24.01.2022 Hello to all players, junior parents, blaster parents, club members, sponsors and supporters. We hope everyone is keeping well in these COVID uncertain times. We wanted to provide you with an update for the coming cricket season. Given the stage 4 COVID restrictions in Melbourne are in place until 13th September, there is much uncertainty about the nature and timing of the 20/21 season. Right now, it is most likely there will be a delayed start to the season and possibly a sh...ortened season. But cricket will be guided by the state government directions, and the health and safety of players and spectators is the number one priority. We are optimistic there will be cricket this season and will continue to keep you updated. Cricket is already working on COVID protocols for when play resumes. These guidelines will be important to ensure the safety of all players and spectators. If you are interested, the return to train and return to play guidelines can be found on the Cricket Victoria website at this link: https://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/covid-19-return-to-trai/ Cricket may look a little different this season! For the coming season, the club intends to have 4 senior mens teams, junior boys teams in each age bracket (U11, U13, and U15), at least 1 senior womens team and junior girls teams in each age bracket (U11, U13 and U16). New players are always welcome, so if you have friends interested in cricket, please get them playing. The club will again run the Woolworths Blasters program on Friday nights. Online registration for junior players and Blasters participants is not available yet we will keep you updated as to when this is opened. The other exciting event happening at the club are the new clubrooms. If you have not been down to the ground lately, the old rooms have been demolished and are no longer there. The construction of the new rooms will start shortly with completion expected by May 2021. Sad to see the old rooms go lots of memories in those rooms! but the plans for the new rooms look great and we will share the designs here in the coming days. Work has also begun on the extension of the nets and the car park at the Douglas Parade end. Any queries can be directed to Ben Rogers, our secretary, at [email protected]. Stay safe everyone and we look forward to dusting off the whites and getting on the park!

24.01.2022 Hey Branders, Here is our first signing for the upcoming season. After constant nagging from our Captain Coach, James Ryan is on board. He comes from Sacred Heart where he has been Assistant Coach for the past three seasons.... His resume is quite impressive and includes being a first XI premiership player, as well as a multiple time member, in the team of the year for Mercantile Association. Welcome aboard Jim!!

23.01.2022 *Save the date* As prescribed in our Constitution we are pleased to announce with four weeks notice the holding of our 66th Annual General Meeting on Friday July 10th. The AGM is your chance to help shape the future of the club; In addition to the Annual Reports the 3-year strategic plan for the club as wel...l as final designs for the Digman Reserve Masterplan and new pavilion will be presented. 22.01.2022 Gellibrand Cricket trip 2021 - what happens on the trip stays on the trip

21.01.2022 Due to the impact of Covid restrictions we were unable to hold our 2019/20 senior men's and Under 17s Presentation Night. After several attempts at having a formal occasion we finally got it up and running last night at our palatial outdoor venue at the Digman Reserve. Congratulations to all our trophy winners in a great season where the firsts and seconds played finals and our thirds and fourths were very competitive.

21.01.2022 Excitement in the air with senior men's training kicking off.

21.01.2022 The Gellibrand Cricket Club Senior Presentation was held on Saturday night at the Junction Hotel. It was a great evening which was hosted by our eminent cricket tragic Nick Keating who regaled us with numerous statistics and anecdotes on each trophy winner. Check the trophy winners and photos from the night.

20.01.2022 Missing cricket on a nice sunny day like this? We'd like to clarify that although cricket training in a club capacity is not allowed under the current restrictions you are certainly able to get down to the nets or go for a hit in the park. Here are the guidelines: -Maximum of 2 people (ideal for throw downs) or up to 5 people across 2 households. -Must be within 5km radius of your home. -Outdoor cricket nets are open, although our brand new nets at Digman Reserve won't be rea...dy for a couple more weeks! To stay up to date with all news regarding training for your individual team or children's team/program please download TeamApp and add Gellibrand Cricket Club, this will be the only platform for communicating the arrangements for individual teams in the coming weeks

20.01.2022 GCC Senior training tops for season 2020/21. For sale to all members, supporters and fashion conscious individuals for $40. If you have already been contacted regarding a playing number for the new coloured playing kits you will already be getting one of these tops as part of the package We are quite happy with the design and think it is only fair to open them up to everyone. To place an order (adult sizes only) please comment here by close of business Friday, we are placing the order over the weekend for hopeful pickup some time during preseason...which we are hoping is sooner rather than later!

