 players made up the 7 teams competing to have their name inscribed on the coveted trophy. The close scores can be attributed to our expert TD Hank Terpstra whose thorough research and random draw system created teams which were spot on! The predicted storms and rain didn't materialise thankfully, as playe...rs enjoyed a rare windless event at the Inverleigh Disc Golf Course. On the day it was the team of Ryan, Cassie, Chris and Ryan Hart who took the win with a score of -15. The win wasn't without drama either as it was Ryan Budge's 30m throw in on the final hole secured the win. A big shout out also to youngster Ryan Hart drove and putted like a pro and who held his own against a field of players twice his age! (check out his driving form in the photos - look for the purple hoodie). Congrats to all who participated and a huge thanks to Hank for running his event again this year - an event which has cemented itself as a favourite among the local disc golf community! 04.01.2022 Thank you so much to all those who participated in Geelong Disc Golf's first-ever Summer Series! You braved some of the strangest Summer weather Geelong has seen! Now that the final week has wrapped up we can finally find out who came out on top. For the final week, the hot round on handicap was Cassie with a 45.75! Well done Cassie! For the overall winner, the last three weeks saw a change in the leader, tonight the "lead" card was made up of our current podium holders in Tr...oy, Chris and Ryan. The final week did not disappoint - Chris managed to shoot very well and add a 50.45 NET to his best four scores, edging out the competition and taking out 1st place. Congratulations Chris! In turn, this means that Troy finished 2nd and Ryan finished 3rd overall. Our top three finishers will receive the following in prizes: 1st Christ Hart = 3 discs from Geelong Pro Shop 2nd Troy Farrimond = 2 discs from Geelong Pro Shop 3rd Ryan Hart = 1 disc from Geelong Pro Shop There have been many highlights from Summer Series (despite the abysmal weather!), not least of which the mateship between each of Geelong Disc Golf players!
