25.01.2022 Wednesday lessons- Always fun ( and instructive) and draw in a lot of extra people: three of this group just came for the coffee and cakes- and the quiz-!!
25.01.2022 when our new restrictions were announced we were lucky enough to have one more last day of lessons- awaiting what the restrictions would mean for us. It didn’t really matter that we couldn’t see much more than 10 meters ! we just yelled and sang- to avoid any crashes.
24.01.2022 To the three riders that ate joining us tomorrow; Hi all!! Just rock up at 9.30 ... We will meet and have a cuppa- then start at 10. We start with only halter and stick/ whip. Dont forget lunch, hay and water. See you all tomorrow!!
23.01.2022 When we say we are a positive encouraging riding club- this is what we mean
22.01.2022 Wow !! What a fantastic night at our Shindig. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Once again a big thank you to all the businesses who supported our event by donating products and vouchers for our raffle, auction and prizes. Please thank them by supporting them and shop locally. We hope to see you back here again next year.
22.01.2022 Congratulations to Tom Cook and his wonderful team at Gembrook Veterinary Clinic. They were voted "Best Vet in Melbourne". They have been wonderful supporters of Gembrook Riding Club over the years and also other local community groups.
20.01.2022 Some of our club members competing today at Bunyip Dressage Day in preparation for HRCAV's TTT competition in November.
20.01.2022 What a great year it's been at Gembrook Riding Club. Such a variety of activities - Trail riding, lessons with a number of different instructors, Dressage, Showjumping, 3 Phase Equitation, Cross Country and some fun fundraising events. We have had quite an influx of new members this year and are all looking forward to another great year getting out and about and having fun with our best 4-leggered mates. Best wishes to everyone for Christmas and the New Year from all of us at GRC.
20.01.2022 It was wonderful see so many GRC riders out last weekend. Thanks to Phoenix Riding Club for putting on a great dressage competition. Gembrook had riders from Level 5 to Level 1 and all had a successful day one way or the other. Even those not riding came as support crew.
19.01.2022 Our first Saturday rally for the year with instructor Libbie Rogers. It was great to be able to get together again and the horses loved seeing each other too. We are looking forward to a great year (hopefully uninterrupted).

18.01.2022 3 phase equitation clinic in Gembrook, may 8 Gembrook riding club is organising a 3 phase equitation clinic on our grounds. We will be instructed by Kaitlyn Wilson- who is experienced in Working equitation and 3 phase equitation. ... We currently have a maximum of 6 places available. Cost per rider is $60 , and is open to HRCAV members. We have organised the clinic so that we can take beginners in the discipline, and we have a few groups that are more experienced that will prepare for the upcoming competition in June, in Hurstbridge. The course will be set up as an example of an obstacle course as presented at a competition. The experienced groups will be able to ride this course on style and speed. For riders new to the discipline we are contemplating doing a theory session on the day, so that the lessons are not taken up by long explanations. The topics in this session will be; ;rules at a competition, ;how to ride the obstacles ;Difference in levels If this session will happen depends on the interest. The cost will be $30 with a minimum of 3 people joining in. If you are interested in joining this day with us, please email Aukje van Vark, with the following information; Name; Dressage rider level HRCAV; Experience in 3PE; Wants to compete in Hurstbridge yes/no; HRCAV member number; Interested in a theory session, yes/no. If you give a time/friend etc preference I will do my best to accommodate but can’t promise anything, due to the priority to combine rider levels. Aukje van Vark, [email protected]
15.01.2022 Some members from GRC did a little practice Navigation Ride around Gembrook today. Answering cryptic questions along the way. Gembrook certainly has become a much busier place lately and it's no where near as safe to ride around as it used to be. Thanks to the vehicles who slowed down, took a wide birth and gave way, our riders really appreciated it.
14.01.2022 We had our very first post- covid rally today!! How happy are we to be out again- our horses coped well with cement trucks dumping their load, motor groups riding past and people walking their dogs and watching. Thanks community for being gentle with us- there are always cars slowing down and going around the corner gentle and it makes our life easy- and a lot safer ... I hope you are all enjoying the easing off, and normal life starting up again!
