13.01.2022 NEW KICKS I know I may be sliiiiiiightly sneaker crazy but on a serious note, having the correct footwear for the activity that you are participating in is really important. I have a lot of clients wearing lifestyle sneakers which may look great but have minimal support for arches or correct ankle mobility and support. Sometimes going to a footwear specialist and having your gait tested for the correct fit for your feet-and spending that little bit extra-will save you a... lot of pain and possibly injury in the future. And remember that just because one person finds a type or brand of shoe great doesnt mean that you will-all feet are different sizes, lengths and have different arches and require different support. 10.01.2022 SIGNS OF FATIGUE: Putting up two Rogue Fitness gymnastics rings up FOUR times and them being backwards each time before giving up But seriously, do you know your bodys signs that youre fatigued and need to take a break from training? Including but not limited to:- Lethargy in the muscles before starting; Mental foginess-like misplacing items, not remembering simple things you know by heart, not being able to focus on instruction or directions (me today! ); ... Unexplained dizziness or loss of balance (ai tend to trip over my own feet!!); Loss of appetite; Recurring our frequent bouts of injury; Prolonged muscle soreness or DOMs post-workout; Feeling generally unwell or nauseous; Heightened emotions, mood swings, feeling low or emotional over things that wouldnt normally bother you; Feeling like you cant get enough rest or sleep; Your training is regressing or stalling all together These can all be symptoms of your body telling you that it needs to slow down and take a break. You may find that continuing to train at your usual pace (or trying to) May be more detrimental than beneficial and the best thing you can do for yourself is rest and take a break to recharge the batteries . Im my own worst enemy when it comes to this-like most of us are, but I do always try to scale back my training -either in volume or intensity-when I feel like this, as from past experience, I tend to overtrain to the point of injury from overuse and fatigue. Try to listen to your body as much as you can and instead of punishing yourself by having a rest- realise that it is actually more beneficial sometimes than training yourself into the ground. You can train seven... days a week but if youre fuelling youre body with bad food, then your results (or lack there of) will speak for themselves.
