15.01.2022 The Surf Coast Shire is a separate Bioblitz region from Geelong , with several GFNC members involved. Unsurprisingly the list of species there is notable for the orchids and other wildflowers of that area. https://inaturalist.ala.org.au//great-southern-bioblitz-20 Today is the last day to make observations, but we can all still enter them into iNaturalist until the end of the week: to get through that photo backlog!

11.01.2022 Curlew Sandpipers, Banded Stilts, and the diminutive Red-necked Stint are just a few of the Ramsar listed birds that Craig Morley (a long standing GFNC member) has been observing in the Lake Connewarre area for over 40 years. Craig is a champion of citizen science and understands the role it can play in protecting and enhancing Ramsar habitats for migrating shorebirds. If you'd like to be involved as well contact us! https://youtu.be/nYV2BuGs2mo
