25.01.2022 A terrifying statistic that close to half of all Victorians living at high-risk of bushfire would choose to wait and see rather than leave early on high ris...k days.* We urge all Victorians during summer to leave early before a grassfire or bushfire starts. You could be risking the lives of your loved ones and firefighters.

19.01.2022 A big congratulations to our Ex Captain Brendan on winning the Geelong Advertiser Christmas lights display this year. Each year Brendan puts together a wonderful display for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations once again.

16.01.2022 SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in Central, South West and parts of Northern Country, North Central, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera F...orecast Districts. Issued at 4:41 pm Sunday, 20 December 2020. HEAVY RAINFALL AND THUNDERSTORMS MONDAY NIGHT Stay Informed: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/ Weather Situation: A trough will deepen over western Victoria Monday afternoon, before moving eastward over the State Monday night and Tuesday morning. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING may develop over parts of western victoria from early MONDAY EVENING, extending to central parts late MONDAY EVENING into TUESDAY MORNING. Rain is then expected to continue to extend eastward, before easing from the west during Tuesday morning. Widespread rainfall totals from Monday evening through to Tuesday morning of around 20-40mm are expected with localised falls of 60-80mm possible. Thunderstorms are possible overnight further enhancing rainfall totals and rainfall rates. Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne and Bacchus Marsh. The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads. * Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet. * Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Stay indoors and away from windows. * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways. * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible. * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees. * Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live. * Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Sunday.

15.01.2022 If you were out hiking, camping or bike riding over the festive season and you had to call triple zero in an emergency, would you know how to tell the operator ...exactly where you are? To help pinpoint your location in an emergency, be prepared by: - Looking out for emergency markers, which can be found across many open space locations, such as parks and trails. Each marker has a unique three-letter and three number code that pinpoints your location. - Downloading the free Emergency Plus app, which has what3words built-in so you can #HelpTripleZeroFindYou by providing the operator with just three words.

14.01.2022 What will happen this Sunday 4 April? A) Chocolate. And more chocolate. B) Visiting loved ones. C) Sleeping for an extra hour.... D) Checking my smoke alarms. E) All of the above. It may be Easter this Sunday 4 April, but it’s also the end of daylight savings. And that means it’s time to check your smoke alarms! So before you hit the road or hit up the chocolate, remember to replace your 9-volt batteries and dust and vacuum your smoke alarms. Fire Rescue Victoria

12.01.2022 The Fire Danger Period (FDP) will finish at 1.00am on Tuesday, 6 April 2021 in the following municipalities in CFA’s District 7: City of Greater Geelong B...orough of Queenscliff Surf Coast Shire Golden Plains Shire (District 7 area) According to the latest Australian Seasonal Outlook, above average summer rainfall has led to a reduced bushfire risk for autumn. These conditions have led to a reduced fire activity in both grasslands and forests this summer. Much of Victoria will continue to experience milder conditions and lower bushfire potential over the coming months. CFA District 7 Assistant Chief Fire Officer Brendan Lawson said despite the recent rainfall the grassland fire danger will elevate on hot, windy days. We encourage people to exercise extreme caution once restrictions are lifted, he said. All burning off must be conducted in compliance with municipal local laws. ACFO Lawson emphasised that while the FDP is coming to an end in some areas, it is still important to remain vigilant. We’re urging everyone to stay safe, whether you’re living in or travelling to high bushfire risk areas, he said. Please monitor the conditions on hot, dry and windy days, as we may still see some days of elevated fire risk. While the Fire Danger Period will come to an end, it is still important that residents check the local conditions are safe for any burn-off they were considering undertaking. You must register your burn-offs, check weather conditions and follow local council laws and regulations, ACFO Lawson said. Registering your burn-off ensures that if somebody reports smoke, the incident will be cross-checked with the burn-off register, which will then prevent CFA crews wasting resources and showing up at your door. Landowners can now register their burn-off online at www.firepermits.vic.gov.au. Alternatively, you can register with the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) by calling 1800 668 511 or emailing [email protected] When conducting burn-offs, remain alert and always have resources on hand to extinguish the fire.

10.01.2022 Today’s to-do list: Eat lots of chocolate Change your clock Check your smoke alarm... A working smoke alarm is the quickest way to alert your family in the event of a fire. Remember, only working smoke alarms save lives. Happy Easter!
