25.01.2022 Hundreds of thousands of women and girls have rallied to say not enough is being done to keep them safe. This moment calls for leadership and meaningful action. And that's why consent education will be mandatory in schools from next term.

23.01.2022 With the number of cases trending down in Victoria, Dan Andrews is right: "We can do this." Victoria, Australia is with you

23.01.2022 You might have missed this but it's big news so I wanted to share it here. Cities right around the world like New York and London have moved dining outdoors du...ring this pandemic. It's meant being able to catch up with loved ones over a meal in an environment that's less likely to spread the virus. Now the weather is warming up, we're bringing that experience to Geelong. We're giving a $500,000 grant to the local council for them to help make it a possibility. We're also giving grants to help restaurants, pubs and cafes with practical things to make this work. That could include umbrellas, outdoor furniture, screens and other equipment. Businesses will be able serve more customers this way than they otherwise could. And customers will get a unique experience. I know I'll be one of the first to try it out when it happens.

23.01.2022 Geelong will be taking further steps to ease COVID-19 restrictions from 11:59pm tonight.

22.01.2022 Talk about corruption and waste of taxpayers money - A Liberal Party donor is the beneficiary of a $26.7 million overspend on a piece of land valued at only $3m purchased by Scott Morrison’s Government.

22.01.2022 Last bushfire season Prime Minister Scott Morrison refused to listen to the experts and failed to prepare for the crisis. Almost a year on, the devastation is s...till fresh for many Australians and victims are still trying to get back on their feet. The government still hasnt done enough to prepare us for future bushfires or ensure those effected last year have fully recovered.

21.01.2022 Congratulations Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on your historic victory one based on decency, honesty and progressive leadership.

20.01.2022 This is too good not to post - So proud of Victoria.

20.01.2022 Lisa absolutely nails this - Scott Morrison has got to start answering questions.

19.01.2022 FRIDAY AFTERNOON POLL: Why would you want to replace the iconic Australian made kangaroo logo with this horrid thing? What do you think - Was Scott Morrison right to spend $10 million on this? I say no way.

16.01.2022 An increase of $25 a week falls well short of what people need to live on with dignity. Any raise of the JobSeeker rate is welcome but Scott Morrison must reco...nsider - why does the amount fall below what many groups have been calling for, for some time now? What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

16.01.2022 Ever seen a kangaroo skip on water? Check out this outback mirage. This was taken by Christian at the Murray-Sunset National Park in Victoria. Stunning!

16.01.2022 This is why Victorians deserve the thanks of every single Australian. Because the sacrifices you made were huge, but you made them for all of us. To keep the r...est of us safe. Thank you.

15.01.2022 We need to be building affordable housing. It would provide work for thousands of tradies and put a roof over the head of Australians who desperately need it.

14.01.2022 Scott Morrison needs to commit to a permanent increase to the JobSeeker rate - $40 a day is not enough. There was no certainty given in the Budget. Instead, th...is Government is playing the waiting game. It will send many Corangamite families into the Christmas period without any certainty as to their financial future. It's inexcusable.

14.01.2022 Scott Morrison is up to his neck in sports rorts.

14.01.2022 I know all of us wish we could flick a switch and return to normal, but that just isn't possible. We're working with unions, businesses and community groups to... develop a long-term, sustainable plan. This Sunday, we'll outline what that plan to reopen looks like so we can give all Victorians certainty.

13.01.2022 Labor has criticised a government decision allowing potentially hundreds of privileged foreign citizens paying for business investment visas to enter Australia, arguing they are taking hotel quarantine places away from 28,000 Australians stranded overseas.

13.01.2022 You might have heard about plans to extend the State of Emergency, so I wanted to explain what that means here. Some of the key protections against COVID-19 are... only available when a State of Emergency has been declared. That includes vital measures like mandatory face coverings and requiring people with positive cases to self-isolate. Currently, a State of Emergency can only be declared for maximum of six months consecutively. We're introducing legislation to make sure these important measures can continue being enforced after that period. The legislation will extend the limit to the State of Emergency by an extra 12 months. I want to be clear that this doesn't mean we are proposing an extra year of restrictions. It simply means we will have the ability to respond to this pandemic based on the health situation at the time. It also doesn't have any impact on Parliament's ability to hold the Government to account. Ministers, the Chief Health Officer and other senior officials can still be scrutinised during hearings. Until we have a vaccine, we can't limit ourselves from being able to take action against COVID-19. That's exactly what this change is about and that's exactly why I support it.

