23.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM | President of the Geelong Racing Club, Peter Murrihy , ! I am married to Victoria and we have three grown up daughters - Brydie, Keeley and Layla. I am a former Police Officer of 21 years. My longest serving role was as a Police Prosecutor in the Geelong Magistrates Courts. I then retired early to support my wife in her business/career and to help raise our girls. My passion is football having played and coached in years past at St... Mary's Sporting Club Geelong, Newtown & Chilwell Football Netball Club and Geelong Amateur FNC. I am a passionate Collingwood Football Club supporter as well as a keen fan of the Melbourne Vixens. Best time of the year for me is either the AFL Grand Final or the Melbourne racing week at Flemington starting with Derby Day and attending all four fantastic race days. 3 ? Top three highlights include first and foremost the people involved at the Racing Club. The depth of talent at our Club of both our staff and our Committee members is outstanding. It is a pleasure to work with a team of professionals. Secondly, the magic of our #GeelongCup race day is amazing and it gets better and better every year. It's an absolute thrill to be involved. Thirdly, to be a part of the Racing Industry is both challenging and exciting. ? I have to thank my father for introducing me to our local TAB in Port Fairy. He loved the races and he passed it down to me at a very early age. We spent many an afternoon together listening to the races on the radio. I always knew one day I would love to be involved in racing at some level. ? ? The major change during my time is the loss of the synthetic track and the widening of the grass track. Whilst initially disappointed with the loss of the synthetic we are now thrilled about the advantages of the change to the grass track. Our aim is to become the best regional race track in Victoria. #GRC