12.01.2022 Advice from Gembrook Parks Vic ... "We have just followed up with PV COVID Ops Response team and have been advised it is fine to resume horse riding in Kurth Kiln and from Cannibal Creek Horse Riding area as a result of the Stage 1 re opening, provided group size is no more than 10 and that normal social distancing rules apply." All riders please note that there are gates at both ends of Scout Loop Track - DO NOT OPEN THEM AND DRIVE DOWN TO THE CORALS - you can park in the unloading area at the entrances to Scout Loop Track. There are also still areas east of Cannibal Creek carpark that are closed due to rehabilitation after the 2019 Bushfires.
11.01.2022 With the first stage of easing of restrictions (and confirmed permission from the relevant authorities) our club members have been able to get back into the swing of riding again. We had a rally day with Shantel Steer as instructor and some members have had a chance to get out trail riding.
11.01.2022 Photo of our dogs understanding the social distancing rules. With all the strict hygiene measures in place GRC are unable to hold any Rally Days until further notice. At this stage the advice from our governing body (HRCAV) is that the use of locked Club grounds for private training is to be strictly controlled with Clubs responsible for ensuring that the number of persons using the grounds at any one time is limited and the recommended hygiene and social distancing measures ...are enforced. Such measures include: members / instructors feeling unwell to stay at home, avoid close social contact (easy if you have a mare !!) byo food and drinks, hand soap/sanitiser in toilets and kitchens. As everyone knows these recommendations can change at any time but if everyone is extremely careful hopefully we won't get to the stage of not being able to even see our horses if they are not kept on our own property as seems to be the case in many countries.
09.01.2022 Our wonderful local band "7.30 Thursdays" were absolutely fantastic and really got the place rockin' at our Shindig. The proceeds that would normally be paid to them will be going to the CFA and Cassanga Fund.
08.01.2022 As you will probably notice our Large Animal Rescues are on the rise & word is getting round that we are quite good, so our coverage areas seem to be spreading.... However these things come with a price and we are looking for some items to kit out our tool boxes, repair our trailer & purchase safety equipment. If you would like to support us & are able to make a donation please contact us by Facebook Messenger or leave your name in the comments below & someone shall be in touch. Thank you in advance.
08.01.2022 Yay!!!! EA and HRCAV under authority of DHHS have clarified the new instructions for riders! Finally we can use our grounds again- for private lessons. Great for members who have no facilities at home. ... Club rallies and lessons are not allowed yet, so you won't see us out in large numbers, but hopefully soon that will change Also- there will be horses out on the roads again, as we are allowed to trail ride in small groups (and within 25 km), so be kind to us. Our horses have also been locked up four months, and some are unused to seeing cars and 'other' people! Trust us that we abide by current rules- we want to get out of this as soon as possible just like everybody else, safe and healthy- but GEE IT FEELS GOOD TO RIDE AGAIN :-)
07.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to all the non-horsey people who now live or visit our beautiful area. Please take extra care when you come across someone with their horse either being ridden or led. Horses are living, breathing 500kg animals with a mind of their own. Riders do their best to keep away from roads etc. but sometimes that can't be avoided. If you do come across a horse in your travels, please take the time to slow down and pass carefully. Your consideration will be very much appreciated.
07.01.2022 6th Feb 2021 we had an "Introduction to Three Phase Equitation (3PE)" day with instructor Anna Gust. "Brutus" the Bull provided some entertaining reactions !!
04.01.2022 Hi guys- Babajis ( Belgrave) supported our Shindig very generously for such a small business. Their food is awesome. They are lovely people- they need to stay in business! Please get some food from them, as they deserve support. They sell frozen curries and almost everything is gf.
03.01.2022 While we can't use our club, and those lucky enough to be able to ride at home are doing so very secluded- we can still.look back at photos of our fantastic rallies!
02.01.2022 When you have a twilight rally, and somebody has promised to bring champagne- and then it rains... You hire an indoor of course!