20.01.2022 Boys prepping in the change rooms before day 2 of the semi. 6 wickets are all we need.

20.01.2022 From Williamstown-past present future: "Compare the pair. 1912 (MMBW) and a tad over 100 years later"... No wonder the ground dropped away so much on the East side, dirty big hole underneath us.

15.01.2022 Our last Bronze sponsor is the team at LPG Auto Power, 62 Chelmsford st Williamstown. A good local mechanic can be hard to find so we have saved you the trouble by connecting you with LPG Auto; a long standing local workshop renowned for top quality workmanship and customer service. As part of our Masterplan there will be two new carparks built at Digman Reserve and we wont be tolerating any oil spills, breakdowns or generally shabby vehicles clogging up our new facilities, do yourself a favour and get down to LPG Auto Power and get your car in order!

15.01.2022 Our next Bronze sponsor is Agonics, and a big thank you to Dave Presley for his valued support. Youve probably seen Dave Presley playing in his vintage white dress shirt and dispatching late cuts to the boundary but you might not have yet had a conversation with him about the digitisation of rail assets which is what Agonics specialises in! It doesnt matter the industry; we are grateful for all sponsors big and small and look forward to some intellectual conversations with Dave regarding this exciting field of work, take a look at the website: www.agonics.com.au

13.01.2022 Sponsor Appreciation continues, especially now with the easing of some restrictions it is time to get out and support small business more than ever! Today we give a shout out to Mike Stowe and the team at Hobsons Bay Osteopathy, one of our Silver sponsors. Mike brought our fearless President Lee back into working order after he got blown skyward by our covers so there is no challenge too big or small. In addition Mike is a member of Gellibrands Committee and the Sponsorship Manager, a great clubman who can help you get moving well and feeling great.

13.01.2022 The VTCA has published award winners for season 19/20. We had the runners up in the 1sts and 2nds best player votes as well the 5th spot in the 2nds. Well done to those players. Our C-C was stiff, falling short by one lousy vote.

13.01.2022 Our Sponsor Appreciation for today goes out to another of our Gold Sponsors: Bendigo Community Bank Branch Altona. With finances top of mind for many of us at the moment its a great time to have a discussion with a locally owned and run bank and see what the Altona team can do for you whether it be savings, borrowings, refinancing or just great service on your day to day banking. Gellibrand Cricket Club is proud to use Bendigo Bank Altona for all its banking and yes we will be investing in a new EFTPOS machine in our new pavilion!

10.01.2022 Our final farewell to the old clubrooms, established mid 1960s (if anyone has the exact year please let us know). These photos taken shortly before we cleared it out for the last time, remarkable what we were able to pack into such a small building. Also as promised here are a few social photos, is it fair to say some of our past players enjoyed indulging in a beer or two?

09.01.2022 June has become sponsor appreciation month for us and we are loving the positive response from our members and sponsors. Today we highlight one of our Silver Sponsors; Awash Under Pressure. Offering pressure washing services for any context you can imagine: driveways, roofs, walls, graffiti removal, paint removal if you name it Darren can clean it! Case in point he washed our pitch covers at the end of the season and revealed they were actually white underneath all of that gr...ime! 08.01.2022 Today is a bittersweet day for Gellibrand with our home of the last few decades literally disappearing in the space of a few hours! Although saddened to see the rooms go and unfortunate that we were not able to host a farewell party given the current restrictions, we are grateful that the work is able to continue and will be sharing more updates with our members and supporters on the build of our new state of the art clubrooms. -Can anybody remember what year we first moved into Digman Reserve? -What are your favourite stories/memories from the now former clubrooms?

01.01.2022 Introducing TeamApp as a mandatory program for all Gellibrand players: https://gellibrandcricketclubcricket.teamapp.com/ With information continuing to evolve day by day on the easing of various restrictions, we can all agree that there will be an increased need to receive communication from the club as the season unfolds. We have over a dozen teams now and the ability to deliver information to seperate teams regarding training or match day updates especially in regards to Co...vid safe preparations or any potential schedule changes that may be thrown our way is vital. Some of our teams are already using TeamApp which gives us a platform to communicate to the whole club, various groups or individual teams where required, we are taking the logical step to make TeamApp mandatory for all senior players and junior parents, anyone playing cricket at Gellibrand will need TeamApp allowing us to communicate effectively through an easy to use app with no confusion or misinformation. The app also has built in functionality for RSVP's and attendance record keeping which we will look to utilise. Please sign up via the link below and we will work with all coaches and team managers to ensure all players are represented. We will move away from some of the various Facebook chat groups and use TeamApp as one source of truth for training and match day information. https://gellibrandcricketclubcricket.teamapp.com/
