25.01.2022 A massive congrats to all the member of GWBB on a fantastic win yesterday at the Victorian State Band Championships held in Ballarat. A big thanks to all the members for their dedication leading up to the contest (especially so short after our Annual Cabaret) as well as our helpers for filling the few holes in our band. We are always greatful for your help and we hope you enjoyed playing with the band A big congrats must also go to Boroondara Brass and Box Hill City Band on... their brilliant performances on the weekend. We were lucky being drawn first that we were able to listen to the other two B Grade bands - and you both played tremendously! We love that there is always such great competition in B Grade in Victoria. A huge thanks to the VBL and the RSSS for continuously putting on a great contest every year. We always enjoy performing at our own States competition - even if Ballarat is not the sunniest of places! Another big thanks to Tim Kelly and the team at Brassbanned for their quality work and streaming over the weekend! Such a brilliant asset to the banding movement to allow people near and far to watch some quality playing over the weekend! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for our upcoming events. GWBB are excited to be preparing a repertoire for the Blue Lakes Brass Festival being held in Mount Gambier in November!

19.01.2022 Some photos from a great weekend of music at Blue Lakes Brass Festival in Mount Gambier.

18.01.2022 A huge congrats to our award winners at the Geelong West Christmas Party. Congrats to - Callum Edwards - Most Improved Player - Caitlin Taylor - Musician of the Year - Danny OToole and Elizabeth OToole - Most Exemplary Bandspersons - Nicole Perinaise - Attendance Award... A special thanks to Helen Giokas-Smith for presenting a framed photo taken by the late Michael Smith to the band. The photo was taken at the 2017 National Band Championships where the band performed Smithys favorite piece - Paganini Variations. He wasnt just a talented musician - but a very talented photographer capturing everything he loved in one picture. We will take such pride in finding a prime spot in our band room for this beauty. Even though he has left our band room - he will remain in our hearts and in our music.

17.01.2022 Congrats Gwbb on first place at the Victorian State Band Championships!

16.01.2022 Just a reminder of our next open rehearsal on Tuesday 30 October at 7:15PM. Please tag, message or forward to anyone you think may be interested in joining the band, or just coming along to listen! We are particularly looking to recruit percussion and lower brass players, but all are welcome. If you know a good kit percussion player looking for opportunities to play, please alert them to this.

16.01.2022 Please share this post with all your friends, and comment/tag anyone you think may be interested. We are particularly looking for percussion (kit, tuned and auxiliary), and tuba/eupho players, but all are welcome. Next formal open rehearsal is on 30 October starting at 7:15, but new players are welcome at any Tuesday evening rehearsal.... We are NOT your usual brass band! (I am aware that the picture the magazine has used is a trumpet. If you do play trumpet, its fairly easy to switch to cornet!). We have high quality instruments available for loan to members. http://fortemag.com.au/?p=41645

07.01.2022 Thats a wrap from the 2019 Brass Band National Championships! What a great weekend had by all. After a not so good start (due to our friends at Jetstar) - we were stoked to hear that Harrison Steele-Holmes won the Junior Tenor Trombone section - and subsequentially went onto win the Junior Champion of Champions He also competed in the Open Tenor Trombone section, and was awarded a 3rd place! Well done Harrison! We completed the marching on Saturday under the guidance of ...our fearless DM Bruno Andrade. Our turn may not have gone down to plan exactly - but we definitely had a great time swaggering down the street to Stevie Wonders Superstition. Well done Bruno and the marching crew on a job well done and a new PB for Bruno After an extremely suspenseful results announcement - GWBB was awarded 2nd overall for the B Grade section - out of a field of 16 competitors. We are absolutely stoked with that result, falling just shy of Waratah by 2 points. A highlight for the band (mainly Jeff) was the bands hymn (Prelude on a hymn tune Lavenham) - which scored us a 2nd place. We also scored 2 3rd places in the test and march. Well done to all the players for their efforts over the weekend. All your hard work, patience, and dedication has paid off with a fantastic result. A huge thanks to the players families and friends for their support during our Nationals campaign. Thanks to our helpers (you know who you are) for complementing our band and helping get us to the competition. Some of you played in more than one band on the weekend / and we cant thank you enough for helping us out too! Big shoutout to Tim and the team at Brassbanned for providing a quality stream of brass bands over the weekend! Big thanks to the NBCA and QBA for organizing the event. Well done to all the bands involved across the weekend, in particular our good friends at City of Greater Dandenong Band (Melbourne) #nongband, Creswick Brass BAND Wonthaggi Citizens Band (who took out the Open C Grade with our very own Jeff Steele on Soprano) A massive thanks also to Jeff Steele (our MD) for constantly pushing us to play better, and extracting the full potential out of the band. We had a great weekend / and now looking forward to the next project after a few weeks off!

06.01.2022 If anyone wants to get behind this wonderful project - we participated in it last year and it was absolutely amazing! Good luck guys!
