23.01.2022 Very excited to be taking our products to Torquay Farmers Market tomorrow from 9am to 1pm. If you are in the look out for composting worms, worm castings, worm juice or worm farms make sure you check us out. We will be hanging out with the Geelong Fungis...oh wait we are the Geelong Fungis as well.

21.01.2022 We have set up an interactive Organic Waste Management Station as part of our kitchen-garden program. We have closed the loop and are now able to process 100% of our organic waste on site and turn it into food in our garden through composting, chickens and worm farming. Imagine how much money we could be saving in land fill fees and in environmental costs if homes, businesses and schools around Australia did something similar.

17.01.2022 Our business model is designed following Permaculture ethics and principals. We operate as a closed loop system which allows us to keep the energy flowing with ...in the system. We collect used coffee grounds from coffee shops and restaurants that will normally end up in land fill and turn that into mushrooms. The substrate in which the mushrooms are grown is made of a mixture of coffee grounds and straw. Once the mushrooms are harvested they leave behind SMS (spent mushroom substrate) and plastic bags. The plastic bags are reusable and the SMS is used as bedding for our worm farms made by #GeelongWorms or fed to the worms to be turned into worm castings or it can also be used as mulch for your garden. SMS is inoculated with the oyster mushroom mycelium. Fungi have many roles in nature, one of them being the break down of cellulose and lignum fibber in plants. It spreads through out the forest floor breaking this things down and forming a very large web connecting the roots of trees and plants which work similar to our internet allowing for the communication between plants. The following images show this process happening in my garden. Ive had the SMS bags sitting in my chook pen for about 4 weeks. The chook pen works as a deep litter system with high cellulose and lignum fiber content. When I lifted up the bags the mycelium had started to spread out side the bag and to break down the deep litter. Ive taken the SMS and used it to mulch my no dig garden where I grow my potatoes amongst other things. I added the prunings from my fruit trees, coffee grounds and added mineral rock dust. This garden bed has been revitalised and ready for spring and summer and if the conditions are right I might get some oyster mushrooms in autumn or winter once the moister levels are right. Isnt nature just amazing? Questions and comments welcome. See more

14.01.2022 If you want a quick quality fertilizer you cant go past worm juice from your own worm farm. Its easy enough to get fresh and gives your vegetables, tree seedl...ings, saplings and even your seeds a terrific nutrient boost in their vulnerable stages of growth. Just as with us, your plants will benefit from a rich nutritional foundation which sets them up for solid and healthy growth, imparting to you in turn, great flavor and most importantly, great health. For more info check out my compost worm farming video in The Permaculture Circle (TPC): https://www.discoverpermaculture.com//categories/182758/po

01.01.2022 Vermicompost - Life in the compost bin Two weeks in a typical vermicompost bin: two compost earthworm species (Eisenia fetida and Dendrobaena veneta) in a base ...of aged vermicompost with plenty of fresh organic kitchen waste (used coffee grounds, carrot and potato peels, celery and carrot leaves, egg shells, etc.) on top. Other fauna (mostly potworms, springtails and mites) arrived spontaneously in the compost bin through addition of garden waste. See more
