23.01.2022 Hello, GJCA Community. Please note we are in urgent need for someone to fill our social media role for 2020-21. As someone who is a Facebook user, and if you are someone with the capacity to post and monitor messages via Facebook, you may be the person to help us with our needs. The role entails posting information, as required, on Friday afternoons, and/or Saturday and Sunday mornings. If you're someone who'd like to assist us in this area please reply directly to this messa...ge with your name and contact details, or send an email to [email protected] where any questions you might have can be answered. This is an important role for Geelong Junior Cricket Association, and it's vital we appoint someone prior to Round 1. We hope to hear from you soon, or also from anyone else you think would be suited to the task. Kind regards, The Geelong Junior Cricket Association Committee

17.01.2022 Hi All, As you may have heard, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has added the MCG as a possible corona virus acquisition site specifically being day 2 (Dec 27) of the recent Boxing Day Test and encompassing Zone 5 in the Great Southern Stand. If any junior cricketer currently playing Barwon Junior Country Week or playing in the Junior Representative Program attended the MCG on day 2 and were in Zone 5:... they must immediately cease playing Country Week or the Rep Program; and please get tested and self-quarantine until you receive a negative result. A Melbourne Cricket Club spokesperson has publicly advised that patrons were in Zone 5 of the MCG if they entered the Great Southern Stand through gates 5 or 6, and Zone 5 comprised the following sections (and these would have been listed on the match day ticket for day two): M16 to M27, N16 to N28, P15 to P28, Q15 to Q28 and corporate suites 27-54 Jolimont Club. Details of the DHHS advice regarding the MCG are set out below (and please visit the DHHS corona virus website Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus (COVID-19) (dhhs.vic.gov.au) if you require further information). DHHS Advice: MCG Possible acquisition site If you attended the MCG on Dec 27, seated in The Great Southern Stand, Zone 5, between 12.30pm - 3.30pm, you must get tested & self-quarantine until you get a negative result. Details for the seating in Zone 5 are available at the MCG website. The MCG is being investigated as a potential source for acquisition. This means we have a confirmed case of coronavirus who was not infectious but that we believe may have acquired their infection at this location. If you were at these locations during these times, please get tested and self-quarantine until you receive a negative result. This will help us track the source of the virus and stop its spread. P.S Any junior player that did attend the MCG on Day 2 in Zone 5 between 12.30pm - 3.30pm to also immediately inform their Country Week team coordinator & the tournament organisers. This will help to inform any additional steps that may need to be taken in relation to the Barwon Junior Country Week tournament. Regards, Werner Weigl Chairperson GJCA

14.01.2022 U17 Test Matches Day 2, tomorrow, is the final day the U17 Test matches. We're curious as to how these matches will play out. Shrewd captaincy is required from all teams. *U17 Perry - Cats v. Rockets... The Cats took a conservative approach (2/46) in response to the Rockets' 4/165 (declared). Will the Cats go hard from that start, tomorrow? When will they declare? How far will the Rockets stretch their 2nd innings lead before having one final crack at the Cats? Can the Rockets get 18 wickets in a day? Game on. *U17 Villani - Renegades v. Stars The Stars have already started their 2nd innings and have set up a 122-run lead overall. They'll fancy their chances after rolling the Renegades for 113. So, how big a lead will the Stars need to tease the Renegades into the chase? Will they bat for too long? Will they waste too many overs before declaring? Have they considered that the Renegades could just kill the game off, to deny the Stars, and take a draw? Boy-oh-boy. Wow-ee! We've got a contest here.

08.01.2022 Hello GJCA & GRGL community. Please note that as some matches throughout the season are being re-opened for clubs to enter missing player data on MyCricket, the ladders will not display correctly whilst they are open. There may be periods over the next week or two where a team's result may not count correctly on the ladder. Consequently, the ladders will be incorrect. The period of time in which matches will be re-opened, will be minimal. When all clubs have updated their m...issing player data (batting scores and bowling figures), the matches will be made official again, and the ladders will automatically update. Apologies for the slight confusion that will become apparent to some. Regards, GJCA Committee

03.01.2022 Hello, BJCW Community. Well, we've come to the final day of BJCW cricket for 2021. Good luck to everyone today. It's been a tough week, but let's finish it on a positive note. We hope the newly-acquired friendships of BJCW teammates from other clubs will have a lasting effect. We would like to offer our appreciation to the team managers who've given up their time to be a part of the week and likewise are thankful to the parents who are supporting our players on their journey ...in cricket. Thank you. Two matches out of a possible four, is better than none at all. Thankfully we were able to get something out of the week. Let's play cricket!!! 01.01.2022 Hello, GJCA Community.
