24.01.2022 Thanks for the interest in this page new visitors. If you are looking for coworking space, feel free to contact us.

23.01.2022 European Wasp Update: Sadly, late on Friday we had to have the nest exterminated. The numbers of buzzing visitors to our letterbox was starting to create a potential visitor safety hazard, so the decision was made and the experts brought in. (He wore a bee protection suit so you can see what we mean about it being time!)... Jeremy Hart (if you need him call the ACT Wasp Hotline - find if via Google) and he'll come and fix it pretty quickly for a very reasonable fee (under $100). Today (within 24 hours) there is one wasp left looking a bit lonely outside the nest and we've also (as added insurance so they don't just start up again) put out the trap we bought down the side laneway (away from public traffic) to get any lost ones so they don't recur. We did learn that we were on the right track with our natural concoction, however, one of the (natural) ingredients apparently makes them do a very active jig before expiring which would only have stirred up the nest. Everything else in our mix was fine but they are determined insects, and if we couldn't 'encourage' them to move on, they had to go. Sorry ...as we don't like taking life... but leaving them in situ was not an option, safety-wise. Tut ta wasps.

22.01.2022 A tidbit of information that might be of interest to small business posted by PSnews today: "Senator Xenophon said that last financial year the Commonwealth Government spent more than $56.9 billion on the goods and services required to deliver its policy objectives. More than 10,000 businesses were contracted to deliver these items, including 9,595 small to medium businesses."... Yes, folks, that is 95.9% (let's say 96%) of work supplied to federal government was by the SME sector. Hi 5 to us all! Read more at: http://www.psnews.com.au//committee-buys-into-ps-purchasin

21.01.2022 If you visit our webpage you'll seen information about a past contents auction...as soon as we can we'll relist the original website for booking space.

20.01.2022 We just did a tour of our training rooms for an upcoming public affairs presentation to an industry group. We await their decision on whether to book in or not. Nice feedback on the venue (as usual which we always appreciate). ... Now to find those names we said we would provide....done!

17.01.2022 Today we are hosting another Kinesiology course (Advanced this time) as well as an TAA course. It's great when some of the class have been here before and know the drill, where things are, and can help out the ones who have not been here before. A new arrival just noted (several times): "It's beautiful!" "You don't expect it to be here. It's hidden away."

15.01.2022 Thank you Mark for this link. Just in case you were lacking for reasons to use a coworking space! In fact in our little growing hub of natural health providers here at Geelong Street, the more you have the corridor chats and "just happen to mention" what you are doing, the more your coworking colleagues get to know you and your business better and they naturally start networking for you.... Our Health Coach has mentioned a few other people who might be interested in joining us to do some hypnotherapy. We've discovered lots of similar interests and while we are a newbie at this, wise old (well, younger actually) ones nod in agreement when we share something "new" we've learned. (Darn, they are ahead of us!) Where this sudden interest in all things natural (using herbs as medicine, growing aloe vera and making juice out of it - and having our first paying customer turn up, eating food that is home grown etc) we don't know...but people with similar interests are turning up to be part of it and share our wonderful healing space. All coworking spaces are different - they gather around different interests, but there is a synergy in finding your "mob" where you belong as your interests are similar and people "get" you. If you haven't found a space that suits you yet, keep looking. http://women2.com//want-productive-grow-network-5-reason/