11.01.2022 With your help, I've put together this list of local small businesses still operating during Stage 3 restrictions. Comment below if there are any more businesses I should add. Together, we can help get our small businesses through this difficult time by shopping locally.

11.01.2022 Good luck to our Democratic Party friends across the pond!

11.01.2022 Trixie really knows how to strike a pose for the camera. Happy #DogsInPoliticsDay to my campaign companion.

11.01.2022 This budget was a time to come up with vision for Australia's future. The Government spent $100 billion on a night. It's racked up 1 trillion dollars’ worth o...f debt and there is very little to show for that - We must ensure that we are getting value for our money and that means we need a real plan and investment to create jobs right here for Australians. See more

10.01.2022 Australia is in a deep and painful recession. The Morrison Recession. Nearly a million Australians are unemployed. And 400,000 more will join them by Christmas.... We need a real plan for the recovery one that creates jobs now, and sets Australia up for the future. An Australia that makes things, that looks after our most vulnerable, and that backs our greatest resource our people. That's Labor's vision for this country.

09.01.2022 Seven days in a row with double 0s Victoria. Amazing work. 007

09.01.2022 $30 million for land values at $3 million - You’d either have to be insane or a Liberal to think that’s good value. The money wasted by Morrison’s government on just this land could have paid the annual average wage of 375 new Australian nurses.

08.01.2022 This is what Scott Morrison’s Minister for Social Services said about raising the rate of Newstart before Covid-19. Now she is saying she can’t guarantee Jobseeker won’t go back to the old Newstart rate.

07.01.2022 Today Scott Morrison’s government teamed up with One Nation - shamefully voting down a motion to fly the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags alongside t...he Australian Flag in the Australian Senate. Ignoring the 65,000 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and made all the more disgraceful by the fact it’s NAIDOC week. Across the country they fly side by side - but in our National senate chamber, Morrison says no.

06.01.2022 Scott Morrison's chaos on energy policy is one of the biggest job killers around.

06.01.2022 Over 200 people in Geelong who have lost work due to COVID-19 will be employed through Working for Victoria. They'll be out in the community performing vital ro...les like sanitising our streets to make them as safe as possible. We know that restrictions have been necessary to slow the spread of this deadly virus. Unfortunately businesses have closed and jobs have been lost as a result. But we won't leave workers out on their own we'll support them every step of the way.

04.01.2022 The Australia Post Board is a dysfunctional swamp of former Liberal politicians, party hacks, and mates of Scott Morrison. Its obvious that the CEO needed to stand down. Now can we get some action on this governments corrupt airport land deals?

04.01.2022 Bushfire resilience, bushfire mitigation and bushfire recovery are key items that need to be done in our communities across Australia to make them safe for the ...future. It is really important that we start to work together and we understand the trauma that so many communities have gone through. It is very important that the government now listen to some of the recommendations put forward in the Royal Commissions interim report and not just talk, but act, our communities and Australian wildlife are counting on it.

03.01.2022 Fixing our mental health system won't be easy, but it'll start right here in Geelong, right now. Too often, locals have had to travel long distances to access t...he mental health support they need. That's why one of the first recommendations from the Mental Health Royal Commission was to deliver more local services. They'll be places where people can walk in and get the mental health and wellbeing support they need in one place near them. And they'll provide early intervention to make sure support is given before crisis points are reached. One of the first centres will be established right here in our city.

03.01.2022 Pensioners deserve better than Morrison’s pension freeze. Tell him to unfreeze the pension at https://www.alp.org.au/endthepensionfreeze

03.01.2022 It's safe to say we've done a lot for the furry members of our family in the past few years. We’ve banned puppy farms once and for all in Victoria. We’ve made s...ure rental tenants can have pets at home. We’ve boosted funding for pet charities and shelters. We’ve increased animal cruelty charges. There's just too many achievements to list here but our commitment to protecting Victorian pets is clear. Happy Dogs in Politics Day.

02.01.2022 More than 700 jobs are at risk at the Geelong Viva Energy refinery if the Morrison Government does not act now. Federal Government must deliver a comprehensive... fuel security package to ensure the long term viability of Viva Energy. There are also thousands of indirect jobs at stake. The time for action is now.

02.01.2022 FRIDAY AFTERNOON POLL: Rather than helping, he's been blaming others. We need a Prime Minister who is a leader, sadly we've got a Prime Minister who is only interested in whining.
