12.01.2022 Quaffa at Rick and Jules place last night was awesome! Thanks to our amazing hosts for putting on a cracking night. The food was superb. Many good wines were sampled and some were even great. Faves were the French Chardy and the Spanish and French reds. We finished off with Rick Cole’s barrel aged Negroni, a delightful drop! 09.01.2022 The Quaffa’s gathered tonight for an ‘in-person’ event for the first time in a while, since this Covid shit started. It was great to be together and given that the restrictions are tightening up again tomorrow night, it’s great timing! Hosted by Carmel & Tim, who put on a fantastic dinner, we talked, laughed, ate and drank our way through the night. The winning wine was the Stark Raven Shiraz, followed by the Tassie bubbles. 06.01.2022 The Geelong Quaffa Society hit McLaren Vale this weekend, represented by Nikki & Rich, Tim & Carmel and Rick & Jules. We stayed in a nice house on a hill in McLaren Flat, just minutes from many of the amazing vineyards this cracking region has to offer. It’s been a real food and wine weekend, as we’ve visited a bunch of great vineyards inc Yangarra, Hugo, Gemtree, D’arenberg, Samuels Gorge, Pennys Hill, Paxton and a very special private tasting at the Cradle of Hills, where... we sat in the owner/winemakers lounge room and he ran us through his wines, matched with little food morsels. It was great to hear from the maker himself and learn about the challenges and rewards of this tough gig. Today we had lunch at The Star of Greece on the coast at Aldinga, which was delicious. We took a photo at every vineyard, usually at the sign out the front, as is Quaffa tradition. Here’s to a great weekend and already looking forward to the next Quaffa trip See more

05.01.2022 Quaffas, look what I found in Sydney...a cracking wine bar where they make their own vino from 7 owned vineyards. Working my way thru a wine flight, with a Shiraz, Cab Merlot and 2 x Cab Sav’s....could be worse !

02.01.2022 We gathered last night at Robbie’s, for a partial Quaffa night, attended by Sherry, Robert Brozina, Nikki and I. We also had special guests Matthew & Deb Ahearn. Robbie fired up the wood oven and crafted a range of amazing home made pizzas, which we washed down with an array of great wines. ‘Twas a very fun evening

01.01.2022 Last night’s ‘Covid / Iso’ Quaffa was a unique one, where for the first time we were all in separate homes ‘Quaffing’ via an e-chat! Kudos to Rick Cole and Jules for planning the night and choosing/providing (very generous of you both and much appreciated) the wine and the blind-tasting challenge. 3 great choices Awesome wines and good fun, with Richard Lyle & Belinda Lyle taking out the challenge! It was awesome how all of us came together to compile the food elements an...d it was all delicious. How good was it that we all got to see each other in real life too, as we handed over the collective booty 20+ years in and the Geelong Quaffa Society is still a haven for friendship, great times, amazing wines and shared experiences.