14.01.2022 Sounds like a coworking environment to us: http://www.psnews.com.au///asic-invests-in-new-way-to-work

11.01.2022 Natural cures... In keeping with the focus on natural health, we thought we'd tell you about an experiment we did to rid the front of our building of a massive underground ant nest with massive (over 1 inch or 2.5 cms) ants! We'd left it to see if they would move on at some stage, but obviously they liked it so much they decided to expand. When the building guys next door noted it was out of control we thought we'd better do something about it.... So off to Bunnings for some ant kill as suggested. We looked at all the poisons. We kept looking. "Don't use near fish." "Don't use near open waterways." "Highly poisonous." We actually didn't want to kill them, just move them on to a more appropriate home. One of the bottles was "EcoAnt" or some catchy title. Looking up the ingredients we say eucalytpus oil, pyrethrum and some noxious chemical. Well, we had two out of three items in the cupboard at work. Hmmm we wondered if a mix of two would do the trick (sans ugly third chemical compound). So we came back without buying anything. Shasta daisies which were at the end of their bloom we chopped up and boiling water poured over them to steep and cool. Some eucalyptus oil (about 10mls) and pyrethrum from daisies (about 1 litre) were mixed up and poured into the nest. The result was quick...rapid exit by flying versions of the massive ants and lots of angry ants exiting the nest. We left them until the afternoon and did another dose. More ants came out. A few days later, we kicked a bit of dirt into the nest to see if they were still there. Two ants came out and looked around. One day later, we put another dose....but no ants! Ants still gone about a week later. Success...from nature! *** Now for the wasps that have made our (unused, miniscule letter box) their home.... The test apothecary lab is open again. We will let you know how it goes....

10.01.2022 Today's Visitor Feedback so far: "You've got a nice little place here, haven't you?" "It's a beautiful building. Really nice. Unusual for Canberra."... :)

08.01.2022 A few weekends ago we re-oiled our eye-catching front doors (they are out of an old nunnery in Goulburn apparently) and they came up a treat. That of course let to us casting an eye on other wooden areas to oil (did we mention most of the building is wood inside which gives it it's lovely warm welcoming feel) ...and so we tackled:... * the skirting boards downstairs (the ones we could reach as some are behind furniture and bookcases that are too heavy to move easily) got a coating which they soaked up. *the internal doors and architraves. *skirting boards in the rooms (Manager's Office, small Training Room) and the main break-out area *the window frames ...basically anything made of wood. There's still a fair bit to go, but it makes a lovely different especially as some of the skirting boards had never been finished ...and this darkens and gives a depth to the wood that only before and after photos can do justice too. We love anything that improves our lovely building. :)

04.01.2022 OK - We now have a European wasp camp in our (miniscule and unused for that reason) mailbox. Obviously they thought it would make a great home, so we are trying some home remedies on them to see if we can get them to move on to another address. Yes, yes we realise that this is the BEST address, but we do have move-on rights and we think our wasp 'guests' would be better off in a more natural setting...not a mailbox.... Watch this space. Yesterday I sprayed them in the morning with eucalytpus oil in a detergent mix in a spray bottle (the internet said detergent although we are not fussed on using it - but they are the numbers-getting-too-large stage - so moving them on is better than having them stay there. In the afternoon, the spray bottle was deployed from the car (driven close and with the window down just a little bit) to enable a quick escape from any winged pursuers! Anyone know of any natural remedies for European wasps? We're happy to hear them.

03.01.2022 So who is being attracted to our space? Well, it's not who we originally thought or aimed at - public affairs officers (PAOs) who might be looking for a new career after 22% of PAO positions were going to be lost from the APS over the next four years (see https://www.publicaffairsjobs.com.au//public-affairs-offi/). So, who is coming here?... Those with an interest in natural health. Yes. Surprised? So are/were we. Our first person who hired our Manager's Office is a health coach who has a wealth of knowledge and understanding on how to get your life back on track....and this was confirmed for us recently as one of our PAO candidates mentioned that they had done a course with Charlie and lost a massive amount of weight over the past 6 months. (We knew she was good but it is always good to hear unsolicited 3rd party endorsement). Our second person runs a MindDog Program helping people via their pets. Om Shanti College of Natural Therapies is an RTO that operates out of Griffith but was booked out on the week-end so used our offices as overflow for Kinesiology classes and to teach TAA to new trainers. One of the Presenters expressed interest in using our space again. We also have others (a photographer showing clients their work) using the space and are talking to a few of our PAO candidates who want to start their own business. As we've been in small business for 15 years this year, we might be able to provide a few tips to the newbies on what to expect.
